If you need a break from the holiday movies on TV, why not check out one of these new DVDs?

If you need a break from the holiday movies on TV, why not check out one of these new DVDs? We've got two action-packed flicks left over from Summer, along with a cute family film. Spend your Saturday with one of them, or give them as a gift!

The Other Guys

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell star as an odd couple cop team who stumble upon a Ponzi scheme led by a shady Wall Street mogul (Steve Coogan). Eva Mendes also appears as Ferrell's knockout homemaker wife. Though the plot gets more muddled as the film goes on, the movie has several hilarious one-liners as Wahlberg and Ferrell play off each other well with zippy put-downs for laughs. Bonus features include two featurettes and deleted and extended scenes.

The A-Team

Army Special Forces members Hannibal (Liam Neeson), Face (Bradley Cooper), B.A. (Quentin "Rampage" Jackson), and Murdoch (Sharlto Copley) are back in this remake of the '80s TV series. This time, the boys get set up by a C.I.A. agent (Patrick Wilson) and must reclaim stolen equipment used for money forging. Jessica Biel costars as a former love interest and Defense Department Captain on the guys' trail. With an onslaught of stunts, explosives, and shootouts, the film is pure entertainment — even if it is ridiculous. Bonus features include an A-Team Theme Mash-Up Montage and audio commentary.

Inception continued its command over the box office for a third weekend, raking in $27.5 million in theaters.

Inception continued its command over the box office for a third weekend, raking in $27.5 million in theaters. That was enough to beat out the comic duo of Steve Carell and Paul Rudd whose new release Dinner for Schmucks bowed with a mediocre $23.3 million.

The Angelina Jolie thriller Salt came in third with $19.2 million, followed by Despicable Me with $15.5 million. Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore finished out the top five with $12.5 million. As for Zac Efron, unfortunately his good looks didn't translate into huge ticket sales; Charlie St. Cloud had to settle for sixth place with an underwhelming $12.1 million.

Despicable Me was knocked down to third with $24.1 million, leaving The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Toy Story 3 neck and neck with $9.6 million and $9 million, respectively. Newcomer Ramona and Beezus didn't quite make the cut, taking in a meager $8 million in its opening weekend.

Box Office: Inception Has a Dream Opening Weekend

Send your congrats to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Send your congrats to Leonardo DiCaprio. After much critical acclaim, his latest film, Inception, went on to earn $60.4 million at the box office, making it the biggest opening of the actor's career (yep, even over Titanic). Those sales numbers put it far ahead of the weekend's No. 2 movie, Despicable Me, which took in $32.7 million.

But where DiCaprio and Inception found success, Disney's new release The Sorcerer's Apprentice took a heavy blow with a disappointing $17.3 million during its debut. That lands the Nicolas Cage film in third place, followed by Eclipse, which fell to fourth with $13.5 million, and Toy Story 3, which earned $11.7 million for fifth.

Evil rules! Villain Gru and his army of minions took control of the box office over the weekend with Despicable Me. The animated flick landed in first place, raking in $60.1 million for its debut. That number exceeded studio expectations and was enough to unseat Robert Pattinson and the vampires of Eclipse, which fell to second place with $33.4 million.

Coming in third was the other big new release, Predators which earned a solid $25.3 million. Rounding out the rest of the top five was Toy Story 3 with $22 million and The Last Airbender with $17.1 million.
