What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

Looking for some fresh picks to add to your Netflix queue?

Looking for some fresh picks to add to your Netflix queue? I've got you covered. Just take a peek at these three new releases coming out on DVD today.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra

Many of you said that you weren't psyched to see the slick action update on the classic toy in theaters, but perhaps you'll feel differently now that it is available to watch at home. G.I. Joe has that loud, flashy, blockbuster appeal which can make for a perfect weekend rental — even if it's pretty much mindless entertainment. (Plus, I know how much you love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum!) Bonus: If you're a CGI geek, the special two-disc version includes a behind-the-scenes look at the special effects.

H.S. Valedictorian Paid to Promote I Love You, Beth Cooper

Nearly $2,000 is a lot of money for an 18-year-old headed to college.

Nearly $2,000 is a lot of money for an 18-year-old headed to college. The marketing executives for Twentieth Century Fox used this fact to their advantage when they created what they considered a viral concept for the film I Love You, Beth Cooper.

As BuzzSugar relays, the teen comedy opens with a valedictory graduation speech that includes a profession of love for a popular girl at school. The marketing company for the movie thought re-creating this moment in a real graduation ceremony would create a viral buzz online, and 18-year-old valedictorian Kenya Mejia of Alexander High School in Los Angeles was paid $1,800 to play actress for a day.

At the end of Kenya's speech, the future M.I.T. freshman said, "I cannot let this opportunity just pass by. I love you, Jake Minor!" The crowd cheered and Jake stood up cheering, too. The moment was a big one for someone who considers herself "the biggest introvert ever" and it earned her a nice chunk of pocket change, but the incident didn't create enough of a buzz to make the movie a success. It doesn't sound like Kenya will have much trouble in that regard, however. She's already taking classes in preparation for Fall semester.

Oh, silly teen comedies. Will you ever fail to provide excellent Caption It material? I think not.

So many good captions for this picture from I Love You, Beth Cooper. Time to vote on this week's finalists:

Welcome to the Caption It game on BuzzSugar!

Welcome to the Caption It game on BuzzSugar! Every Wednesday, I'll post a photo still from a TV show or movie here and challenge you to think of the most hilarious caption possible. I'll announce the finalists the following Tuesday, and you'll get to vote for the best caption!

Before we get to this week's image, let's wrap up last week's. Congrats to kismekate, who handily won the poll with this caption for the Nurse Jackie picture:

"Is that a scrunchie in your hair? Please don't tell me that's a scrunchie in your hair."

Now, on to a new challenge. I'm not sure I'll ever really want to see I Love You, Beth Cooper, but it does provide some funny pictures for captioning. I think this one is my favorite:

Leave your captions in the comment space below before 5 p.m. PDT on Monday, July 13 to be considered for a spot in the voting round. Have fun!

Watch, Pass, TiVo or Rent: I Love You, Beth Cooper

This Friday a new teen comedy hits theaters, this time starring Hayden Panettiere and Paul Rust.

This Friday a new teen comedy hits theaters, this time starring Hayden Panettiere and Paul Rust. In I Love You, Beth Cooper, Rust plays Denis, a dorky high school senior who confesses during his graduation speech that he loves his popular classmate, Beth Cooper (Panettiere). Surprisingly, Beth responds by deciding to "show Denis the best night of his life."

Do you think you'll see this one in the theater, wait to rent it, or just wait until it's on TV some random weekend in the future? Or maybe this is a never-see?

Got a Secret Crush? Tell Hayden, and the Rest of the World

If you've been harboring a crush on someone (or any secret thoughts or feelings), Hayden Panettiere wants you to know that the promotion for her upcoming high school romp I Love You, Beth Cooper is exactly the way to reveal it.

If you've been harboring a crush on someone (or any secret thoughts or feelings), Hayden Panettiere wants you to know that the promotion for her upcoming high school romp I Love You, Beth Cooper is exactly the way to reveal it. In the movie, the class valedictorian declares during his graduation speech that he's in love with — yup, you guessed it — Beth Cooper (played by Panettiere). As a promotional tactic, Twentieth Century Fox is "inviting people to upload their confessional videos to ILoveYouBethCooper.com for a special event entitled 'Beth Cooper Moments of Truth'" in which "participants will tape a special message they've always wanted to express — to a friend, parent, love interest . . . anyone. Selected videos will be featured in television spots for I Love You, Beth Cooper."

In times like this, I'm so grateful to have gone through high school before things like online video confession contests were commonplace because I would have probably taken part in this. And then I might have regretted it. At any rate, I do look forward to watching other peoples' confessions on TV! Movie Preview: I Love You, Beth Cooper

This movie's premise, based on a book by Larry Doyle, makes me laugh and cringe at the same time.

This movie's premise, based on a book by Larry Doyle, makes me laugh and cringe at the same time. On the one hand, there's a nerdy guy who builds up the nerve to declare his love for a super hot cheerleader while giving his valedictorian speech at high school graduation. On the other hand, there's the cheerleader (of course played by Hayden Panettiere who is totally not typecast at all) who, instead of being alarmed by the young man's public declaration, appears at his doorstep to show him the night of his life. Of course!

The movie's directed by Chris Columbus who knows a thing or two about the teen beat (see also: The Goonies and Adventures in Babysitting), so there is reason to believe this could be fun.

Hayden Panettiere Still Has to Answer to Mom

Hayden Panettiere kept warm with her puffy jacket and Uggs on the set of I Love You, Beth Cooper in Vancouver yesterday.

Hayden Panettiere kept warm with her puffy jacket and Uggs on the set of I Love You, Beth Cooper in Vancouver yesterday. Despite the chilly temperatures, it looks like things got a little heated between Hayden and her mom off camera. Hayden may be into acting like an adult (like in her fake PSA) and moving into her own place but even this mature 18-year-old still sometimes has to answer to mom.

Milo Gets an A+ From the Panettiere Family

Hayden Panettiere finally got a break from her cheerleading costume to sass it up in a red dress on the set of I Love You, Beth Cooper in Vancouver on Thursday.

Hayden Panettiere finally got a break from her cheerleading costume to sass it up in a red dress on the set of I Love You, Beth Cooper in Vancouver on Thursday. Now that Heroes is on hiatus until next Fall, Milo must have plenty of free time to go and visit his girl up in Canada. Seems like the whole Panettiere family is on board with their relationship these days, even Hayden's little brother, Jansen, who said, "Milo is cool, he's a pretty chill guy." Most of you think their relationship is creepy, but it sounds like she's got plenty of support from where it might matter most.
