The Help

In this adaptation of the best-selling novel, Emma Stone leads up the cast as Skeeter, an ambitious young journalist in 1960s Mississippi. When she starts paying attention to what the maids in her community endure, she finds a story, and with their help, publishes an explosive book. The range of great performances from the ensemble, especially Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, and Viola Davis, make this a moving must-see. The DVD extras include deleted scenes and a Mary J. Blige music video for "The Living Proof."

The Hangover Part II

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis reunite in this sequel to the raucous 2009 hit, but this time they're in Thailand for Stu's wedding. When they black out after a night of drinking, they wake up to find they've lost the bride's little brother and embark on a wild ride through Bangkok. Though this follow-up is raunchier and darker than the original, it's not necessarily funnier (and the formula is exactly the same). The extras on the DVD include a gag reel, a laugh track, and several featurettes.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes breathed new life into the franchise as the film drew in $54 million in its opening weekend and taking first place at the box office. The Smurfs took a distant second with $21 million, followed by Cowboys & Aliens, which earned $15.7 million in its sophomore weekend. The Change-Up saw a disappointing debut of $13.5 million, which isn't a particularly strong showing compared to other comedies that bowed this Summer. Captain America: The First Avenger added $13 million to its box office run, which put it in fifth.

In the box office showdown between Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs this weekend, neither film emerged a definite winner. The Men of Cowboys & Aliens: Do, Dump, or Marry?

The much-anticipated premiere of Cowboys & Aliens happens tonight.

The much-anticipated premiere of Cowboys & Aliens happens tonight. All the hype has got us thinking about the two male leads: Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. These celebrated and equally steamy actors have played a plethora of studs over the years. They both look great in this new film, but we're wondering: if you could get with any character they've played over the years, who would it be?

Cowboys & Aliens: How the West Was Meh

The opening sequence of Cowboys & Aliens sets up what could be an awesome action adventure: a man (Daniel Craig) wakes up in the New Mexico desert with no memory of how he got there.

The opening sequence of Cowboys & Aliens sets up what could be an awesome action adventure: a man (Daniel Craig) wakes up in the New Mexico desert with no memory of how he got there. The only memento of his journey is a chunky piece of metal strapped to his wrist. In no time at all, we learn that this cowboy is pretty badass, and we're ready to follow him on his quest for identity. The one downside to having a gripping opening scene is that it sets the bar high for the rest of the film — and Cowboys & Aliens goes downhill from there.

You already know what this movie is about, and it doesn't offer much more than what is promised in the title. Director Jon Favreau has plenty of fun putting together slick action scenes as we watch sci-fi and Western blend into one, but you can only watch cowboys shoot guns at UFOs for so long before you start to grow a bit weary.
