6 of James Cameron's Geekiest Film Endeavors

In terms of geek street credibility, nothing gives you more one-ups than painstakingly re-creating a historic film so intensely that a state-of-the-art submarine is used to investigate the story line's artifacts.

In terms of geek street credibility, nothing gives you more one-ups than painstakingly re-creating a historic film so intensely that a state-of-the-art submarine is used to investigate the story line's artifacts. James Cameron may win the '90s geek medal of honor for his attention to detail in Titanic and its celestially accurate (thank you, as always, Neil deGrasse Tyson) rerelease this week, but his love of all things sci-fi and nerd culture extends far beyond the tragic tale of the "unsinkable" ship. Take a look back at the director's creations, from the mysteries of the ocean to a future of terrifying alien life.

James Cameron recently took a trip to "another world" — a seven-mile journey to the bottom of the Mariana Trench — and he was the first person to ever do so solo. Of course, it's not his first go-round with deep sea diving. He also researched the underwater grave of the Titanic after producing the feature film, which coincidentally hits theaters again today in 3D. If you've got a passion for underwater mysteries like James Cameron, get into the mood with some of these films that explore the darkness of the deep, no wet suit required.

Kate Winslet Reunites With James Cameron and Billy Zane at Titanic 3D Premiere

Kate Winslet ruled the red carpet at this evening's London premiere of Titanic 3D, held at the Royal Albert Hall. She posed for pictures alongside the movie's director, James Cameron, who's fresh off an exciting adventure. He was near Guam just a few days ago, setting a deep-sea record exploring nearly seven miles under the Pacific Ocean. Kate's main man from the iconic film, Leonardo DiCaprio, skipped out on the event. However, she had the company of another costar, Billy Zane. Even Kate's boyfriend, Ned Rocknroll, was seen sneaking into the theater for the screening. Ned has been by Kate's side for the last few weeks as she jetted around the world talking up the rerelease of Titanic.

On her way into Royal Albert Hall, Kate spoke about seeing Titanic 15 years after it was first released. She said, "[It's like] a home video. It’s like saying, 'We’re going to show three and a half years of your life, live to the Albert Hall!'"

Jessica Alba rocked jeans and a black blazer while out running errands in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon, but she changed into a long, white Dolce & Gabanna gown by the evening to attend the annual Covenant House gala and dinner. She mingled with two of her favorite people, director James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis, at the philanthropic event, which raised funds to support the charity's work with homeless youth. Jessica even presented James and Suzy with a special award to recognize their activism on behalf of the organization. The night of good deeds was Jessica's latest red carpet event after she attended the CFDA Awards in NYC on Monday night. A less formal, but possibly more important event happened for Jessica on Tuesday, when she and her husband Cash Warren celebrated their daughter Honor's third birthday.

Kristen Stewart Is Sole Female Among Top 15 Highest Earners

Ladies, we have come a long way since the days of fighting for women's suffrage.

Ladies, we have come a long way since the days of fighting for women's suffrage. From business to sports, we've advanced our professional status by leaps and bounds. So I was truly amazed to discover that on Vanity Fair's recently released "Hollywood's Top 40," a list of Tinseltown's top moneymakers, only one lady landed a top-15 title.

Love her or hate her (and her acting chops), No. 13 Kristen Stewart was the highest ranking female on the list with estimated 2010 earnings of $28.5 million, beating out onscreen vampire hubby, Robert Pattinson. I really shouldn't be surprised since women make about 21 percent less than men on average. However, I figured Hollywood plays by different rules; I assumed that the amount of star power some of these starlets hold and media attraction from the paparazzi would dictate their worth. Apparently, I was wrong; it pays to be the boss — just ask list leader, James Cameron, who earned an estimated $257 million for writing, directing, and producing Avatar.
