August: Osage County Trailer: Meryl and Julia Lead a Dysfunctional Family
I already have my tissues ready just watching the trailer for August: Osage County, which stars Meryl Streep as the matriarch of a family who gathers for the funeral of her husband (Sam Shepard). The kids all come home to Oklahoma, most notably Julia Roberts as eldest daughter Barbara, and unkind words, snark, and tears are unleashed. August: Osage County is full of familiar faces, and the rest of the extended family includes Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Abigail Breslin, and Margo Martindale. Whew!
Obviously, if Streep is involved you know you're in for a dramatic treat, and she's bringing it in the preview, but it also looks like Roberts and the supporting cast are at the top of their game, too. This adaptation of a stage play looks so powerful already, and I can't wait to see it when it comes into theaters Nov. 8 — right in time for award season. Watch the trailer after the jump.
Great Movie Mothers: Meryl Streep
With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, we're thinking about beloved movie moms, particularly the actresses who time and time again have taken maternal roles and made them memorable. The first person who comes to mind? Meryl Streep. She's been a mom who sings, a mom who psychoanalyzes, and of course, a complicated mom. Here are my five top mom parts from her acting arsenal.
Angelina Jolie Pays Tribute to Pakistani Schoolgirl at the Women in the World Summit
Angelina Jolie showed her support for Malala Yousafzai at the Women in the World Summit, organized by Newsweek/The Daily Beast, in NYC last night. She wore a Saint Laurent maxi dress and coat as she introduced a video message from the Pakistani schoolgirl who got international attention after she was shot by the Taliban for promoting girls' education. Angie said, "Here's what the gunman and the Taliban accomplished on that day. They shot her at point-blank range in the head — and made her stronger." Angelina has also donated $200,000 to the Malala Fund, a new charity set up by Vital Voices to encourage girls' education. Other stars who attended the Women in the World Summit included America Ferrera, Daily Beast editor Tina Brown, and Meryl Streep.
Angelina has been busy with philanthropic work over the past few weeks. She recently traveled to Africa with Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague to raise awareness about rape in war zones.

Meryl Streep and her daughter Mamie Gummer stepped out of their Vancouver hotel together yesterday. The duo spent time up north just as news of Mamie's split from her husband, Ben Walker, was announced. Mamie and Ben were married in the Summer of 2011 after meeting in 2008 while working on the Broadway play Dangerous Liaisons. Ben was recently back on stage in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof while Mamie has been focused on the small screen. Her show Emily Owens, M.D. was canceled after just one season, but she's already signed on for the CBS pilot Backstrom opposite Rainn Wilson.

Happy Birthday Meryl Streep: See Her Award History
Meryl Streep turns 63 today, and to celebrate her birthday, we're looking back on how often her acting career has been celebrated. Streep has been working for over 30 years, and she's had a myriad of roles (along with a myriad of accents) that have led to award recognition. She doesn't always win (can you believe she only has three Oscars?), but Streep's name has popped up during award season quite a bit. See for yourself by checking out her most nominated roles and find out when she took home a statue.
A Look Back at Meryl Streep's Most Memorable Style Moments
She may be an unwilling style icon, but there's no denying that Meryl Streep has an innate elegance all her own. "For me, clothes are kind of character; I don't follow fashion or understand trends," the 16-time Oscar nominee has said. That may be, but who else wears clothing with such natural grace that they've inspired dozens of designers' collections — as Streep did in her 1985 Out of Africa role — and who else but Streep could portray the ultimate Prada-wearing, fear-inducing fashion editor with such believable and transportative aplomb? In honor of her June 22 birthday, here's a look back at the iconic actress's most indelible style moments.
