Jennifer Lawrence stepped out in a short Christian Dior dress for her Silver Linings Playbook premiere in LA last night. She was joined on the red carpet by a Gucci-clad Bradley Cooper. The costars have been spending a lot of time together promoting the film. Over the weekend, Jen and Bradley linked up for a special SAG screening of the film, which was out in limited release Friday and will be out more broadly across the country tomorrow.

Also in attendance for last night's premiere was Jennifer and Bradley's costar Chris Tucker and director David O. Russell. Chris told us all about making the film and touched on the amazing rapport between Jennifer and Bradley. He said, "It was great because they had so much good chemistry . . . David O. Russell is a great director. He had a great cast with Jennifer, Bradley, and Robert De Niro, and Jacki Weaver."

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper attended a special SAG screening of their film, Silver Linings Playbook, in LA last night with costar Chris Tucker. Bradley and Jennifer brought the picture to the West Coast together after attending separate premieres in NYC last week. In the intervening days, Jennifer has been required on the set of a very different movie, the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. Jennifer and Bradley are reaching the final stages of promotion for the film. It came out in limited release Friday, and this Wednesday opens broadly across the country — check out our Silver Linings Playbook review.

Jennifer's performance has some speculating that she'll be nominated for an Oscar this year after being up for one in 2011 thanks to Winter's Bone. She spoke about that possibility, and of confronting the entire 2013 award season, with The Daily Beast. She said, "It's one of those things, when you read the first review and it's glowing, and everybody keeps hinting it's going to happen. I think it will be a lot better this year, now that I can drink. I honestly think that was the worst part. You can't sit through the Golden Globes without drinking. I was the only sober one there listening to every word. It was so cold that at one point, I wrapped myself up in the train of my dress and then I saw myself pop up on the screen. I started smiling but my teeth were chattering. It probably looked like I was secretly crying, as if I thought I had a chance."

Silver Linings Playbook: Sweet Insanity

It's nearly impossible to pigeonhole a movie like Silver Linings Playbook.

It's nearly impossible to pigeonhole a movie like Silver Linings Playbook. Is it a drama? A comedy? A sports film? A romance? The truth is, David O. Russell's latest movie is all of those things — and more. The film, about a bipolar man named Pat (Bradley Cooper) looking to get his life back on track after a stint in a mental institution, examines Pat's illness as Russell takes us through the sometimes hilarious, sometimes horrifying process of healing. Russell and his impressive cast strike such a perfect balance between drama and comedy that it doesn't matter how the movie's categorized; the easiest way to label Silver Linings Playbook is as a great movie.

After eight months in the hospital, Pat moves back in with his parents, ready to start fresh. He's determined to embrace a more positive attitude in the hopes of winning back his wife, but he's continually haunted by the memory of beating her lover to pulp — not to mention the fact that the filter between his brain and mouth appears to be completely broken. His belligerent (and often insensitive) comments provide easy chuckles from the audience, but it's not until Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) enters the picture that the film really becomes a joy to watch — in all its idiosyncratic glory.

Bradley Cooper Debuts Silver Linings Playbook With Robert, Without Jennifer

Bradley Cooper enjoyed the last days of his reign as People's Sexiest Man Alive last night on the red carpet at the NYC premiere of Silver Linings Playbook.

Bradley Cooper enjoyed the last days of his reign as People's Sexiest Man Alive last night on the red carpet at the NYC premiere of Silver Linings Playbook. The magazine announces their 2012 pick tomorrow! Yesterday, Bradley was in the company of costars Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker, and Julia Stiles. We spoke with Bradley about the joys of shooting the picture in his hometown, Philadelphia. He said, "This was a good chance to shoot Philly for Philly . . . the neighborhood, the people. It felt very close to home. My uncles were there. My uncle read [Robert De Niro's] lines for [Robert] to get the accent. Jacki Weaver hung out with my mom. It was kind of a family affair."

Absent from the film's Big Apple premiere was Bradley's leading lady Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer was able to promote their film over the weekend, though. Jennifer Lawrence showed off her dark hair, and an all-black outfit, for a special screening on Sunday. She was nonetheless present in the minds of her costars last night. Costars like Chris called Jennifer's performance in Silver Linings Playbook "great" and "fantastic" — stay tuned for more on Jennifer and Bradley in this afternoon's PopSugar Rush.
