Naomi and Karolína Talk French Glamour at a Lux Bash With Rooney Mara

The Swiss watch brand IWC Schaffhausen gathered stars in France for the Cannes Film Festival in the town of Antibes last night for its For the Love of Cinema party.

The Swiss watch brand IWC Schaffhausen gathered stars in France for the Cannes Film Festival in the town of Antibes last night for its For the Love of Cinema party. The location was the luxurious seaside Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, which made for a picturesque night. Rooney Mara, Naomi Watts, and Karolína Kurková were among the famous women who hit the red carpet wearing timepieces from the brand, as did actor Christoph Waltz and race car driver Lewis Hamilton. The group was treated to a performance by Jamiroquai's Jay Kay and dinner inside the hotel's restaurant.

Wearing a long-sleeved leather Balmain dress, Karolína discussed her bold choice and said, "It's not short!" She also revealed that her travels to Cannes were partially for work and partially for a family vacation with her husband, Archie Drury, and their son, Tobin. Naomi, meanwhile, wore a chic floral gown from Dolce & Gabbana. She told us on the red carpet that when in the South of France, she dresses the part. Though her day-to-day choices aren't fancy, she ups the fashion ante even more than usual for premieres and events at the festival's iconic Palais.

Calvin Klein Reveals Rooney Mara as the Face of Its New Fragrance at Cannes

Today, Calvin Klein officially unveiled Rooney Mara as the face of its newest fragrance, Downtown — but the brand got an early start celebrating the news last night.

Today, Calvin Klein officially unveiled Rooney Mara as the face of its newest fragrance, Downtown — but the brand got an early start celebrating the news last night. Despite the rain, stars including Rooney, Carey Mulligan, Nicole Kidman, and Skyfall's Naomie Harris stopped by Calvin Klein's beachside bash at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday evening.

Rooney marked the new partnership alongside Francisco Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, at the party, which was also hosted by Belvedere and IWC. Inside the dimly lit and intimate soiree, she chatted with producer Harvey Weinstein, while Carey mingled by the DJ booth before making an early departure. Nicole also made time in her Cannes schedule to attend. All three actresses are busy working this week. Carey's The Great Gatsby premiered on opening night; Rooney's latest film, Ain't Them Bodies Saints, will also debut later this week; and Nicole is serving as a member of the film festival's official jury.

Calvin Klein Takes Rooney Mara Downtown For a New Fragrance Campaign

Rooney Mara has been tapped by fragrance giant Calvin Klein as the face of the brand's latest fragrance: Downtown.

Rooney Mara has been tapped by fragrance giant Calvin Klein as the face of the brand's latest fragrance: Downtown. The announcement came last night during Calvin Klein's Cannes party. "I am very excited to be included in the group of amazing women that have been featured in the iconic advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein fragrances," Rooney told WWD. "The Downtown fragrance holds true to the chic, confident, and simple feeling of the Calvin brand." And with notes of bergamot, violet leaf, incense, and velvet musk, as well as Downton's bright fuchsia bottle, Rooney's statement couldn't be more true.

Rooney's stint as Calvin Klein's Downtown chick includes TV spots directed by David Fincher, print ads shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, and a huge social media push. "We want to create a dialogue with consumers," Marc Rey, president of Coty Prestige US, said. Rooney's character for the campaign is a young woman who plays by her own rules. The fragrance is set to drop in select global markets in July, with US consumers getting their first glimpse in September.

Met Gala: Best Dressed

The 2013 Met Gala best-dressed set could easily be likened to the fashion Olympics, and this year's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition turnout made it harder than ever to pick only five gold-medal contenders.

The 2013 Met Gala best-dressed set could easily be likened to the fashion Olympics, and this year's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition turnout made it harder than ever to pick only five gold-medal contenders. Beyoncé Knowles spared no head-turning detail in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture flame-embroidered gown; Gwyneth Paltrow stood out in a covered-up hot pink Valentino number; Rooney Mara played the edgy card in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown, complete with floral embroidery, zippers, ruffles, and a split-front opening; Jennifer Lawrence chose ladylike Dior (and that Jennifer Behr netted veil!); and Katie Holmes stunned in a downright ethereal custom Calvin Klein creation. It's a close one, but it's time for you to declare a best-dressed winner of the night.
