What Is the Best Comedic Movie of 2010?

Laughter is the best medicine, but which film brought in the biggest dose this year?

Laughter is the best medicine, but which film brought in the biggest dose this year? 2010 was filled with the ever-popular dude comedy, but there was also a Sex and the City flick and Easy A to prove that guys aren't the only ones getting big laughs. There may not be a standout like last year's The Hangover, but what do you think is the best comedic movie of 2010?

What to Rent: New DVDs This Week

If you missed out on some of Summer's early blockbusters, don't fret: they're starting to show up on DVD.

If you missed out on some of Summer's early blockbusters, don't fret: they're starting to show up on DVD. This week gives us a healthy dose of action, comedy, and — wait for it — babies!

Iron Man 2

Robert Downey Jr. returns in this sequel to the 2008 smash hit superhero movie. Now, Tony Stark must face the consequences of revealing his alter ego while exploring his feelings for his former assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), taking on a new villain (Mickey Rourke), and finding a remedy for the poison that's seeping into his bloodstream. Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell represent the franchise newbies and Don Cheadle takes over as Stark's right-hand man Rhodey (formerly played by Terrence Howard). Though the film doesn't outshine the original, I still thought it was a fun sequel with a good sense of humor. DVD extras include deleted scenes, featurettes, and audio commentary.

Get Him to the Greek

Russell Brand reprises his Forgetting Sarah Marshall role as over-the-top rock star Aldous Snow. In this new adventure, record company intern Aaron (Jonah Hill) must get a washed-up Snow from London to LA for a career-reviving concert at the Greek theater. Tons of drug and sex-fueled high jinks ensue along the way as Aldous and Aaron strike up an unlikely but meaningful friendship. The film is worth seeing thanks to Brand and Hill's comedic chemistry and Diddy's scene-stealing role as Aaron's hotshot boss. DVD extras include deleted scenes, an alternate intro and ending, a gag reel, and more.

Jonah Hill: Love Him or Leave Him?

I'm dealing with a case of Jonah Hill overload lately.

I'm dealing with a case of Jonah Hill overload lately. Between Get Him to the Greek and Cyrus, which is opening in my local theater today, I'm seeing his mug on every movie poster I pass!

Here's the deal with Hill: I used to find his crass, coach potato-type characters kind of annoying (e.g., in Knocked Up and Superbad), but recently, I've grown to appreciate the actor's charm. The recent Greek helped me pinpoint why — when he's playing roles that are a bit more toned down, Hill just seems like a regular, sincere guy with a knack for deadpan humor. What's not to love?

Well, I'm sure you'll tell me. Vote below, and tell me if you're a Hill fan or if you don't find him that funny.

Box Office: Toy Story 3 Reaches For the Sky, Breaks Records

Woody and Buzz are back!

Woody and Buzz are back! It's a happy return for the Toy Story franchise, with Toy Story 3 raking in $109 million in its opening weekend — the highest grossing debut ever for Pixar. It booted The Karate Kid, which fell from the top spot to No. 2 with $29 million.

Bradley Cooper and the boys of The A-Team came in third $13.7 million, followed by Get Him to the Greek with $6.1 million for fourth and Shrek Forever After in fifth with $5.5 million.

The other new release of the weekend, Jonah Hex, bowed with $5 million for an eighth place spot – disappointing, but not that surprising given its scathing reviews (including my own).

Box Office: Karate Kid High Kicks the Competition

I bet Will Smith is mighty proud of his son this morning!

I bet Will Smith is mighty proud of his son this morning! His son Jaden's reboot of The Karate Kid ran away with the box office this weekend, earning $56 million (it's a surprising sales number at least to me, since I wasn't that jazzed about the movie). The family flick beat out the other big release, The A-Team, which came in second with $26 million.

Last weekend's champ Shrek Forever After slipped to No. 3 with $15.8 million. Get Him to the Greek and The Killers rounded out the rest of the top five with $10.1 million and $8.1 million, respectively.

Box Office: Shrek Stays on Top

You can't keep an ogre down!

You can't keep an ogre down! Shrek Forever After dominated once again and landed at the top of the box office for the third week in a row with $25.3 million.

The animated flick handily beat out this weekend's newcomers: Get Him to the Greek took the second spot with $17.4 million, while Killers came in third with $16.1 million. Last week's second runner up, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, fell to fourth place with $13.9 million, beating Sex and the City 2 once again, which just barely made it into the top five with $12.6 million.
