Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock star in this drama about a boy named Oskar (Thomas Horn) struggling to connect with the father he lost on 9/11. Armed with only a key that he found in his father's belongings, Oskar embarks on a quest to find the lock that it belongs to, uncovering a host of fascinating people on the way. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close doesn't hold up to the novel it's based on, but the Oscar nominee will pull on your heartstrings so make sure there are tissues available at the ready. The two-disc DVD/Blu-ray includes a making-of featurette, interview with the cast and crew about their experience ten years after 9/11, and "Finding Oskar," a featurette on Horn.

A Dangerous Method

Set in 20th century Zurich, A Dangerous Method shines a light on the unsound personal lives of psychoanalysts Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, and the patient (Keira Knightley) that comes between them. Despite a slightly meandering storyline, Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortensen give masterful performances as the psych pioneers. DVD extras include commentary by Director David Cronenberg, a making-of featurette, and a bonus seminar with Cronenberg.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Trailer: Get Your Tissues Ready

If The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the "feel bad movie of Christmas," then Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close may be the "feel sad movie" of the holiday.

If The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the "feel bad movie of Christmas," then Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close may be the "feel sad movie" of the holiday. Based on the best-selling novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, the film follows a bright young boy named Oskar (Thomas Horn) who sets out on a quest to find the lock that matches a key left behind by his father (Tom Hanks), who died in 9/11.

If the premise itself doesn't sound weepy enough for you, add in images of people of all different ages and races, images of Sandra Bullock crying, and a U2 song to set the mood. The trailer makes the film seem almost generic in the way it seems to be making a statement about embracing life and love, but I'm going to overlook that for the stellar cast and original story.

The film opens on Dec. 25, but give the trailer a look when you

Sandra Bullock clutched her iPad yesterday as she left her trailer on the Brooklyn set of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. She and her costar, Tom Hanks, have been filming in the outer borough for the last few days, and her now-walking son, Louis, even went out recently to check in on how things were going. Tom spent time in front of the cameras with a young costar, seeming to have some wholesome fun trying out a swing and drinking a Juicy Juice. Sandra and Tom have been busy passing glamorous days working on their adaptation of the Jonathan Safran Foer book, and he's got another project hitting big screens soon with Larry Crowne, in which he stars opposite Julia Roberts, out in July. Next up for Sandra will be a stint shooting Gravity with George Clooney, who's wrapping up a movie of his own, The Ides of March, in Michigan.

Sandra Stays in Character During Another Extremely Busy Day on Set

Sandra Bullock was back to work on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close today in Brooklyn.

Sandra Bullock was back to work on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close today in Brooklyn. She rocked a frumpy wig for the second day in a row after also being in the borough yesterday, when she cuddled up to her young son, Louis, during breaks from shooting. The duo have been getting settled into their new NYC home over the past several months except for a few jaunts back to the West Coast during awards season. The actress is balancing time with her little guy along with a few different movie projects, including the upcoming Gravity with George Clooney and the dance-themed Kiss and Tango. It was her philanthropy that earned her the biggest headlines this week, though, as she donated $1 million to the Red Cross in the wake of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

Sandra Bullock left her NYC apartment wearing workout clothes yesterday. She took a break from her regular gym routine, though, to hang with her son Louis over the weekend. Despite her dedication to fitness and hectic work schedule with Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Sandra's attention has apparently also been focused on the natural disaster in Japan. She reportedly donated $1 million to the Red Cross, joining other celebrities who have put their money towards relief. Rachel Zoe has been urging people to get involved through her daily newsletter, The Zoe Report, and Ryan Seacrest twittered information about helping the victims.
