What Is the Best Comedic Movie of 2010?

Laughter is the best medicine, but which film brought in the biggest dose this year?

Laughter is the best medicine, but which film brought in the biggest dose this year? 2010 was filled with the ever-popular dude comedy, but there was also a Sex and the City flick and Easy A to prove that guys aren't the only ones getting big laughs. There may not be a standout like last year's The Hangover, but what do you think is the best comedic movie of 2010?

What to Rent: New DVD Tuesday

We've got a handful of big films and recognizable faces in this week's new DVDs.

We've got a handful of big films and recognizable faces in this week's new DVDs. Along with these three releases, you can also check out Ramona and Beezus and Love Ranch.

Grown Ups

Adam Sandler rounds up some of his SNL cronies (Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, plus Kevin James) for the story of five childhood friends who reunite for a weekend of camaraderie (and immaturity) following the death of their grade school basketball coach. There's not much depth here, but as seen in old-school Sandler flicks, you have endless pratfalls, fart jokes, and the requisite Steve Buscemi cameo. Special DVD features include a behind-the-scenes featurette with the cast and gag reels.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Michael Cera leads a cast of hot young actors (Jason Schwartzman, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Evans just to name a few) in this adaptation of the awesomely geeky graphic novel series. Cera plays the title character, a bassist who's completely smitten with the mysterious, blue-haired Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). To win her heart, he must fight all seven of her evil exes in a video game-like series of battles. The film is fast-paced, clever, and definitely worth a second viewing at home. Special DVD features include cast commentaries, deleted scenes, and bloopers.

Eclipse Sucks the Box Office Competition Dry

Surprise, surprise — Eclipse continued its hot streak at the box office, taking home the holiday weekend crown and raking in $69 million (the film has made $161 million since its midnight opening on Wednesday).

Surprise, surprise — Eclipse continued its hot streak at the box office, taking home the holiday weekend crown and raking in $69 million (the film has made $161 million since its midnight opening on Wednesday). The Last Airbender had a decent debut weekend as well: despite harsh reviews, the action adventure took in a respectable $40.6 million.

Toy Story 3 was bumped to third but still made a healthy $30.1 million, while Grown Ups settled for fourth place with $18.5 million. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz stayed in the top five with Knight and Day's $10.2 million. Though it's been a slow Summer for movies, the holiday weekend proved to be better than most — Eclipse had the third best Fourth of July weekend opening in history. Never underestimate the power of Edward Cullen.

Box Office: Children's Toy Story 3 Tops Grown Ups

To infinity and beyond!

To infinity and beyond! Woody, Buzz, and the cute characters of Toy Story 3 won a second weekend at the box office with $59 million. That was enough to beat out both of the new big releases; Adam Sandler's Grown Ups came in second with $41 million, while Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz's Knight and Day took third with $20.5 million.

The Karate Kid and The A-Team rounded out the rest of the top five with $15.4 million and $6 million, respectively. Something tells me we'll see all of these standings change up very soon — Eclipse opens in theaters on Wednesday.

Hot Buzz Time Machine: Salma Hayek in Fools Rush In

While you can catch Salma Hayek in this week's release of Grown Ups as Adam Sandler's wife, seeing her on the big screen reminded me of my favorite movie of hers: Fools Rush In.

While you can catch Salma Hayek in this week's release of Grown Ups as Adam Sandler's wife, seeing her on the big screen reminded me of my favorite movie of hers: Fools Rush In. The late '90s romantic comedy paired her with Matthew Perry, who plays Alex (or, um, "All-ex") as the man who falls for Hayek's hot tamale character Isabel after a one-night stand. Swoon along with me as you watch the scene in which Alex impulsively proposes.
