Crazy, Stupid, Love

When Cal Weaver (Steve Carell)'s wife (Julianne Moore) blindsides him with the news that she has cheated on him and wants a divorce, the heartbroken and newly single guy turns to ladies' man Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). Jacob helps him re-enter the dating world by coaching him on how to successfully approach women, but gets more than he bargained for when he meets his match in Hannah (Emma Stone). Carell and Gosling have incredible onscreen chemistry, and it's refreshing to see Gosling in a comedic role. DVD extras include deleted scenes and featurettes with Gosling and Carell.

Water for Elephants

Based on the bestseller by Sara Gruen, this film chronicles the romance between Jacob Jankowski (Robert Pattinson), who works as the veterinarian for a traveling big-top circus, and the show's lead performer Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), who just so happens to be married to temperamental ring leader August (Christoph Waltz). Though the film isn't as comprehensive as the novel, it does a great job presenting the material it does use, while also capturing the visually stunning and colorful world of the circus. The DVD includes an interview with Pattinson, as well as a featurette on adapting the novel for the big screen.

See 15 Movie Stills of Ryan Gosling Looking Hot in Crazy, Stupid, Love

Crazy, Stupid, Love looks great for a host of reasons, but every time I see the trailer, I get distracted from the heartfelt theme of Steve Carell coping with divorce, all because of his costar Ryan Gosling. Gosling appears in a variety of well-cut suits and other handsomeness-enhancing outfits — and memorably, a couple times with no shirt on at all. I am well aware that I'm not alone in my Gosling crush, so consider this my present to you guys: 15 movie stills of Ryan Gosling looking so smoking hot your computer might explode.

Crazy, Stupid, Love: Touching, Smart, Lovely

In a sea of Hollywood movies depicting relationships through clichés, Crazy, Stupid, Love actually gets it right.

In a sea of Hollywood movies depicting relationships through clichés, Crazy, Stupid, Love actually gets it right. Steve Carell stars as Cal, a man who's been abruptly dumped by his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore). Despondent and friendless, Cal takes to hanging out in a local bar, where slick ladies' man Jacob (Ryan Gosling) takes pity on him. Under Jacob's tutelage, Cal dresses better and learns to be assertive, as he unhappily figures out his life without Emily in it. A couple of subplots are woven throughout as well: Jacob, not used to being rejected, falls for the only girl who seems to be able to resist his charms, a law student named Hannah (Emma Stone). Meanwhile, Cal and Emily's teenage son Robbie is in the throes of unrequited love for his babysitter, Jessica (Analeigh Tipton) — who's harboring a crush on Cal.

There's certainly a lot going on, but Crazy, Stupid, Love manages to illustrate the value of each emotional connection in the movie without veering too far off course. To find out why I loved the film, just read more

Ryan Gosling may play the cocky Jacob in Friday's Crazy, Stupid, Love, but he admitted at the recent NYC junket that, in real life, he's far from the ultra-confident type. He spoke about the prep he did to get his abs into amazing shape for the role and revealed some awkward moments from the movie. Ryan also commented on rumors that his The Ides of March director George Clooney gave him a nickname while on set — turns out George did have a certain gesture for Ryan that was based on a Rubik's Cube. Video: Steve Carell Has a Big Head (Literally) About Crazy, Stupid, Love

Steve Carell's got a new movie hitting theaters this week in Crazy, Stupid, Love, and apparently the actor wanted the world to know that he — and not Ryan Gosling — is the true star of the film.

Steve Carell's got a new movie hitting theaters this week in Crazy, Stupid, Love, and apparently the actor wanted the world to know that he — and not Ryan Gosling — is the true star of the film. In the latest from the folks at Funny or Die, we bear witness to a meeting between Carell and execs regarding the poster art for the film. Most notably, the fact that Carell won't settle for anything less than having the biggest head on the one-sheet. It's a pretty hilarious skit, mostly when you realize that most of Carell's movies really do largely feature his noggin on the poster art. Watch!
