Sam Mendes in Talks to Direct Bond 23, Production Moved Up

Ride the Bond 23 roller coaster right here, folks: after reports that the latest installment in the James Bond franchise had been stalled due to MGM's financial concerns, it appears that the opposite is happening: Bond 23 (its current moniker until the real title is adopted) is being fast-tracked to begin production this Summer.

What's even more exciting is that Sam Mendes is in negotiations to direct.

I'm a big Mendes fan and am curious to see how he'd tackle a big-budget action flick, especially one as high profile as a James Bond movie. As for details on the movie itself, there's not too much (no Bond girl cast yet), but one interesting tidbit — 23 is partly set in New York. What are your thoughts on Mendes directing — or Bond 23 in general?

Study Proves That Bond Loves His Dark-Haired Ladies

Are you a gun-toting, long- and dark-haired lady with a penchant for danger?

Are you a gun-toting, long- and dark-haired lady with a penchant for danger? Then James Bond will love you. I'm still getting over the fact that there was an actual Pussy Galore character in one of the flicks in the Bond franchise. I'm also getting over the fact that researchers from Cleveland State University took the time to delve deeper into the female characteristics preferred by everyone's favorite British spy. A recent study published in the journal Sex Roles proved that of the 195 women in Bond's first 20 films, 40 percent had black hair, 19 percent were brunettes, nine percent were redheads, and 27 percent were blondes.

Their average age was 26, and not surprisingly, he was more likely to sleep with the slimmer, younger, and better-looking women of the bunch. Also, while 007 seemed to end up in sexual liaisons with the longer-haired women, the study concluded that their hair has actually gotten shorter over time. Looking to get a snapshot of the Bond's ideal lady and his chauvinistic ways? The researchers recommend checking out Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead (groan) in Moonraker or Lana Wood as Plenty O'Toole (ugh) in Diamonds Are Forever.

It's the ultimate showdown (of today): Jason Bourne vs. James Bond! Which character do you prefer? Matt Damon recently had some nasty words to say about James Bond and though I can see his point, I still enjoy the classic character — especially as interpreted by our most recent Bond, Daniel Craig.

So who is it for you: James Bond or Jason Bourne?

Part of the fun of James Bond movies (like this weekend's Quantum of Solace) is seeing what each new actor brings to the role. There are always a few givens, since Bond has to be charming, stylish, clever and good with a gun. Oh, and he has to look great in a tux.

But this leaves room for variation, with each actor having a different take on how slick or funny or tough his Bond is. So who do you think makes the best James Bond?

Her name is Kurylenko, Olga Kurylenko. While acting is her forte, there's no denying the killer beauty of my new Fab favorite. Olga took the opportunity to show off her sultry and sophisticated style while out on her nationwide promotion of Quantum of Solace. Bond's lady doesn't disappoint. While you eagerly await the movie, quench your thirst and check out some of Olga's hottest looks. P.S. Happy birthday, Olga!

Daniel Has No Need For Solace at His Bond Screening

Daniel Craig has been busy premiering Quantum of Solace in Europe, and last night he finally came to the US with his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell for a screening in NYC.

Daniel Craig has been busy premiering Quantum of Solace in Europe, and last night he finally came to the US with his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell for a screening in NYC. While the film's female stars skipped the event, Daniel recently said any of his former co-stars like Cate Blanchett, Gwyneth Paltrow or Nicole Kidman would make great Bond girls for future installments. He wasn't lacking in female company last night, though — Becki Newton, Debra Messing and Molly Sims all took a stroll down the red carpet. They were later joined by a sexy-looking and solo-rolling Jon Hamm at the after party, adding just a little extra hotness to the already star-studded evening.
