Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, and Zachary Quinto joined their Star Trek Into Darkness cast mates Alice Eve and Simon Pegg, along with director J.J. Abrams, for the film's German premiere in Berlin today following a morning press conference. Zoe Saldana stunned in a short and colorful Balmain number, while Alice went for a glamorous Emilio Pucci gown. Before heading into the premiere, Zoe, Alice, and Zachary all threw up the signature Star Trek Vulcan salute..

While Chris have been showcasing the latest installation of the Star Trek series with his crew, his personal life has taken a different turn. Chris and model girlfriend Dominique Piek recently split after nearly a year of dating, which he confirmed while at this year's CinemaCon. Chris has plenty to keep him busy, though, since promotions for the Star Trek sequel will continue until the sci-fi classic hits IMAX theaters on May 15 and then expands to regular theaters on May 17. Until then, check out all the Star Trek Into Darkness movie posters.

In our Star Trek fan memorabilia wish list, we already have a Mr. Potato Head, an engagement ring, and a Spock oven mitt, but we'll gladly forget those if it means getting our hands on an official Star Trek Into Darkness surfboard.

Watch J.J. Abrams Talk His "Mind-Blowing" Tech Inspiration

J.J. Abrams is top of mind right now for geeks, as it was revealed Thursday he was in final talks to direct Star Wars Episode VII. While everyone seemed to have an opinion on the news, it reminded us of the sci-fi credentials already on his résumé. There are plenty of examples from his career — from bringing Star Trek back to the big screen to the story of a small town under alien attack in Super 8 — to ease a geek's mind concerning this uneasy Tatooine transition.

But where does the man who never seems to creatively rest get all this inspiration? Watch J.J. talk about his adoration of the design of Apple computers and even show off some Star Wars trivia in his TED Talk from 2007.

J.J. Abrams to Direct Star Wars 7 — Is He the Best Choice?

Though it hasn't been confirmed by Disney yet, word on the street is that J.J.

Though it hasn't been confirmed by Disney yet, word on the street is that J.J. Abrams is set to direct the latest Star Wars sequel, which would be the seventh in the franchise. News that the the series is being rebooted came when Lucasfilm was sold to Disney last year, and this is some of the first development news we've heard about the refreshed Stars Wars.

Though Abrams had commented last year that he wasn't interested in taking on the movie, I'm thrilled he's changed his mind. Abrams is sci-fi royalty, after bringing originality to the small screen with shows like Lost and Fringe and maintaining the magic of Star Trek when he directed its big-screen reboot. If Star Wars has to be resuscitated, then I'm relieved it'll be in Abrams's hands. But do you agree?

J.J. Abrams Set to Direct Star Wars Episode VII: Twitter Reacts

Sci-fi mastermind J.J. Abrams is adding one more geek badge to his already robust directing career.

Sci-fi mastermind J.J. Abrams is adding one more geek badge to his already robust directing career. The man behind Star Trek and Lost is reportedly set to spearhead the next film in the Star Wars saga for Disney and Lucasfilm. After announcing the acquisition of the studio George Lucas built in late October 2012, Disney then noted Star Wars: Episode VII is slated for 2015.

The director has produced, directed, and wrote for countless films and TV shows (seriously, when does he rest?!) over the course of his 20-something year career — including Armageddon, Cloverfield, Alias, and Fringe. It looks like J.J. is well qualified to take on the Star Wars universe: but what do you think? We've rounded up some Twitter reactions from across the web to find out what fans think of Episode VII's new director.

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger Celebrate 100 Episodes of Fringe Together

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger were together in Vancouver Saturday night to celebrate Fringe reaching the 100-episode milestone.

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger were together in Vancouver Saturday night to celebrate Fringe reaching the 100-episode milestone. The show won't get much beyond the big 100 number, since they're filming their fifth and final season now. Along with costars from his show, including Anna Torv, and producer JJ Abrams, Josh and Diane celebrated at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel.

Diane went to Canada to spend time with Josh after a month of serious jet-setting. She attended multiple events in Paris two weeks ago, then recharged in Cabo on a bikini- and shirtless-filled vacation with Josh. Diane then logged a few days in LA, attending the Miss Golden Globe party, before going north of the border to link up again with Josh.

Super 8: Beware the Hype Monster

I dare you to say that you're not curious about Super 8, J.J.

I dare you to say that you're not curious about Super 8, J.J. Abrams's 1979-set film about a group of kids who witness a spectacular train crash. The film has generated a lot of hype for what it doesn't show in trailers and promos, and it's the mystery that's the big draw. The previews do reveal that something escapes the crash and then stalks and terrorizes a small Midwestern town, which Abrams uses as a premise for a sentimental, nostalgia-filled portrait of a group of boys making a movie.

Joel Courtney leads the charge as Joe, a sensitive boy who has just lost his mother in an accident. He and his newly widowed father (Kyle Chandler) are figuring out how to get along with each other without the woman of the house while dealing with their grief. Joe's group of buds help distract him from his home life, as they fill their Summer vacation by making a movie for an amateur film festival. When they're filming a climactic scene near the train tracks, they watch — and film — an intense accident that has some pretty distressing repercussions. With Steven Spielberg on hand as producer, Super 8 often feels like one of his classic sci-fi standbys, but it's just not quite as memorable. However, it's still a fun, heart-pumping ride (the train crash is one of the best action sequences I've seen in a long time). To find out what else I thought, just read more

Not to be confused with other vintage video camera apps with similar names, Super 8 (free) comes courtesy of J.J.

Not to be confused with other vintage video camera apps with similar names, Super 8 (free) comes courtesy of J.J. Abrams's new film Super 8, and doesn't just turn your videos into retro styled masterpieces — it's also stocked with a bunch of hints about the upcoming movie.

Besides the standard filter, lens, and effects that you get in other retro camera apps, Super 8 also comes with movie editing capabilities so you can cut scenes together and add your own credits. The app can upload your movie to your movie folders, or you can export to your computer and email to friends. Supposedly, the movie tie-ins are subtle and won't take away from the app itself, which is great since I'll probably want to use Super 8 long after the movie has been released.
