Fast Five

Brian (Paul Walker) and Dom (Vin Diesel) team up for one last job in the fifth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. This time the two find themselves in Rio de Janeiro and on the run from a corrupt drug lord as well as a relentless cop (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson). The film kicks off with a high-energy action scene and doesn't slow down, providing plenty of chase scenes and explosions until the film's end. Fans of the franchise will be happy to see Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson reprising their original roles. DVD extras include a gag reel and a segment of Tyrese Gibson interviewing his castmates.

Scream 4

When Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) returns to Woodsboro during a book tour for her new self-help book, she must protect herself and her cousin (Emma Roberts) from the Ghostface killer 10 years after her first ordeal. Courteney Cox and David Arquette are back as Gale and Dewey and are joined by a series of newcomers, including Alison Brie and Hayden Panettiere. The reboot captures the humor of the original, and Campbell and Cox are just as fresh as they were the first time around. DVD extras include commentary from director Wes Craven and deleted scenes.

Box Office: Rio Soars Above the Competition

It was another big weekend for animated film Rio, which nailed the number one spot at the box office for the second week in a row with $26.8 million.

It was another big weekend for animated film Rio, which nailed the number one spot at the box office for the second week in a row with $26.8 million. It beat out a couple of new releases, like Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family, which pulled in $25.8 million, and Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon's circus romance Water For Elephants, which earned $17.5 million in third place.

Hop managed to make it to number four with $12.5 million — not surprising since it was Easter weekend. Finally, Scream 4 just squeaked into the top five with a total of $7.2 million in its second week of release.

Box Office: Rio Murders Scream 4

Despite the good reviews of Scream 4, it couldn't beat fellow new release Rio at the box office.

Despite the good reviews of Scream 4, it couldn't beat fellow new release Rio at the box office. The animated flick, which features the voices of Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg, brought in $40 million to claim the number one spot. Scream 4 trailed it with $19.3 million, a significantly less opening total than previous Scream sequels (Scream 3 opened with $34.7 million back in 2000).

Easter bunny kids' movie Hop, last week's box office winner, came in third with $11.2 million. Fourth place was claimed by inspirational surf film Soul Surfer with $7.4 million, and the top five was completed by Saoirse Ronan's action vehicle Hanna, with $7.3 million.

When Scream 4 opens today, we get to revisit several of the first film's characters.

When Scream 4 opens today, we get to revisit several of the first film's characters. But before you see the modern Woodsboro, take a trip down memory lane with the original film and its trailer below. Even though Scream is now one of my favorite movies and I know everything that happens, the preview still gives me the chills, especially when I think of how freaked out teenage me was when I'd catch it on TV. Relive the creepy, funny, vintage trailer now.

Are You Going to See Scream 4 This Weekend?

The fourth installment in the spooky Scream series hits theaters today with Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell returning to their big-screen roles for the franchise.

The fourth installment in the spooky Scream series hits theaters today with Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell returning to their big-screen roles for the franchise. Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts, and Anna Paquin spice things up as new additions to the cast, which apparently sees its fair share of tragedy due to the high onscreen kill count. BuzzSugar gave a great Scream 4 review that might get you excited to see it even if scary films aren't your forte — but tell us, do you plan on running to the theater to see the movie this weekend?

Movie Review

Scream 4: A Bloody, Funny, and Worthy Scre-Boot

You know the sound of that dreaded ringing phone; you're ready for it, but no matter how often you remind yourself that it's coming, there's just something about the start of the Scream movies that gets me every time.

You know the sound of that dreaded ringing phone; you're ready for it, but no matter how often you remind yourself that it's coming, there's just something about the start of the Scream movies that gets me every time. From that very moment, Scream 4 throws you right back into the beloved franchise with a fresh, updated take on a very familiar story. The original Scream opening scene with Drew Barrymore put the movie on the map, and once again the first sequence is everything you want —  tongue-in-cheek, funny, and of course, very bloody. For that reason and others, this is perhaps the most similar to the first of all the sequels. Or, to quote the film, it really is more of a "scre-boot" than a "shreik-uel."

Director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson are both at the top of their games with Scream 4. For all the criticism Scream 3 received, Craven stays loyal to the essence of Scream in this one. Ghostface and his very shiny knife are chill-inducing, red-herring abound, and it's a horror movie about loving horror movies. Williamson somehow retains the ability to write snappy, believable teen dialogue, save one final monologue about fame that goes a bit over the top.

Technology plays a central role in the story, with iPhones, apps, and web cams making frequent appearances, which is certainly a sign of the times. Scream 4 will serve as a snapshot of 2011 in the same way Scream is so indicative of the late '90s, belly shirts and all. Still, I'm not sure there are any high schoolers out there live streaming their whole life from a headset.
