Stars gathered to show their support at the second annual Sean Penn and Friends Help Haiti Home Gala at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills Saturday night. Reese Witherspoon sat in the audience with husband Jim Toth and bid during the auction, while Julia Roberts mingled with pals like Tim Robbins in the crowd. Daniel Craig, who was absent when he won best actor in an action movie for Skyfall at Thursday's Critics' Choice Awards, met up with Jon Bon Jovi, and Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone attended the event, which featured a performance by Citizen Cope. Eva Longoria was fresh off of filming a Lays commercial when she stepped out for the good cause, alongside Kristin Davis, Emma Roberts, Eric Dane, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and others.
Sandra Does Disneyland With Little Louis and Pal Melissa McCarthy
Sandra Bullock took her son, Louis, on a trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, yesterday. Sandra was joined by pal Melissa McCarthy and Melissa's husband, Ben Falcone, for the afternoon of fun. She and Melissa, who costar in next Spring's The Heat, were arm in arm to take in the sights at the theme park while Louis ate popcorn out of an R2-D2 bowl.
Sandra shared another recent outing with famous friends last month when she spent time with Camila Alves and the McConaughey kids in New Orleans. Sandra and Louis joined Camila, Levi, and Vida to watch a performance by the marching band from the Warren Easton Charter High School, a school Sandra has supported over the years.
The Heat Trailer: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy Are Partners in Crime-Fighting
We've seen the buddy cop movie done a million times over, but the female buddy cop angle feels fresh in the trailer for The Heat. In the comedy, Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy play an FBI agent and detective, respectively, who get paired up for a drug case, and thus, a classic unlikely partnership is born. Bullock, as Katerina, is the by-the-book agent, while McCarthy's Detective Nelson is the live wire who causes as much trouble as she cleans up.
Though McCarthy is essentially playing the same character she did in Bridesmaids (but as a police officer), her delivery is still spot-on as she exacts withering threats. However, it's Bullock that made me laugh more in this preview — it feels like it's been too long since we've seen her in a straight-up comedy, and her chemistry with McCarthy looks fantastic. While The Heat may not be a groundbreaking movie, the trailer is silly and fun, and boasts other comedic strengths, like Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and appearances by Tony Hale, Kaitlin Olson, and SNL's Taran Killam. The movie comes out June 28, but you can watch the trailer now after the jump.
Identity Thief Trailer: Melissa McCarthy Steals Jason Bateman's Life
Melissa McCarthy: villain? It may sound unlikely, but the explosive trailer for Identity Thief has the comedienne stealing the identity of regular guy Sandy (Jason Bateman) and using his credit to finance her shopping sprees. When Sandy gets notice of court dates he's been missing across the country, he finally realizes why his credit cards are maxed out. He goes to Florida in search of the "hobbit" (Sandy's words, not mine) who's been using his name, but he doesn't quite anticipate getting throat-punched by Diana (McCarthy). His quest for justice soon turns into a dangerous game, complete with car chases and explosions.
I like Bateman, but he always seems to be embodying the same witty and slightly caustic guy. It's no surprise that his character is reminiscent of the one he played in last year's Horrible Bosses, seeing as Identity Thief is also from director Seth Gordon. On the other hand, this is definitely McCarthy like I've never seen her before. Even though she's the antagonist, she has just the right amount of off-the-wall charm to get me to root for her. It even looks like Sandy likes her by the end of the trailer. Identity Thief comes out on Feb. 8, but you can watch the trailer after the jump.
Emmys: Melissa McCarthy
Aside from being one of the funniest people on the planet, Melissa McCarthy also knows how to turn up the glam for the red carpet. Melissa hit tonight's awards in a black, custom Daniela Kurrle gown. Peasant-style sleeves and lace paneling gave the dress a romantic feel, but it was really all about the accessories. Melissa amped up her look with a studded black clutch, sparkling drop earrings, and a jeweled cocktail ring. How'd she do?

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy shared a scene for The Heat in Boston yesterday. Sandra was all smiles in between takes but got serious during filming with Melissa. It was an extra-special day on set following the news that Melissa was nominated for multiple Emmys. She got a nod for her small-screen role on Mike & Molly and another for her guest spot on Saturday Night Live. Melissa's work also landed her among the highest-paid TV actresses on Forbes's list. She's continuing to juggle her big-screen career as well and has This Is 40 hitting theaters in December.
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy Buddy Up on Their Boston Set
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy reported to the Boston set of The Heat for their latest afternoon of work yesterday. The ladies have been filming the buddy comedy since last week, but there has already been some drama during production. A city bus crashed into a trailer, sending several people to the hospital, though there were apparently no fatal injuries. It looks like Melissa and Sandra are staying focused on the project despite the incident. The funny role is just Melissa's latest, since she also has This Is 40 hitting theaters in December.
Who Wore Watermelon Lipstick Best?
Fruity, bright pink lipstick is one of the year's biggest red carpet trends so far, with celebrities opting for every shade from bubblegum to cranberry. This week, three stars stepped out in equally vivid shades of mid-tone watermelon pink. First up: Emily Blunt, whose glossy lipstick was offset by understated hair and makeup. Then we have Julianne Moore, who wore an almost-matte stain and complemented it with a swoop of her beautiful copper hair. And last but not least, Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy wore a slightly deeper shade and added plenty of false lashes and soft, pretty curls. They all looked great, but which of these looks do you think wins out?
The Ladies Bring Their Best Looks to the Glamorous Oscars Red Carpet
Hollywood's biggest night didn't disappoint as stars hit the Academy Awards red carpet in style. Bright neutrals were a big trend with multiple ladies choosing white looks for their turn in front of the cameras. Cameron Diaz, who presented alongside a Zuhair Murad-clad Jennifer Lopez, went with a strapless Gucci number and nominee Rooney Mara picked Givenchy.

Some famous faces, like Natalie Portman and Emma Stone, chose to match the carpet in crimson hued looks. Natalie had a playful vintage polka-dot dress from Christian Dior as she arrived on the arm of fiancé Benjamin Millepied and Emma Stone, who presented alongside Ben Stiller, tied up her Giambattista Valli ensemble with bright lips. Best actress nominee Michelle Williams accented her orange Christian Dior dress with a pink clutch while Viola Davis brought another pop of color in green Vera Wang and presenter Penelope Cruz showed shoulder in Armani Privé. Adding to the rainbow of shades was also Melissa McCarthy in a custom blush Marina Rinaldi and Maya Rudolph in an embellished purple Johanna Johnson.

Black was big at tonight's Oscars with Angelina Jolie leading the way in a sexy slitted velvet Atelier Versace gown as she arrived with Brad Pitt and his parents Bill and Jane. Bridesmaids' Rose Byrne sparkled in Vivienne Westwood sequins while presenter Tina Fey chose Carolina Herrera. Jessica Chastain and Sandra Bullock mixed up the basic black with Jessica in a gold embroidered McQueen gown that she accented with $2 million of Harry Winston jewels and Sandra in a two-tone Marchesa.
