Charlize Is All Grown Up in Ravishing Red at Young Adult Premiere

Charlize Theron led the way in a sexy little red dress at the NYC screening of Young Adult last night. While there was no date on her arm, Charlize looked happy to be in the company of costars including Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wilson, and Elizabeth Reaser. Young Adult screenwriter Diablo Cody was also decked out for the event while Jason Reitman was in his usual attire. Charlize's character in the movie seems a long way from her stunning and strong self, though in the age of Facebook even Charlize admitted to checking in on her high school crush. Charlize is also getting great reviews for her part in the movie and with award season around the corner, we'll hopefully see a lot more daring and impressive red-carpet looks from the actress.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman Makes Her Postbaby Event Debut!

Natalie Portman made one her first public appearances last night after welcoming her son, Aleph Millepied, earlier this year.

Natalie Portman made one her first public appearances last night after welcoming her son, Aleph Millepied, earlier this year. Joining other stars like Mindy Kaling, director Jason Reitman, and Steve Carell, Natalie participated in the Film Independent At LACMA series with a live reading of the 1960 Billy Wilder film The Apartment in LA. Rounding out the cast were Collette Wolfe, Jake Johnson, Pierce Brosnan, Ken Jeong, and Nick Kroll. Mindy tweeted about Natalie's good looks postbaby with her characteristic humor. She wrote, "Surprised to see Steve Carell and Natalie Portman both looking like teenagers. Ugh, so unfair — kill me."

Natalie has been on the West Coast with her young son Aleph as well as her fiancé Benjamin Millepied. The family of three caught up with West Coast-based friends following a whirlwind Fall of traveling that included time in NYC, France, and Switzerland. Natalie and Benjamin have made sure to offer Aleph some culture while in California and were seen showing him the Huntington Library and gardens just a few weeks ago.

Young Adult Trailer: Charlize Theron Doesn't Wanna Grow Up

The title of Young Adult may refer to the literary genre that Charlize Theron's character dabbles in, but it's clear that her character is a bit of an overgrown child herself.

The title of Young Adult may refer to the literary genre that Charlize Theron's character dabbles in, but it's clear that her character is a bit of an overgrown child herself. Theron plays Mavis, a former high school mean girl who's still stuck in the past (as evidenced by more than just her Hello Kitty t-shirt), and returns to her hometown to reclaim her ex-boyfriend (Patrick Wilson). Though he's married and expecting a baby, deluded Mavis still has full confidence in her powers of persuasion.

The movie reteams Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman, and I was happy to see that there's plenty of dry humor here without an onslaught of Cody's signature invented slang. Theron fits the role of the still-gorgeous former teen queen like a glove, and Patton Oswalt provides a nice foil as the only guy in town who can still stand her. The film hits theaters on Dec. 16, but take a look at the trailer when you read more

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet Makes a Date For Labor Day With Josh Brolin

I love it when one of my favorite actors teams up with one of my favorite directors.

I love it when one of my favorite actors teams up with one of my favorite directors. Kate Winslet will star in the drama Labor Day, the film adaption of Joyce Maynard's novel. Jason Reitman is on board to direct the movie, which will follow Winslet's character, a single mother of a young son who takes in a stranger, and then falls for him over Labor Day weekend. Josh Brolin is set to play the stranger, who is an escaped convict hiding out with Winslet's character. I've missed Winslet on the big screen dearly — though she recently starred in HBO's miniseries Mildred Pierce, she hasn't been in a film since 2008's Revolutionary Road.

Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody to Reunite, Now With Charlize

When director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody joined forces for Juno, it was a match made in Hollywood (and Oscar-winning) heaven.

When director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody joined forces for Juno, it was a match made in Hollywood (and Oscar-winning) heaven. Now we'll find out if lightning can strike twice, as Reitman and Cody are putting their heads together once again for Young Adult, with Charlize Theron in talks to star in the film. Theron would play a novelist for young adults who returns to her hometown to try to reconnect with an ex-boyfriend from her past. It's being labeled as a dark comedy, but let's hope it's not Jennifer's Body dark. This is quite the triumvirate of heavy-hitters, so let's just say they've set the bar pretty high for themselves.

Up in the Air: A First Class Flight

As I mentioned in my December movies preview, we're officially in the midst of awards-buzz season.

As I mentioned in my December movies preview, we're officially in the midst of awards-buzz season. One of this year's most talked about films is Up in the Air, and all the hype has raised plenty of questions. Can Jason Reitman improve on the success of Juno? Does Clooney deserve all the hype surrounding his performance? How many parts comedy and how many parts drama is a "dramedy" anyway? I walked out the theater with my questions answered, a lot of food for thought, and that rare but wonderful mix of satisfaction and introspection that you can only get from a great film.

Jason Reitman wrote the screen adaption of the Walter Kirn novel with George Clooney starring as Ryan Bingham. To know Ryan is to fly with him; at least that's what he tells those he surrounds himself with — his co-workers, fellow fliers, and temporary buddies at airport bars. To Ryan, acquaintances are as disposable as hotel shampoo bottles and in-flight alcohol nips. As a professional corporate downsizer, Ryan even makes a living by helping bosses fire employees. He moonlights as a motivational speaker, advising his peers to cut as much emotional baggage out of their lives as possible. To see the rest of my review, read more

George Clooney

George Brings Elisabetta Up in the Air!

George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis glowed together at last night's LA premiere of Up in the Air, fresh off their bikini filled Thanksgiving in Mexico.

George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis glowed together at last night's LA premiere of Up in the Air, fresh off their bikini filled Thanksgiving in Mexico. Their sunbathing buddy Cindy Crawford joined them on the red carpet decked out in a sexy purple number. George's costar and New Moon actress Anna Kendrick wore a one-shoulder white gown. Anna should apparently start getting used to picking out formal wear since as embarrassed as she may be, she's getting Oscar hype already for her role in the Clooney film. The movie hits theaters this month, and Buzz chatted with director Jason Reitman about who he'd like to work with, George's pranks and tackling such a timely subject matter.
