Dolly Parton's Imagination LibraryDolly Parton is mostly known for her big hair and her big hits, but the country music star also has a big heart! In 1996, she founded a non-profit organization in her home county in east Tennessee to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families. She also wanted to ensure that every child would have books, regardless of their family’s income.

Fifteen years later, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library — with the help and support of individual communities — is providing books to hundreds of thousands of children in hundreds of communities in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom. A brand-new, age appropriate book is mailed to every registered child each month until their 5th birthday! Registering for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is free and it helps tots get excited about the magic that books can create!

Toddler Wears Boob and Butt Pads For Dolly Parton Costume

Little girls have been made to look like sexy women in a variety of disturbing ways during beauty pageants, but just when we thought we'd seen it all, last night's Toddlers & Tiaras managed to surprise us with a new one: boob and butt pads.

Little girls have been made to look like sexy women in a variety of disturbing ways during beauty pageants, but just when we thought we'd seen it all, last night's Toddlers & Tiaras managed to surprise us with a new one: boob and butt pads.

The mother of a 4-year-old contestant dressed her little girl in the same Dolly Parton costume she wore when she did beauty pageants — fake boobies and butt "enhancements" included. The mom claims this is her daughter's favorite costume, despite the girl having no clue who Dolly is and being embarrassed by the faux chest when other girls ask her about it. And what's worse, no one seems to find the butt-shaking routine and fake rack on a 4-year-old appalling; the judges call it "cute." Watch the video clip now, and tell us, do you think this is harmless fun or crossing the line?

Words of Wisdom From Dolly Parton on Her 65th Birthday

It's pretty hard not to love Dolly.

It's pretty hard not to love Dolly. She dresses like a tramp and makes no apologies for it, acknowledging it's made her millions. From poverty to country music queen to beauty icon, she's beloved not just for her music, but also for being brassy, sassy, and self-deprecatingly honest. Who better to take advice from?

  • On being a woman: "It's a good thing I was born a girl, otherwise I'd be a drag queen."
  • On beauty: "You'd be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap!"
  • On bad press: "I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb . . . and I also know that I'm not blonde."

Bella Donna: Dolly Parton

There is no one who seems to have as much fun with beauty, or as few pretensions about it, as Dolly.

There is no one who seems to have as much fun with beauty, or as few pretensions about it, as Dolly. The 64-year-old doyenne of country music famously said: "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap." She's unapologetic about her style, whether she’s wearing gobs of glittery purple eyeliner with orange lipstick or a lacy, rhinestone-covered pink chiffon dress with a hip-high slit.

Dolly was raised poor in a dilapidated cabin in Locust Ridge, TN. She began writing songs when she was 7, then singing professionally to support her family when she was 13. As a teenager performing at the Grand Ole Opry, she met Johnny Cash, who told her to go where her heart took her and not care what others thought. She took that advice, and it paid off. To date, she’s had more top 10 albums than any other country singer, and more number-one hits than any other female artist.

Lotsa Lashes: 21 of the Most Extreme Looks

Back in 1919, famed makeup artist Max Factor invented false eyelashes to enhance the dramatic performances of leading Hollywood starlets. Since then, there's been a bevy of lashes from which to choose, with Shu Uemura leading the industry in the most fashion-forward styles. (Even I've gotten in on the action.) These "lotsa lashes" looks are always quite memorable. Who can forget Twiggy's batting lashes or Madonna's notorious $10,000 mink-and-diamond pair? See more now.

20 Groovy Looks From the Studio 54 Era

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Studio 54 was the place to be. During its heyday, the Manhattan discothèque was notorious for its jet-setting crowd of celebrities and socialites, and among other things, its reputation for drugs and illicit sexual liaisons among some of those in attendance. All hedonism aside, it was also an era where fluffy hair, lots of makeup, and sparkled accessories reigned supreme. Check out some of these trendy hair and makeup stylings, along with a few more shots of other famous disco-goers, now.
