Web Series About Motherhood Heads for ABC Primetime

Have you ever watched In the Motherhood on the web?

Have you ever watched In the Motherhood on the web? I saw a few clips of it earlier this year, and while I don't really fit into the show's "by moms, for moms" demographic, it's pretty cute and funny — especially Chelsea Handler as an imperfect, wisecracking mom. (Never would have thought of that casting!)

Well, now a version of the show is coming to primetime. ABC has picked up 13 episodes of the series and will likely premiere the show mid-season. The series follows three very different mothers, played online by Handler, Leah Remini, and Jenny McCarthy. Handler is apparently in for the ABC version, but Megan Mullally and Cheryl Hines are in talks to play the other two moms. The writers from Bad Mother's Handbook are moving to this show (guess this means Bad Mother's Handbook is dead?), and it's not clear whether it will still be based on real moms' stories.

I always love it when funny ladies get together for projects, and I think a Handler-Mullally-Hines combo has the potential to be insane. So even though other online series that have moved to TV have been less than successful, I'm tentatively pretty excited for this project. What about you? Do you like the casting? Buzz In: Which Actors Do You Associate With One Character?

It's been a few days, and I still haven't been able to get my head around the notion that Tristan Wilds from The Wire is joining the cast of the 90210 spinoff.

It's been a few days, and I still haven't been able to get my head around the notion that Tristan Wilds from The Wire is joining the cast of the 90210 spinoff. I'm so used to seeing him as this hardened, tough little boy on the streets of Baltimore that it's going to be a challenge to see him among the glitz of posh Beverly Hills — and, to some extent, he's just always going to be Michael.

I can think of a lot of other actors who, like Wilds, so embodied their characters for me that I have a hard time changing the way I think of them. Will and Grace has been off the air for a couple of years now, and I still can't see Megan Mullally as anything but Karen Walker. When Gio pops up on Ugly Betty, it takes me a minute to remember why Freddy Rodriguez isn't in a funeral home a la his Six Feet Under character. And we all know that Jared Padalecki will always be Dean to me.

Felicity Huffman just talked to the Hollywood Reporter about this issue, saying that when you're on a weekly series, "You go into acting jail for a number of years afterwards because people are so tired of your face," and when you get offers, they're all similar to the roles you just played. This is probably the biggest problem on TV, where we can check in with characters weekly, but it can also happen with particularly memorable movie roles (just think of how many people immediately thought of "the lotion girl" from Silence of the Lambs when Brooke Smith joined Grey's Anatomy ). So tell me: Which actors will always just be a certain character to you?

Recast Will and Grace and Win a Prize!

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie.

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

While I liked many things about Will and Grace, I think most of all I liked the well-cast actors who brought to life these wacky characters. But if you had to choose new actors to play Grace, Will, Karen and Jack ("Just Jack!"), who would you pick? Who could do justice to the hilariously lovable foursome?

Leave your entry in the comment section below, and I'll pick one winner to feature Tuesday, February 19, complete with a "new" cast photo.
