Jay-Z and Coldplay rang in 2013 together with a joint New Year's Eve concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Monday night. Coldplay played the first set while Jay-Z took the stage shortly before midnight. Jay-Z and Chris Martin joined up for the countdown and to sing "Auld Lang Syne." Once Chris was finished belting out the New Year's staple, he flowed into Jay-Z's "Run This Town," filling in for Rihanna's chorus. While Jay-Z and Chris were rocking, Chris's wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and their children, Apple and Moses, danced on stage. They weren't the only celebrities in the audience since Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted chatting with Jay-Z backstage and Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend, Matt Rutler, were also on hand. Once the concert was over, Chris and Jay-Z headed to the 40/40 Club for an afterparty without Gwyneth, who headed home with Apple and Moses.
Jay-Z, Rihanna, Chris Martin, and Coldplay brought the house down at the Paralympics closing ceremony last night in London. The group played at the Games' 80,000-seat stadium as part of a three-hour event that officially ended nearly two weeks of competition for disabled athletes. Coldplay started the fun with a long set, and toward the end of their performance welcomed Rihanna for a version of "Princess of China." Jay popped up, too, to sing "Run This Town" with both Rihanna and Chris before they segued into "Paradise."
Jay, Rihanna, and Chris celebrated the successful set with an afterparty at The Arts Club. It was a special evening for Jay, who just wrapped up a yacht vacation with Beyoncé Knowles and their daughter, Blue. Chris's spouse, Gwyneth Paltrow, was busy, too. She was off in LA for the Stand Up to Cancer telethon, then ventured to Canada for the TIFF premiere of her new movie, Thanks For Sharing.

The Brit Awards at London's O2 Arena were a star-studded affair with many of music's finest stepping out for the event today. Rihanna, who celebrated her 24th birthday yesterday, switched out of her gold Givenchy gown to take the stage in a white outfit while Adele showed off her vocal talents for the first time in the UK since undergoing throat surgery last year. She wore a black Burberry dress for the show and accepted her British female solo artist honor with a smile. Chris Martin and his band Coldplay took home the British group award and performed during the event. Also on hand for the Brit Awards were Florence & the Machine, X Factor alums One Direction, Formula One driver Jenson Button, Kylie Minogue, Bruno Mars, and British singer Ed Sheeran, who picked up the statue for breakthrough act. Rihanna and Coldplay totally knocked their Grammy performance out of the park when it came on about one third of the way through the big show this evening in LA. Rihanna kicked things off with a solo rendition of "We Found Love," which she accompanied with her signature super sexy dance moves. She then teamed up with Coldplay for a medley of their songs, starting with "Princess of China" which went right into their hit "Paradise." It's already been a performance-packed Grammys, but Rihanna and Chris Martin's collaboration was certainly a highlight. Rih showed off some skin with her onstage outfit, but she also turned heads with her red carpet look earlier in the evening. Rihanna wore a custom-made Armani gown, which left little to the imagination.

Coldplay has a fifth album coming out, and though there's no release date yet, you can get your fix with a brand-new song right here. Called "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," the track has that epic, swooning feel, complete with heartfelt lyrics. The band is headlining the German music festival Nürnberg's Rock Im Park this weekend, so the band will get the opportunity to showcase the track live right away. A festival setting sounds like the perfect way to experience this song — just imagine it closing out a concert while the crowd sways in unison. Listen to the single now and let me know what you think.
