Michael Cera — Love Him or Leave Him?

Friends, I think it's time we discussed a topic called Michael Cera backlash.

Friends, I think it's time we discussed a topic called Michael Cera backlash. The root of the problem is that Cera always seems to play the same character (don't believe me? check out this chart of evidence). Keeping right on trend, he's set to produce a TV series called 13th Grade, about a guy who's having trouble transitioning to the real world after graduating from high school. Cera fatigue has also been credited as a possible reason why Scott Pilgrim vs. the World tanked at the box office.

Now, I'm not saying that Cera necessarily deserves the current recoil; I am one of the many, many Arrested Development devotees that fell head over heels for George Michael Bluth, and more importantly, Cera's perfect portrayal of a bumbling adolescent. No matter how many times he's pigeonholed on the big screen, I can always go back to my AD DVD collection to restore my faith in Cera.

What about you — are you tired of seeing Cera playing the same old parts, or does he still amuse you with his deadpan humor and twitchy-yet-lovable characters? Weigh in on the debate!

Justin Bieber: Love Him or Leave Him?

You know him as the pint-sized singer with the signature hair sweep that makes even grown women swoon (Tina Fey, included).

You know him as the pint-sized singer with the signature hair sweep that makes even grown women swoon (Tina Fey, included). From monopolizing the radio to taking over Funny or Die, Justin Bieber has put the entire world under his spell, and now, he's even working on his very own memoir — you know, because 16 is a lifetime when you're a pop star. On top of that, there's a 3D biopic in the works to be released next year.

I'll admit that we've had a sing-a-long (or two) to "Baby" here at Sugar HQ, so we're not completely immune to Bieber's charms, and I know you aren't either! I've seen countless OnSugar posts devoted to his every move, but you've got to admit that he has a lot of hype to live up to. So tell me, are you fully drunk on Bieber fever? Or are you still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about?

Ryan Seacrest: Love Him or Leave Him?

Ryan Seacrest hosts his own radio show, cohosts E!

Ryan Seacrest hosts his own radio show, cohosts E! News, produces reality series including Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and, oh yeah, there's American Idol. Add to that his latest project: a reality dance show for E!. Seacrest has just signed on to create the series, alongside Lady Gaga choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson. Yet another gig for Seacrest? Does the man ever stop?!

As far as business smarts go, Seacrest obviously has them in spades, but sometimes it seems like his success has gone to his head. I guess I can forgive him for that — wouldn't you be a little cocky if you had his resume? — but I'm still mixed. Julianne Hough obviously likes the guy, but what do you make of him?

Jonah Hill: Love Him or Leave Him?

I'm dealing with a case of Jonah Hill overload lately.

I'm dealing with a case of Jonah Hill overload lately. Between Get Him to the Greek and Cyrus, which is opening in my local theater today, I'm seeing his mug on every movie poster I pass!

Here's the deal with Hill: I used to find his crass, coach potato-type characters kind of annoying (e.g., in Knocked Up and Superbad), but recently, I've grown to appreciate the actor's charm. The recent Greek helped me pinpoint why — when he's playing roles that are a bit more toned down, Hill just seems like a regular, sincere guy with a knack for deadpan humor. What's not to love?

Well, I'm sure you'll tell me. Vote below, and tell me if you're a Hill fan or if you don't find him that funny.

James Franco: Love Him or Leave Him?

I just can't figure James Franco out.

I just can't figure James Franco out. One moment I think he's a big goof by guest starring on General Hospital as a character "whose canvas is murder," but then he writes a high-brow analysis of the move, and I then decide that he takes himself too seriously. Now comes news that he's pursuing his PhD at Yale and writing a book, and I think he's back to being earnest about his work. Right on schedule, then, he makes a Funny or Die skit lampooning himself in a fake rehearsal for Jimmy and the Cop (warning: language is NSFW).

I can't tell — is James Franco just a genius that I don't get? He's definitely easy on the eyes, but his wide variety of intellectual and arty pursuits makes me think he's on an advanced plane of thinking that's inaccessible to me. What do you think of him?

Aziz Ansari: Love Him or Leave Him?

It's been a great past couple of years for comic Aziz Ansari — he's picking up more and more movie roles, and has managed to be a standout among many other funny people in NBC comedy Parks and Recreation (his Tom Haverford dominated everyone in this poll).

It's been a great past couple of years for comic Aziz Ansari — he's picking up more and more movie roles, and has managed to be a standout among many other funny people in NBC comedy Parks and Recreation (his Tom Haverford dominated everyone in this poll).

Now comes more good news: Ansari is reportedly in talks to host this year's MTV Movie Awards! I'd say he's a brilliant choice for the irreverent ceremony — Ansari's stand-up is killer, warranting his own comedy tour this Summer.

Still, I get that Aziz is still kind of up-and-coming and not everyone might have warmed to him yet. Where do you stand?

Hugh Jackman: Love Him or Leave Him?

Book Hugh Jackman a ticket to the far East Coast — the actor has been cast in Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, filming in China. Sources differ on whether Jackman's role is a cameo or the leading man role, but we know he'll be making an appearance in the drama, about two female friends "and their imprisonment by rigid cultural norms."

Jackman is a likable enough guy, but it's always a crapshoot when it comes to his movie choices. It may be some of the cheesier films on his resume — case in point: Kate and Leopold and the upcoming robot drama Real Steel. That said, he's a guy you can't seem to hate, and I do think he's a good actor; I particularly loved The Prestige and X-Men. And of course, his triple threat talents make him an able awards-show host.

What about you? Are you a Jackman fan, or just not that into him?

James Marsden: Love Him or Leave Him?

As much as I love to see James Marsden popping up in a romance (you know, he's usually the other guy the girl doesn't end up with; see Enchanted and The Notebook) he's still one of those actors whose name a lot of people still don't know.

As much as I love to see James Marsden popping up in a romance (you know, he's usually the other guy the girl doesn't end up with; see Enchanted and The Notebook) he's still one of those actors whose name a lot of people still don't know.

Hopefully, his face and name will get a little more familiar with time — he has been cast in live action/CGI hybrid I Hop opposite Russell Brand. Marsden plays a slacker, while Brand plays, um, the Easter Bunny whom Marsden's character accidentally injures and then has to take in.

While you're digesting that plot, let's just focus on Marsden. His rakish good looks and charm can lift up a stagnant comedy (ahem, 27 Dresses) but he still makes some questionable work choices (Sex Drive, the upcoming remake of Death at a Funeral). What do you make of him?

Zach Galifianakis — Love Him or Leave Him?

What is up with the Zach Galifianakis fame train?!

What is up with the Zach Galifianakis fame train?! After this Summer's The Hangover, I keep hearing his name. He's already invaded Sunday nights on HBO's Bored to Death, and he has a slew of upcoming films, including a comedy with Robert Downey Jr. and a dramedy opposite Amy Adams. Now, he's reportedly picking up an animated film credit, too, lending his voice to Humpty Dumpty in the Shrek spinoff Puss in Boots.

Could Galifianakis be the next Will Ferrell? Seems like a worthy successor to me — then again, you already knew that I'm a fan of his. Tell me how you feel: love him or leave him?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt — Love Him or Leave Him?

Ever since 500 Days of Summer, I haven't been able to get Joseph Gordon-Levitt off my brain.

Ever since 500 Days of Summer, I haven't been able to get Joseph Gordon-Levitt off my brain. (And yesterday's trailer for Women in Trouble doesn't help!) It's not like I didn't pay attention to him before — I loved 10 Things I Hate About You — but my adoration for this guy is ballooning faster than his career.

Gordon-Levitt has loads of projects coming down the pipeline: his upcoming film Uncertainty just got picked up, and he has Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio and Hesher with Natalie Portman both slated for release next year. Sure, he's kind of an indie guy, but I'd love to see him come into his own as a leading man. (Perhaps he'll even take on the Jack Ryan series someday?)

All right, so I've gushed enough, but am I alone in my crush? Do you see the JGL appeal that I'm talking about, or is he still just the geeky guy from 3rd Rock From the Sun? What do you think of Joseph Gordon-Levitt — love him or leave him?
