Lena tweeted her excitement about the event, writing, "I'm a guest at Barnard College graduation today. At my own graduation I sobbed, hit my mother and fell asleep, so pretty psyched for a redo." Afterward, Lena accompanied her boyfriend, Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, to the studio to watch him record a track and Instagrammed the adventure, writing, "Take your girlfriend to work night."

Lena commented on getting on the Time 100 list, saying that the first person she told about being on the list was her father. She said, "I called my dad because he was a layout editor at Time in the 1970s, so I was super psyched, and I wanted to tell him that I was making good in his former institution. I heard there was a drinks cart when he worked there." Meanwhile, Daniel, who picked up the best actor award at this year's Oscars, commented that he is "more than mildly astonished" that he landed on the list.
