What to Rent: New DVDs This Week

Are you in the mood for an action fest?

Are you in the mood for an action fest? How about a sweet animated children's movie? Perhaps you prefer something with more heft, like an Italian arthouse flick. Whatever your taste, this week's DVD releases have you covered. Take a look.

Jonah Hex

Based on the DC Comic character, Josh Brolin stars as Jonah Hex, a bristly outlaw with a hole in his face. His mission: to seek vengeance on Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich), the man responsible for the murders of his wife and child. Oh, and Hex can also speak to the dead. Megan Fox steps in as the antihero's rough and tough leading lady, but it's Brolin who stands out. As Hex, he's more interesting to watch than the action of the film itself. The DVD extras include deleted scenes.

How to Train Your Dragon

Jay Baruchel provides the voice of Hiccup, a young Viking who befriends a dragon — the very creature he's supposed to be hunting. The animated film stayed at the top of the box office for weeks and garnered good reviews. With a sequel in the works already, we might have a franchise on our hands. Bonus features include a filmmakers' commentary and two featurettes.

Box Office: Toy Story 3 Reaches For the Sky, Breaks Records

Woody and Buzz are back!

Woody and Buzz are back! It's a happy return for the Toy Story franchise, with Toy Story 3 raking in $109 million in its opening weekend — the highest grossing debut ever for Pixar. It booted The Karate Kid, which fell from the top spot to No. 2 with $29 million.

Bradley Cooper and the boys of The A-Team came in third $13.7 million, followed by Get Him to the Greek with $6.1 million for fourth and Shrek Forever After in fifth with $5.5 million.

The other new release of the weekend, Jonah Hex, bowed with $5 million for an eighth place spot – disappointing, but not that surprising given its scathing reviews (including my own).

Megan Stays Busy Premiering Jonah Hex but Plans to Wait on Marrying Brian

Megan Fox teamed up with her onscreen leading man, Josh Brolin, last night for the LA premiere of their movie Jonah Hex.

Megan Fox teamed up with her onscreen leading man, Josh Brolin, last night for the LA premiere of their movie Jonah Hex. Inquiring minds wanted to know the latest about Megan's plans to marry longtime boyfriend, Brian Austin Green, but she was vague on the topic. Megan said of their wedding date, "It's going to be years! I'm going to be 44 when I get married!" Since Megan lost her engagement ring shortly after Brian proposed, she instead accessorized her little red dress with floral jewelry. Brian didn't accompany Megan to the screening, but Josh had wife Diane, dad James, and step-mom Barbara Streisand on hand. Buzz wasn't exactly a big fan of Megan and Josh's film, but at least you seemed to like her latest round of ads for Armani underwear.

Jonah Hex: A Hatchet Job

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is one tough mother.

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is one tough mother. A bounty killer, he saunters through small Western towns, dragging the dead behind him (whatever body parts his horse can't carry, he cuts up into pieces). His reputation precedes him wherever he goes, and whenever he leaves, buildings explode into a fiery blaze. But Hex is no villain — or at least, the movie doesn't want you to think so; he's just your gritty anti-hero searching for vengeance.

While it may not have web-slinging or spandex, Jonah Hex is actually based on a DC Comic. As the story goes, Hex is a Confederate soldier in the Civil War who killed the brother of his arch enemy Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). Because of his actions, an angry Turnbull comes after Hex, kills his wife and son, and then brands a giant hole into his face. As a result, Hex talks out of the side of his mouth, but Hex isn't the only who has a gaping hole to attend to — the movie itself has several. To hear what I mean, just read more

Megan Fox’s Tiny Waist Secret: Corsets

We're thrilled to present our favorite InStyle story here on Fab!

We're thrilled to present our favorite InStyle story here on Fab!

Megan Fox will soon appear in the comic book adaptation Jonah Hex, which takes place in the Wild West, but all anyone who’s seen the trailer wants to talk about is her tiny waist. “It’s small,” the star admitted to MTV. With the help of vintage corsets, she explained, “we got it down to about 18 inches.” That, you may recall, is Scarlett O’Hara territory. Megan said she wouldn’t mind if the close-fitting foundation garments made a comeback: “I enjoy them . . . maybe I’m sick,” she joked. But after hearing that the ones she wore in the film “would leave these deep grooves, these deep indents from the boning in the corsets, for the whole next day,” we’re happy to leave them in the past. Do you think corsets should have a place in your closet? Tell us in the comments below.

Megan Fox Hopes Corsets Make a Comeback

Staring in Jonah Hex, a new action Western film, is Megan Fox and her 18-inch waist.

Staring in Jonah Hex, a new action Western film, is Megan Fox and her 18-inch waist. Naturally, all gun-wielding prostitutes need to have a tiny midsection, right? The actress wore an extremely tight-fitting corset to achieve her tiny waist. Megan talked waist size with MTV News, "It's small. We got it down to 18 inches. But in the action scenes, we loosened it up, because everyone was afraid I was going to pass out."

The 24-year-old actress also explained the lasting impressions left by the old fashioned garment:

At the end of the day when we would take it off, it would leave these deep grooves, these deep indents from the boning in the corset. I'd have it for the whole next day. The next 24 hours I'd be imprinted with the corset. It hurts your ribs!"

Even after admitting that her torso ached once the corset was removed, Fox still loves having her waist cinched, exclaiming,"I do think there's a place for corsets. I think they should come back. They should make a reappearance. I enjoy them, but maybe I'm sick."

I can't even wear heels for more than an hour since they hurt my feet and back, but what do you think about suffering through pain in the name of fashion? Would you wear a corset or any other type of restrictive clothing to look thinner?
