Ryan Gosling plays the strong, silent type in this action-packed thriller about a stunt driver who moonlights driving getaway cars for thieves. He's thrown for a loop when he falls for his next-door neighbor (Carey Mulligan), and agrees to help her husband with a robbery that goes horribly awry. The film is engaging, impossibly stylish, and boasts a killer soundtrack, as well as top-notch performances from Gosling and Albert Brooks. DVD extras include featurettes.

In Time

This futuristic flick takes us to a world where time is currency, and once you hit 25, you need your minutes to stay alive. Unfortunately, the rich keep getting richer and the poor, like Will Salas (Justin Timberlake), are fighting for survival. Will becomes a target when he's gifted an eyebrow-raising number of minutes, and sets out on a moral crusade against the elite to help himself and others who are in his situation. Though the idea of the film is promising, the dialogue and convoluted plot don't live up to expectations. DVD extras include deleted scenes and extended scenes.

New comedy releases weren't enough to knock Puss in Boots out of the first spot at the box office — the animated comedy starring Antonio Banderas's voice as a sword-wielding cat dominated the weekend with $33 million. The Ben Stiller-led Tower Heist came in second with $25.1 million, while a fellow new comedy release, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, followed in third place with $13.1 million. The horror sequel Paranormal Activity 3 landed in the No. 4 spot with $8.5 million. Justin Timberlake's sci-fi drama In Time rounded out the top five with $7.7 million.

Amanda chose nude patent platforms and a cutout Lyn Devon dress, while Justin went casual in jeans and a leather jacket. Amanda has favored blue this week, also donning a stylish shorts suit in the same shade for the movie's London premiere on Halloween.

She and Justin have been traveling the globe to drum up international interest in their sci-fi film, which was released in the states on Oct. 28. We recently spoke with Justin and Amanda in LA during a press day for the project, and she told us she actually has fun doing love scenes in her movies, especially when her partner is a guy like Justin. Her comfort level with those will likely come in handy on her next project; Amanda is reportedly in talks to play Linda Lovelace in a biopic about the porn star.

It beat last weekend's box office winner, Paranormal Activity 3, which came in second with $18.5 million. Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried's futuristic thriller In Time, which was also new this weekend, came in third with $12 million. Footloose hung on to its fourth place spot with 5.4 million. Finally, new release The Rum Diary, starring Johnny Depp, just barely squeaked into the top five with a disappointing total of $5 million.
