Witchy Wisdom From Harry Potter Heroines and Villainesses

Happy birthday, J.K. Rowling! Even though the British author has concluded her Harry Potter book and film series, she still has a lot to celebrate on her 47th birthday.

Happy birthday, J.K. Rowling! Even though the British author has concluded her Harry Potter book and film series, she still has a lot to celebrate on her 47th birthday. J.K. Rowling participated in the Olympics opening ceremony, and her infamous villain Voldemort had a starring role in the production. We're also eagerly awaiting her novel for adults The Casual Vacancy, which is out in September.

With her real-life story of rags to riches, J.K is truly an inspiring role model for girls and women aspiring for greatness. But it's also the characters she's created who have made an impact over the years. J.K. has created strong, smart, and complex ladies for the Harry Potter franchise who have some of the best one-liners. In honor of her birthday — which she shares with her boy wizard character, Harry Potter — let's look back at the other life advice uttered from the good, the bad, and the psycho witches of the Harry Potter books and films (including Molly Weasley's infamous foulmouthed line!).

A Luxury Tree House Like J.K. Rowling's: Kid-Friendly or Are You Kidding?

We've showed off some impressive (and over-the-top) outdoor playhouses and structures, but the almost-$250,000 tree house being created for J.K.

We've showed off some impressive (and over-the-top) outdoor playhouses and structures, but the almost-$250,000 tree house being created for J.K. Rowling by British company Blue Forest might be the craziest, coolest treehouse we've ever seen. According to the BBC, Rowling's two giant, two-story tree houses will keep her three children (ages 18, 9, and 7) entertained with spiral staircases, turrets, trapdoors, nature boxes to attract birds, and balconies. The two structures will be built on wooden stilts and will be connected by a rope bridge.

Check out some photos of treehouses Blue Forest has built for other clients above (yep, Rowling isn't the only parent who's commissioned one of its Hogwarts-style houses), some of which include radiant floor heating, television and Internet connections, zip lines, kitchens, and bathrooms. So if you had the funds to build a Blue Forest tree retreat for your kids, would you? Weigh in below.

Would You Read a J.K. Rowling Book Aimed at Adults?

Attention all Harry Potter fans!

Attention all Harry Potter fans! J.K. Rowling is writing a new novel, but this time she's aiming for an older audience. There's no title, publication date, or even an announcement of what the book will be about, but Rowling has promised something "very different" from Potter.

This project will be the first work Rowling has put out since the 2008 release of the Harry Potter spinoff The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and it's been more than five years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As Potter fans, I'm curious as to what you think about this new endeavor. Would you want to read a book by Rowling that was completely unrelated to Harry Potter and aimed at adults, or would you rather she stick to extending her wizard legacy?

The final Harry Potter film opens this week, and while fans everywhere are getting ready to bid the series farewell in theaters, author J.K. Rowling is hoping Potter supporters will get excited for the next adventure coming their way: Pottermore.

The site, which was announced last month, will be a social hub of all things Potter, where fans can interact with each other, learn more about the world of Harry (thanks to new details to be revealed by the author herself), and a place to purchase ebooks, audiobooks, and more. The Pottermore Twitter account has been releasing sneak peek images of the site over the past few weeks, so take a look at what's in store here!

Emma Watson Steals the Show in a Sexy Mini Dress With Daniel and Rupert at Harry Potter World Premiere!

Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint led the way for the rest of the cast at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I premiere in London this evening. The rainy evening didn't get in the way of the star-studded red carpet, on which adorable Emma looked stunning in her reworked vintage lacy minidress. Despite the cold, she spent hours greeting the multitude of fans who waited hours for a glimpse at the movie's stars. Daniel and Rupert looked dapper in their suits and excitedly signed autographs and waved to the huge crowds. PopSugar UK is twittering live from the event and you can watch a live stream on their site. Emma, Daniel, and Rupert kicked off promotions yesterday with a press event where they also sported the poppy pins in honor of Remembrance Day today. Don't miss all our Harry Potter coverage and stay tuned for more updates from the UK!

An Author, a Spice Girl, and the Queen Are UK's Most Influential

Michelle Obama might be the most powerful woman in the world according to Forbes, but in the UK she has to compete with Harry Potter author J.K.

Michelle Obama might be the most powerful woman in the world according to Forbes, but in the UK she has to compete with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. To celebrate its 100th birthday, the National Magazine company revealed its list of most influential women in the UK. The queen came in at number three, dethroned by Rowling (number one) and former Spice Girl and current style icon Victoria Beckham (number two).

So how does the UK-specific list stack up to Forbes's recent ranking? In the UK, stylish people like Posh, Vivienne Westwood, and Kate Moss fill out the top 10. On the Forbes list, Beyonce Knowles is the only credited "fashion designer" to crack the first 10. On the UK list, first lady Samantha Cameron comes in at ninth place, so apparently having the ear of the country's leader doesn't make you as influential in England as it does in the US. And while author Rowling tops the list in the UK, the most influential female author according to Forbes is Chelsea Handler, who placed number 33 overall.

Which list do you think comes closest to defining influence?

Do You Want More Harry Potter Books?

As a Harry Potter superfan, I'm both excited for the final films in the anthology to be released (Deathly Hallows Part I is out Nov. 19) but also disappointed that Part II will wrap up the film adaptations. The end of the movies signifies the true end of the Harry Potter series in terms of things to look forward to, and I'm prepping myself for the depression. But maybe I won't have to, if author J.K. Rowling makes good on the hopeful statements she recently made to Oprah Winfrey: "I could definitely write an eighth, ninth, 10th [book]."

I had closed the book (pun intended) on more Potter books, but I would gladly read any extension of the series Rowling were to make. Then again, I felt that Harry's story was wrapped up so neatly and eloquently that I almost wouldn't want to mess with it. What do you think?

Another month, another trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This one is just as mesmerizing as the last and includes some new tidbits (and more Ron Weasley!). Just like the other Potter movies, Half-Blood Prince looks like it will be visually stunning. I'm constantly amazed at the beautiful, fantastical world created for us in these films and this one is no exception.
