The Campaign

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis square off as a couple of dim-witted candidates in the political ring in The Campaign. Cam Brady (Ferrell) is set for another term as a congressman, but he gets some unexpected competition when small-town guy Marty Huggins (Galifianakis) is persuaded to run against him — but soon gets in over his head. Over-the-top hijinks abound when the two set out on the campaign trail. Though the leads are great performers independently, this movie doesn't quite live up to its comedic potential. The DVD comes with a gag reel, deleted scenes, and an improvisation roll.

Safety Not Guaranteed

A pair of journalists (Aubrey Plaza and Jake Johnson) investigate an ad in the newspaper seeking a companion for time travel. They discover the man on the other end of it, a strange and paranoid supermarket clerk (Mark Duplass) who is genuinely hoping to find someone to travel with. Though the journalists begin with skepticism, their opinions change as they observe the man. Plaza balances her trademark sardonic wit with endearing sensitivity, while Johnson gives a sophisticated performance as well. Extras include two featurettes about the making of the movie.

Aubrey Plaza on a Parks and Recreation Baby and Solo Sex Scenes

Aubrey Plaza's deadpan delivery might define her Parks and Recreation character, April, but in Safety Not Guaranteed, the comedic actress gets the chance to show a slightly more sentimental side.

Aubrey Plaza's deadpan delivery might define her Parks and Recreation character, April, but in Safety Not Guaranteed, the comedic actress gets the chance to show a slightly more sentimental side. We caught up with Aubrey at a recent press day for the indie film in LA, where she talked about switching gears with the project and what's up next for April and Andy. Aubrey told us she's been pushing for a Parks and Recreation baby, and also dished about her next movie, The Hand Job. In it, she plays a college-bound teen determined to get some sexual experience under her belt before Summer's over — a role that Aubrey admits required its share of extremely awkward scenes. Safety Not Guaranteed arrives in select theaters this weekend.

Jake Johnson has become one of our favorite characters on TV as Nick on New Girl, but the actor and comedian is branching out with his movie career with his latest big-screen project, Safety Not Guaranteed, hitting theaters this weekend.

Jake Johnson has become one of our favorite characters on TV as Nick on New Girl, but the actor and comedian is branching out with his movie career with his latest big-screen project, Safety Not Guaranteed, hitting theaters this weekend. We met up with Jake at a recent press day for the film in LA to talk about his not-so-nice character in the film, working with his multitalented costars Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass, and what's in store for Nick on next season of his FOX hit. Hint: we haven't seen the last of Nick's ex-girlfriend Caroline! Check out our interview with Jake and find Safety Not Guaranteed in select cities beginning June 8.

Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass Talk Star Wars in Exclusive Clip From Safety Not Guaranteed

Can't wait until June 8 to see Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass in Safety Not Guaranteed?

Can't wait until June 8 to see Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass in Safety Not Guaranteed? Good news, we've got an exclusive clip of the two in the upcoming comedy about a newspaper reporter (Plaza) following up on a man (Duplass) who posted an ad for a time travel companion in the paper. I'm pretty sure they're not time traveling in this particular scene, but Duplass's character does tell a super sweet story about his childhood. Check out the clip and stay tuned for more about the movie, which also stars New Girl's Jake Johnson!

Safety Not Guaranteed Trailer: Aubrey Plaza Might Be Mark Duplass's Time-Traveling Buddy

I love the bad attitude Aubrey Plaza cops as Parks and Recreation's droll April Ludgate, but she's taking a little departure from all that sarcasm for the indie comedy Safety Not Guaranteed (though it wouldn't be Plaza if she weren't just a little bit snarky).

She plays Darius, an intern at a magazine who tags along with a writer (Jake Johnson) for an unusual assignment: track down the poster of a Craigslist ad, Kenneth (Mark Duplass), who's trying to find someone to time travel with. When Darius and co. find him, Darius's research of Kenneth turns into what looks like genuine affection for the eccentric guy.

There are some twee elements to this trailer, but I'm loving this look at the movie, mostly because I like New Girl's Johnson so much (and it's nice to see him playing someone who's more together than Nick). I've also got a soft spot for Duplass, who's usually either behind the camera on his own features or talking filthy about football on FX's The League, but here, he's front and center and proves he's both charming and funny. All in all, I'm pretty eager to see this movie, and shoot, I'd drink the Kool-Aid too if I could time travel to the future for its June 8 release date. Watch the trailer after the jump.

New Girl

Jake Johnson on New Girl's Future and Why "Alcohol Helps" Him Watch Himself on Screen

On New Girl, Jake Johnson plays Nick, the likable but sometimes grumpy roommate of Jess (Zooey Deschanel).

On New Girl, Jake Johnson plays Nick, the likable but sometimes grumpy roommate of Jess (Zooey Deschanel). Jake stopped by Sundance for his film Safety Not Guaranteed, and we grabbed a minute with him to chat about his time at the festival and what's in store on the Fox show. Keep watching to find out why he says Nick's relationship with Jess is about to get weird, and why Nick is going through his "crazy" period.
