First Look: Madonna, Linkin Park on the Live Earth DVD

Earlier this month, I told you that the CD/DVD set of the Live Earth concert would be one of my surefire must-haves for November.

Earlier this month, I told you that the CD/DVD set of the Live Earth concert would be one of my surefire must-haves for November. Well, the bad news is that it appears the release date for the package has been pushed back till Dec. 4 — but the good news is that we don't have to wait to check out the DVD-ready versions of some of the performances.

Linkin Park's "Bleed It Out" from the Japan concert — set to be the live album's first single — and Madonna's rendition of "La Isla Bonita" with Gogol Bordello in London are among the clips Warner Bros. is letting us see early. There's also a video of Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins performing at the Sydney concert, and while I didn't know Higgins' music before, I'm kind of digging her folksy song, "Steer" — I'm surprised it hasn't already turned up on an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Madonna Gets Cozy With Gogol Bordello

When I first saw these photos of Madonna walking with Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz, I couldn't help but wonder: How did this unlikely pair meet?

When I first saw these photos of Madonna walking with Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz, I couldn't help but wonder: How did this unlikely pair meet? And why was Hutz wearing kitten heels?

Though I haven't yet learned the answer to the second question, it turns out that Madonna and Hutz are quite the close collaborators these days. Hutz, who fronts the gypsy-punk Bordello and also stars in Everything Is Illuminated, is working on Madonna's forthcoming short film, Filth & Wisdom.

In addition to acting in the film, Hutz contributed to the script and will lend his music to soundtrack for the movie, which is expected to debut next year at Sundance. Apparently, Madonna really likes Gogol Bordello, because the band also joined her onstage at Live Earth in London for a polka-infused rendition of "La Isla Bonita." It's really a fun performance to watch, so check out the video (thanks, Pitchfork) when you read more

Live Earth Rocks The World on 7/7/07

Live Earth went down on Saturday and boy did the stars come out for the big event.

Live Earth went down on Saturday and boy did the stars come out for the big event. Concert venues ranged from London to South Africa, Tokyo to New York and everywhere in between (including Antarctica, at which a few of the resident scientists performed), raising awareness about global warming. Eco-friendly stars like Cameron & Leo (looking very hot, btw) made cameos as well as some new faces on the environmental scene. Obviously the festival itself had a considerable impact on the environment (putting it lightly), but hopefully it turned some heads in the meantime. It sounded like not too many of you were planning on tuning in, but did anyone actually watch? Stand out performances?

To see Madonna perform Hey You the song she recorded special for the event and to see LOTS more pics of all the celebrities and performers including (but definitely not limited to) Leo, Cameron, Rihanna, Al Gore, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Bacon, the Beastie Boys and many more just read more

TV Tonight: Live Earth

Cities around the world today will be filled with the sounds of the Live Earth concert — actually a series of nine concerts in cities including New York, Johannesburg, Tokyo and Sydney to raise awareness about climate change. The 24-hour, seven-continent concert will bring together more than 100 entertainers, including superstars The Police and Kanye West (New York), Madonna (London), Lenny Kravitz (Rio), and Shakira (Hamburg).

NBC will broadcast a three-hour special featuring highlights from the day's events and live performances from New York tonight, but that's not all. Bravo will have 18 hours of live coverage, and several of NBC's other channels — including the Sundance Channel and Telemundo — also will carry parts of the broadcast. The networks and concert organizers are also working together to keep commercial interruptions to a minimum.

If you're watching the coverage today, check in here and let us know which performers were your favorites. MSN will be streaming coverage online all day, and to see which channels will be broadcasting the concert in the United States — and to watch a video about Spinal Tap reuniting to perform in London — read more

Take Part in LIVE EARTH

Since FitSugar readers care so much about the Earth, I wanted to let you know that on this Saturday, on 7.7.07, you can take part in Live Earth.

Since FitSugar readers care so much about the Earth, I wanted to let you know that on this Saturday, on 7.7.07, you can take part in Live Earth. It's a 24-hour, 7 continent concert series that will bring together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to solve the climate crisis.

Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group and other international organizations to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance and Partner of Live Earth.

There are some simple things we all can do to help combat global warming: turn off lights when you leave a room, unplug appliances that are not in use, take shorter showers (heating the water takes energy), walk or ride your bike more and drive your car less (if that's not possible, carpool or take public transportation), plant a tree, keep windows covered on a hot day so you don't have to use the AC as much, and dry washed clothes outside instead of in a dryer.

You can also check out the Live Earth concerts. If you want to find out where they'll be and some of the artists, then read more

Madonna's Getting In On The Green Fun

Lately we've been hearing a lot about Madonna the fashion designer, but it looks like she's ready to put her singing cap (and dancing shoes) back on.

Lately we've been hearing a lot about Madonna the fashion designer, but it looks like she's ready to put her singing cap (and dancing shoes) back on. Madge has signed on to take part in Al Gore's Live Earth concert, along with a ton of the hottest acts in the music industry. It seems like just yesterday Cameron Diaz was with Gore and Pharrell announcing the big event. It's awesome that so many celebs are pitching in to help spread environmental awareness - maybe we should change Pop's colors from hot pink to lime green.

Al Gore Lines Up His Friends for Live Earth

The Earth is getting warmer, but Al Gore just keeps getting cooler, and winning an Oscar certainly didn't hurt.

The Earth is getting warmer, but Al Gore just keeps getting cooler, and winning an Oscar certainly didn't hurt. Now, the former vice president is recruiting his cool new friends — including Ludacris, Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews, and The Police — for an earth-shaking concert that will span 24 hours and seven continents called Live Earth.

Yesterday, the organizers revealed a list of performers lined up for the U.S. show, which will be held on July 7 (that's 7-7-07) at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Tickets go on sale next Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. EDT. Over in London, a separate show will feature equally impressive names, including Madonna and the Beastie Boys. Cameron Teams Up with Gore to Announce Live Earth

Cameron, Al Gore and Pharrell got together yesterday to announce plans for a Live Earth concert.

Cameron, Al Gore and Pharrell got together yesterday to announce plans for a Live Earth concert. The event will hopefully raise awareness and money for environmental organizations in the same way that Live Aid did for Famine, Farm Aid did for farming and Live 8 did for Africa. The event, which will take place on 7 continents on July 7th, has already lined up stars like Pharrell, John Legend, Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson. Obviously, more acts will be announced as the plans progress.

With Cameron's obvious love for the environment, she is the perfect spokesperson to help generate buzz for this event. There are already 100 performers on board and we bet many other celebs will be at the events to lend their voice. One couple who won't be present, Eva and Tony cuz you know, they'll be busy getting married and all.
