Country stars from all over the US got together in Las Vegas last night for the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Country stars from all over the US got together in Las Vegas last night for the Academy of Country Music Awards. Taylor Swift looked stunning in a gold Dolce & Gabbana gown as she worked her stuff on the red carpet alongside stars like Sheryl Crow and Keith Urban. Carrie Underwood made a big statement in a red Naeem Khan frock, while Faith Hill went for a simple black number to pose in front of photographers with husband Tim McGraw. Inside the event, Taylor got giddy when she got a chance to meet Shania Twain and John Mayer sang with Brad Paisley in one of his first live performances since he has battled vocal cord problems.

Big winners at the ACM Awards included Miranda Lambert, who nabbed awards for female vocalist of the year, single record of the year, and song of the year with husband Blake Shelton. Miranda broke down in tears during her acceptance speeches, saying that she was "rooting for Carrie Underwood" for the female vocalist award. Other winners included Little Big Town and Luke Bryan, who won entertainer of the year and also cohosted the event with Blake.

American Idol Gets Ready to Crown a Winner and to Possibly Say Goodbye to Jennifer Lopez

American Idol finalists Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips went out on a high note last night, with each hopeful singing their heart out for the judges, studio audience, and fans watching at home.

American Idol finalists Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips went out on a high note last night, with each hopeful singing their heart out for the judges, studio audience, and fans watching at home. Each contestant performed three songs, one chosen by the show's producer, Simon Fuller; one of their choice; and an original single they'll release should they win. Jessica kicked things off by belting out Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" followed by Celine Dion's "The Prayer," and she took her final turn on Idol singing her potential single, "Change Nothing." Phillip, who won the coin toss and chose to perform last, began his night with Ben E. King's "Stand by Me," followed it up with Billy Joel's "Movin' Out," and closed the show with his coronation song, "Home."

All eyes were on the finalists. However, Jennifer Lopez stole a moment of the spotlight in a sexy, asymmetrical see-through bodysuit. Jen will be back on the stage again tonight to perform her latest track, "Follow the Leader." It could be J Lo's final curtain call, as her future on the show is still undecided. Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery briefly spoke about J Lo's rumored departure from Idol, saying, "I'd hate to see her go. Whatever happens happens. She's got a lot going for her, so she'll be fine."

Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, and More Country Stars Add Fender Guitars to Their Trophy Cases

Las Vegas went country last night for the 2011 American Country Awards.

Las Vegas went country last night for the 2011 American Country Awards. The event was hosted by Trace Adkins, for the second year in a row, and this time around he was joined by pint-sized companion Kristin Chenoweth. The night was a celebration of the genre's finest musicians with Jason Aldean taking home six Fender guitar statues, including artist of the year. Carrie added three awards to her growing collection including female artist of the year, music video of the year, and female artist single of the year. Taylor Swift missed out on the Sin City fun, and even though she was nominated in six categories her winning streak came to an end.

Blake Shelton took a break from filming The Voice to join his lovely wife Miranda Lambert in the front row of the audience. The superstar pair raised their plastic glasses during Toby Keith's performance of his hit "Red Solo Cup," and Keith later went on to accept the honor of artist of the decade. The evening was a mini American Idol reunion of sorts for former contestants Carrie, Jordin Sparks, Lauren Alaina, and Scotty McCreery. Scotty, last year's AI champion, earned his first ever award and took home the title of new artist of the year.

Millions of fans tuned in last night for American Idol's two-hour, star-studded season finale. Ryan Seacrest was decked out in a tux to take in the powerful performances, later announcing 17-year-old Scotty McCreery as this year's champion — do you agree with the season 10 American Idol winner? The top 13 contestants returned to sing and dance throughout the show, as did Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga, and even Idol judge Steven Tyler. Carrie Underwood arrived in a Lorena Sarbu dress then joined finalist Lauren Alaina for a duet of "Before He Cheats," and Scotty teamed up with country legend Tim McGraw on "Live Like You Were Dying." Beyonce took the stage twice, first doing a medley of her own hits like "Crazy in Love" with contestants and then a solo of her new single "One Plus One." Marc Anthony got the crowd on their feet with a Latin beat as Jennifer Lopez shook it in a hot fringed costume. Lady Gaga, U2, Tony Bennett, Jack Black, and Gladys Knight also joined in the fun before Scotty celebrated his accomplishment by belting out his first original track, "I Love You This Big."

Buzz Battle: Who Will Be the Next American Idol?

We're just hours away from meeting our next American Idol, and whether it will be Lauren Alaina or Scotty McCreery is anybody's guess.

We're just hours away from meeting our next American Idol, and whether it will be Lauren Alaina or Scotty McCreery is anybody's guess. Both have been favorites all season long, though Lauren has spent a little more time in the bottom three than Scotty has. The judges all but named Lauren the victor last night, though ultimately, it's America's votes that count. Fans of the show are forced to pick a side, and we've been picking your brains about your own predictions, based on the season and last night's final showdown. Unsurprisingly, readers have split the love between the two contestants, so check out the arguments for each side:

  • Point: "Scotty, the last song was simply amazing." — Anonymous
  • Counterpoint: "I am thinking Hayley's voters might turn into a few Lauren votes and we can finally have another female winner!" — care0531
  • Point: "Lauren had a better night, but I have a feeling Scotty will win." — ktc71
  • Counterpoint: "I love both of them but I feel that Lauren has got it!" — OoOThisIsMeOoO
  • Point: "I have to go with Scotty all the way. I wanted it to be Casey or James. But, since they voted out James, I genuinely hope it is Scotty." — Ramona Kelley Bishop
  • Counterpoint: "Lauren will win. Plus, they want a female winner this year." —TRH36

Buzz In: Who's Your Pick to Win American Idol?

We still have one more night of performances to go on American Idol, but let's face it: by now, you probably know which contestant you're rooting for.

We still have one more night of performances to go on American Idol, but let's face it: by now, you probably know which contestant you're rooting for. Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are actually more similar finalists than we've had in recent years: both have roots in country music, they're both just teenagers, and they both exude that girl/boy-next-door vibe. But when it comes time to vote, only one can take home the crown.

I was impressed with Scotty's voice from the first time he auditioned, but I have to admit that I'm pulling for Lauren. She has the all-around appeal that made Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood household names, and I'd love to see a girl take home the crown after three straight years dominated by guys. Lauren has also been more fun to watch over time; she's mixed things up and improved week to week, while Scotty has mostly stuck to the tried and true (though at least he started singing something other than Josh Turner's "Your Man").

Where do you stand? Are you Team Scotty or Team Lauren (or are you holding out for their final performances)?
