More Johnny, Mermaids, and Penelope in the Second Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Trailer

When we got to to see the first trailer for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, On Stranger Tides, it felt like there was a little bit of the franchise's magic missing.

When we got to to see the first trailer for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, On Stranger Tides, it felt like there was a little bit of the franchise's magic missing. Now we have trailer number two, and it's a bit more exciting than the first.

As expected, it has more of Johnny Depp's one-liners as Captain Jack Sparrow, along with some sexy sparring with costar Penelope Cruz. More importantly, we also get to see a bit more of the mermaid factor, and why they're such a big part of this sequel. One is needed to help the Captain Jack and his rival Blackbeard (Ian McShane) to get to The Fountain of Youth — the thin but interesting objective of the movie. Watch this new trailer and see if gets you any more excited for the latest Pirates installment when you read more

Jack Sparrow Is Back in the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Teaser

Disney's Comic-Con panel wasn't just about Tron: Legacy.

Disney's Comic-Con panel wasn't just about Tron: Legacy. We also got a taste of what's to come in the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. In a cute teaser, Johnny Depp gives us a little pep talk in his full Jack Sparrow glory, promising "zombies, cutthroats, mermaids, and Penelope Cruz." It turns into a rant about Bloody Marys, but it's cute enough to give me hope that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides could help me forget about At World's End.

Watch it after the jump.

Penelope Lands at LAX and Sets Sail For Pirates

Penelope Cruz was dressed down yesterday when she arrived at LAX.

Penelope Cruz was dressed down yesterday when she arrived at LAX. She landed solo in California after a stay in Madrid with boyfriend Javier Bardem. The happy couple was also together last month to make the red carpet rounds at the Cannes Film Festival, where Javier professed his love for her as he accepted an award for his acting in Buitiful at the closing ceremony. Penelope will soon enjoy the company of another hot actor, Johnny Depp, when the former Blow costars reunite to film the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean. Shooting is scheduled to start this Summer in Hawaii, where Penelope and Javier can perhaps enjoy their next shirtless and bikini-filled beach day.

Buzz In: Who Should Take Johnny Depp's Place in the Pirates Franchise?

Rumors have been swirling for the past week or so that Johnny Depp isn't as excited about Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides now that former head honcho Dick Cook has left Disney studios.

Rumors have been swirling for the past week or so that Johnny Depp isn't as excited about Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides now that former head honcho Dick Cook has left Disney studios. Depp is still attached to the project for now, but supposedly Disney is already preparing to search for his replacement if necessary.

The character wouldn't be recast, but the new challenge will be finding an actor and fictional pirate worthy of Depp's Jack Sparrow. It's hard to even imagine someone else with the same mix of swagger and comedic timing, but hey — if Depp could create one memorable pirate, who's to say that another brilliant actor can't follow suit?

I could see Robert Downey Jr. as a pretty badass raider, and no doubt he'd have fun with the role. Who do you think should take Depp's place?
