The Kings of Summer Trailer: Running Away From Home 101

While you may have threatened to run away from home as a kid, the upcoming indie comedy The Kings of Summer explores what happens when Joe Toy (Nick Robinson) actually does run away.

While you may have threatened to run away from home as a kid, the upcoming indie comedy The Kings of Summer explores what happens when Joe Toy (Nick Robinson) actually does run away. The independence-starved teenager wants to get away from his embarrassing dad (Parks and Recreation's Nick Offerman) to build his own house in the woods. With his own meddling parents to deal with (one of whom is played by Megan Mullally), Joe's best friend Patrick (Gabriel Basso) also agrees to join in, as does another kid, Biaggio (Moises Arias). While their parents consult with the local police, the trio fulfills their fantasy of living out in the wilderness.

The Kings of Summer (previously titled Toy's House) was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival, and I'm a sucker for a good coming-of-age story and already entranced by the whimsical plot. The movie opens on May 31, and you can watch the trailer when you read more.

The Sundance Film Festival is coming to an end on Sunday with Ashton Kutcher's jOBS premiere closing out the festival tonight, but there's already been plenty of action. Jessica Alba goofed around with her A.C.O.D. costar Amy Poehler during a portrait session, while Michael Polish and Kate Bosworth celebrated their project, Big Sur. Earlier in the week, Jessica Biel posed with Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes costars Alfred Molina, Kaya Scodelario, and director Francesca Gregorini at a party while Jake Gyllenhaal flew in to support his mom Naomi Foner's directorial debut, Very Good Girls. Watch Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, and Megan Mullally Use Bongs to Promote a Movie

Nick Offerman produced and stars in the upcoming film Somebody Up There Likes Me, and to promote the movie, he and his costars Alison Brie and Megan Mullally (also Offerman's real-life wife) shot a teaser in which they all smoke out of bongs. It gives absolutely no insight into what the movie is about (in which Offerman plays a divorced man), but it's obviously pretty funny to see the three TV stars having a high old time together.

Watch Megan Mullally Teach Aubrey Plaza, Lake Bell, and More Funny Actresses to Be Cool

If you're a fan of hilarious ladies like Lake Bell, Aubrey Plaza, Casey Wilson, or Lizzy Caplan, you'll want to watch this Funny or Die video starring them as versions of themselves in "Home For Actresses."

If you're a fan of hilarious ladies like Lake Bell, Aubrey Plaza, Casey Wilson, or Lizzy Caplan, you'll want to watch this Funny or Die video starring them as versions of themselves in "Home For Actresses." Megan Mullally plays actress mentor Peggy Dvorak, a vaguely crazy woman who is teaching the women to be "cool." It starts off slow, but it's worth it to get to Plaza admitting that her shtick is an act she learned from Peggy and that she misses laughing. Also hilarious is the one actress Peggy identifies as a dead-end — watch to see who it is.

The Origin of "That's What She Said" Found in Long Beach

"That's what she said" may have The Office to thank for its oversaturation in pop culture, but a middle-aged divorcée (played by Megan Mullaly) claims to know its origin: her.

"That's what she said" may have The Office to thank for its oversaturation in pop culture, but a middle-aged divorcée (played by Megan Mullaly) claims to know its origin: her. During community college in Long Beach, CA, she had a tendency to yell out catchphrases during sex that people started quoting, saying: "That's what she said." Her life has never been the same since.

First Look: In the Motherhood

I'm not a mom, and yet for the past few weeks, I've found myself laughing out loud at the ads for In the Motherhood, ABC's new mommy comedy that premieres on Thursday.

I'm not a mom, and yet for the past few weeks, I've found myself laughing out loud at the ads for In the Motherhood, ABC's new mommy comedy that premieres on Thursday. There's something refreshing about watching a group of very imperfect moms muddling through life together, especially when they're played by such funny ladies.

The show is based on an online series of the same name that incorporates stories from real moms. In this version, Megan Mullally plays Rosemary, a single mom of a teenager who's freewheeling, nontraditional, and prone to inventing her own parenting rules on the spot. Cheryl Hines plays her best friend, Jane, a recently divorced working mom of a pre-teen and a baby who relies on a "manny" (Horatio Sanz) to keep her life running. Rounding out the trio is Jessica St. Clair as Emily, Jane's younger sister, who sees herself as a supermom with a super marriage. Put the three of them together, and it adds up to laughs — plus some surprisingly frank talk about love, sex, and the less-than-rosy sides of being a mom.

TV Tonight: 30 Rock Returns!

Jeez, it's about time 30 Rock came back.

Jeez, it's about time 30 Rock came back. Since the NBC comedy was last on the air, it's picked up a passel of Emmys, and its creator and star, Tina Fey, has gotten wildly famous for her side job as Sarah Palin. Which is all well and good, of course — it's just been quite the wait to see the 30 Rock gang together again, doing what they do best.

In tonight's premiere episode, the first of many guest stars (Megan Mullally) drops by the set of The Girlie Show to evaluate whether Fey's Liz Lemon is a good candidate for adoption, prompting Liz to try to convince her coworkers to act normal. Good luck with that. Also, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) returns from his brief stint in DC to resume his position at the network, putting him toe-to-toe with Devin Banks (Will Arnett), whom Fey recently revealed is based on real NBC entertainment chairman Ben Silverman.

Things really heat up next week, when Oprah makes her highly anticipated guest appearance as Liz Lemon's aisle-mate on a flight. Steve Martin, the whole cast of Night Court, and Jennifer Aniston will be by later in this season, but for tonight, I'll take any 30 Rock I can get.
