Seth MacFarlane as the Oscar Host — Magical or Mediocre?

He sang, he danced, he spoke to William Shatner beaming in from the future, but was Oscar host Seth MacFarlane everything you hoped he would be?

He sang, he danced, he spoke to William Shatner beaming in from the future, but was Oscar host Seth MacFarlane everything you hoped he would be? From the beginning of this year's show, MacFarlane combined old Hollywood charm with some crude, rude, and pretty hilarious jokes. To me, it was the perfect combination, but I can understand if his sense of humor just didn't jibe with some viewers.

He and Kristin Chenoweth even closed the show with a quaint musical number, "Here's to the Losers." I appreciated that he seemed to have a genuine respect for the time-honored tradition of the Academy Awards, yet he managed to bring in some fun and modernity. What did you think of him?

New Girl's Game-Changing Episode — Were You Shocked?

Apologies in advance if you haven't had time to catch this week's epic episode of New Girl, but it's just so spectacular that we need to discuss.

Apologies in advance if you haven't had time to catch this week's epic episode of New Girl, but it's just so spectacular that we need to discuss. It begins innocently enough, with the boys all on the rebound and heading out on the town — minus Jess, who has a penchant for scaring girls away. Once the gang returns home, a game of True American forces Nick and Jess "behind the iron curtain" to make out. Nick refuses, saying he doesn't want to kiss her, "not like this."

Not like this? I figured that revelation would be the big plot development of the night, but I'm so happy it doesn't end there. Right before they retire for the evening, Nick grabs Jess and thus begins the most passionate makeout sequence in recent sitcom history. My jaw dropped. Even as a television aficionado, I did not see this coming — did you?

J.J. Abrams to Direct Star Wars 7 — Is He the Best Choice?

Though it hasn't been confirmed by Disney yet, word on the street is that J.J.

Though it hasn't been confirmed by Disney yet, word on the street is that J.J. Abrams is set to direct the latest Star Wars sequel, which would be the seventh in the franchise. News that the the series is being rebooted came when Lucasfilm was sold to Disney last year, and this is some of the first development news we've heard about the refreshed Stars Wars.

Though Abrams had commented last year that he wasn't interested in taking on the movie, I'm thrilled he's changed his mind. Abrams is sci-fi royalty, after bringing originality to the small screen with shows like Lost and Fringe and maintaining the magic of Star Trek when he directed its big-screen reboot. If Star Wars has to be resuscitated, then I'm relieved it'll be in Abrams's hands. But do you agree?

David Fincher May Direct Gone Girl — Love It or Leave It?

Chances are that if you were one of the many readers who gobbled up last Summer's bestseller Gone Girl, you're now salivating for any kind of movie news — and we've got some today.

Chances are that if you were one of the many readers who gobbled up last Summer's bestseller Gone Girl, you're now salivating for any kind of movie news — and we've got some today. David Fincher is in talks to direct Gone Girl, and we have to admit it makes sense; the Oscar-nominated director has helmed other dark, psychologically complex films like Fight Club and Zodiac, not to mention adaptations like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

While we're still dying to find out who will be cast in the movie (and we have a lot of ideas for who could play Nick and Amy), we're pretty excited about the idea of Fincher taking on Gone Girl. We want to hear from you, too, though. Do you think Fincher is a good choice to head up the big-screen version?

Will You Keep Watching The Carrie Diaries?

Carrie Bradshaw made her triumphant return to the small screen this week — albeit a far younger, teenage version — in The Carrie Diaries.

Carrie Bradshaw made her triumphant return to the small screen this week — albeit a far younger, teenage version — in The Carrie Diaries. The CW's prequel premiered this week, introducing us to AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie, the Bradshaw family, and Carrie's best friends. There's obviously a very different feel from Sex and the City; this is a teen drama, and instead of witty puns about dating, there's more angst. So if you tuned in, then I'm curious to find out what you thought; will you keep watching? And if you're a Sex and the City fan, I'd also like to know how you think the new series compares to the original.

The Killing Is Coming Back — Are You Happy?

Here's something you almost never see on TV: after being canceled by AMC after its second season, The Killing is being resurrected — by AMC.

Here's something you almost never see on TV: after being canceled by AMC after its second season, The Killing is being resurrected — by AMC. The series was killed (pun intended) six months ago, and though there were rumors that Netflix might try to pick up the show for its third season, AMC has figured out a way to bring The Killing back. This includes cutting the budget and only bringing back a few original cast members, like Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman (but not Billy Campbell and Michelle Forbes). AMC has announced that season three will pick up a year after the Larsen case has wrapped, and while Linden will no longer be a detective, she'll be pulled back into work to help Holder solve another case. I'm a little perplexed by this news — beloved shows are canceled all the time, but rarely get a second chance like this. But I'm wondering what you think; are you excited The Killing will be back, or have you already moved on?

Tina and Amy as Golden Globes Hostesses — Magical or Mediocre?

Move over, Billy Crystal, the world may have a new favorite host — or hosting duo, that is.

Move over, Billy Crystal, the world may have a new favorite host — or hosting duo, that is. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler emceed the Golden Globes as a pair last night, and they were pretty amazing. They handled celebrity zingers that were neither too tame nor too harsh, weren't afraid to put on goofy disguises, and did it all while looking absolutely stunning. My only complaint is that we didn't see enough of the hosts. How did you feel about the duo; did you enjoy the Poehler and Fey repartee, or were you less than impressed with the duo?

Justin Timberlake Releases New Song — Love It or Leave It?

Justin Timberlake has been sorely missed from the music scene for the last few years, choosing instead to focus on his acting career.

Justin Timberlake has been sorely missed from the music scene for the last few years, choosing instead to focus on his acting career. Well, the JT jam drought is over, because he's back with a new single "Suit & Tie," and it even features Jay-Z. The sound is slightly different than the tracks on Timberlake's last album: specifically, his voice sounds a little bit different, and it seems to change gears a couple times. Still, the feel is largely the same — it's a soulful, low-key R&B song you can groove to. Though Timberlake hasn't officially announced an entire album — he just teased that he was "ready" in a cryptic YouTube video — I'm hoping this is going to be the lead single off his next record. So I want to know what you think of it. Listen to it and weigh in with your opinion below.
