Matt LeBlanc Says Finally Winning Golden Globe "Feels Pretty Good!"

Matt LeBlanc finally took home a Golden Globe tonight for his work in Episodes, after being nominated three times for playing Joey on Friends all those years ago.

Matt LeBlanc finally took home a Golden Globe tonight for his work in Episodes, after being nominated three times for playing Joey on Friends all those years ago. In the new series, Matt plays a version of himself and they're currently in the middle of shooting season two in London. When asked about a possible Friends movie, Matt said he doesn't think that is a good idea at all and he's just happy for the writing on his new series. Check it out:

On playing a version of himself: When we started to do the show, my initial reaction was, "What do you mean play myself? I’m not really comfortable with this. We're not doing a documentary." I don't mind being the brunt of a joke if it’s a good joke. So far it's good jokes.

On real Matt Leblanc vs. Episodes Matt LeBlanc: Hopefully the Matt LeBlanc in real life is less damaged. I like to think I have less emotional problems than he does. Hopefully. My job is to make people laugh. If that’s happening than I’ve done my job. It doesn’t really matter if I’m being myself or being the character.

On finally winning, but not for Friends: This is my fourth nomination, I was nominated for the last three years of Friends. When you don’t win you always says it's nice to be nominated, but I gotta say this feels pretty good. Friends was an awesome experience and this is a similar experience. I can't say enough about the writing on the show. I learned my lesson when I did the spin-off, it wasn’t the same. Now I have good writing again and it makes all the difference in the world.

On knowing what is funny: How do I know what's funny? When you read the script if you laugh, chances are it's funny. If you’re rehearsing, if the grips laugh it's probably funny. It nobody’s laughing, it's probably not funny. It’s a pretty simple equation.

Who Is Your Favorite Friends Alum?

Is it just me, or are the Friends stars experiencing a second coming?

Is it just me, or are the Friends stars experiencing a second coming? All six grads are on the Hollywood radar at the moment. Let's break it down: Courteney Cox stars on Cougar Town (a favorite here on Buzz), Matt LeBlanc recently debuted in Showtime's new series Episodes, and Matthew Perry will headline ABC's Mr. Sunshine on February 9.

But they're not the only ones, of course. Jennifer Aniston still maintains her post-Friends popularity, churning out one film after another. Up next for her: Just Go With It which comes out next month — right around the same time as Lisa Kudrow's new movie The Other Woman. Meanwhile, David Schwimmer is enjoying his time behind the camera; he's directing Trust, which is screening at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Even though Friends will always be No. 1 in my book, it's nice to see the cast find success after the show — though I'm pulling for some of the stars more than others. I'm not spilling who in particular, 'cause I want to hear from you first: which Friends alumnus is your favorite?

Matt LeBlanc "Doesn't Mind Being a Punchline" For Episodes

The Winter TCA got to see the face of an old Friend today, when Matt LeBlanc stopped by for his new Showtime series, Episodes.

The Winter TCA got to see the face of an old Friend today, when Matt LeBlanc stopped by for his new Showtime series, Episodes. He was joined by his castmates and showrunners to talk about satirizing himself, the business of Hollywood, and whether Episodes would ever see a Friends reunion.

  • LeBlanc talked about being game to play a satirical version of himself, saying, "I don't mind being the punchline if it's a good joke." He did admit that he wasn't totally sure about the concept of playing himself at first, but when it was clear that the Matt LeBlanc of Episodes is a character, and not really him, "that made it OK for me." As far as what's real LeBlanc vs. the show's LeBlanc, he says that it's going to be "more fun for me to not distinguish between the two and let people make up their mind on what's real and what's not real."
  • On whether there would ever be a Friends reunion on Episodes akin to the one Curb Your Enthusiasm had for Seinfeld, executive producer and creator David Crane said they wouldn't touch it. "We're not looking to write the other Friends in," Crane said, much to my own disappointment as a Friends fan.
  • British actors Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig play the writing couple who get sucked into Hollywood to find out that they've been misled by industry types like John Pankow's character, Merck. Asked if they'd had similar experiences as actors, Mangan said he had, and that it made him realize there's "something about the system that's a bit odd." Greig, on the other hand, said that this is her first time working in America and has only had good experiences. "I believe people when they say, 'You're fantastic.'"

First Look: Episodes Starring Matt LeBlanc as Matt LeBlanc

Matt LeBlanc gives his post-Friends career another go in Showtime's upcoming series, Episodes, and he's playing someone who shouldn't be hard to portray: himself!

Matt LeBlanc gives his post-Friends career another go in Showtime's upcoming series, Episodes, and he's playing someone who shouldn't be hard to portray: himself! (Or at least it's a version of himself). The show centers around a British couple whose UK hit is turned into a American sitcom with LeBlanc. The problem is that he's constantly butting in with unsolicited advice.

We caught an early promo at the Winter TCA earlier this year, but this new trailer sets up more of the story. Though it's a bit long, it's sure to please Joey fans with at least one "How you doin'?" and a Ross and Rachel reference. As LeBlanc pleads in the preview, "Come on, you gotta help me here. I kind of need this." Indeed, indeed. The series premieres Jan. 9, but take a peek when you read more

Buzz In: Which TV Characters Do You Miss the Most?

In case you missed it, Joshua Jackson took a trip down memory lane when he brought Pacey Witter back to life with Pacey-Con a couple of weeks ago.

In case you missed it, Joshua Jackson took a trip down memory lane when he brought Pacey Witter back to life with Pacey-Con a couple of weeks ago. The Funny or Die video totally blew up, and Jackson hasn't been able to avoid talking about it since. More than anything else, the idea has made me nostalgic for the days when Dawson's Creek was part of my life. As much as I love seeing Jackson on Fringe, Pacey Witter will always hold a special place in my heart.

In a similar vein, Matt LeBlanc couldn't dodge Friends references and quips about Joey Tribbiani when he was promoting his upcoming show, Episodes, at the TCA last week. He said he still gets called "Joey" on a regular basis, but that he doesn't mind, saying, "My job is to try to make you believe what I'm saying so if people really believe if I'm that character then I've done by job. I take it as a compliment."

Clearly, Friends fans still miss hearing "How you doin'" on a regular basis (although personally I miss Chandler's one-liners even more). Pacey Witter and Joey Tribbiani are just two of thousands of lovable characters we've met over the years, but which ones do you miss the most?

Old Friends, Gossip Girl Paris, and More Shine at CW and Showtime TCA Day

The TCA rolled on with presentations from Showtime and The CW yesterday after their star-studded party the night before.

The TCA rolled on with presentations from Showtime and The CW yesterday after their star-studded party the night before. Showtime kicked off the morning with The Big C starring Laura Linney and Gabourey Sidibe. Laura spoke passionately about the show and her character, while Gabourey touched on how she still can't believe the past year of her life. The cast of Dexter brought a different tone, as Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and company gave us hints about Dexter's season five before he sat down with us for an exclusive chat. Last up for the network was Matt LeBlanc's Episodes, in which the Friends star plays a fictional version of himself taking on a new acting gig. The trailer was full of jokes about his beloved sitcom, including a Ross and Rachel reference early on. Matt was adorable on stage talking about getting recognized as Joey daily and when asked if he was the first pick for the part, he was quick to joke, "Schimmer said no. . .so did Perry and Lisa."

We spent the afternoon with The CW checking out their two new shows, Nikita with Shane West and Maggie Q, as well as Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka's Hellcats. Then it was time for the really fun stuff, moving onto Gossip Girl in Paris! Josh Schwartz took the stage with Ed Westwick, who represented the cast as the rest stayed behind in NYC to shoot and premiere Chace's movie Twelve. Ed was charming as always, though he gave the juiciest tidbits to us at Wednesday's bash. He and Josh revealed lots of exciting news including whether or not Taylor Momsen will return and who else will be making a comeback. There's still lots more to come, so stay tuned to Buzz on Twitter for updates from the panels!
