Chances are that if you were one of the many readers who gobbled up last Summer's bestseller Gone Girl, you're now salivating for any kind of movie news — and we've got some today. David Fincher is in talks to direct Gone Girl, and we have to admit it makes sense; the Oscar-nominated director has helmed other dark, psychologically complex films like Fight Club and Zodiac, not to mention adaptations like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

While we're still dying to find out who will be cast in the movie (and we have a lot of ideas for who could play Nick and Amy), we're pretty excited about the idea of Fincher taking on Gone Girl. Bestselling novel Gone Girl seems like it's been on everyone's lips since its early Summer release, and it's set to be even more topical in the pop culture world — it's in the process of being adapted into a movie. Reese Witherspoon will produce the film with author Gillian Flynn writing the script, and though it's early, we're already thinking about who should star.

The main characters are Nick and Amy — a husband and wife who hit their fifth wedding anniversary when Amy disappears. Though Witherspoon is only attached to produce at this point, it's not unlikely she could also play Amy, especially since she matches the age and physical description (late 30s, petite blonde).
