Download of the Day: A Charlie Brown Christmas

There's nothing that gets me in the holiday spirit quite like A Charlie Brown Christmas, and now I can get my fix on the go with the Charlie Brown Christmas App for iOS and Android tablets.

There's nothing that gets me in the holiday spirit quite like A Charlie Brown Christmas, and now I can get my fix on the go with the Charlie Brown Christmas App for iOS and Android tablets. More than just a storybook, this app lets you interact with the characters and their surroundings (you can actually play the piano right along with Schroeder!), decorate your own Christmas tree, participate in the Peanuts Lights and Display Contest, and even have the story narrated to you by Peter Robbins, the original voice of Charlie Brown.

Charlie Brown Christmas App

Available from the iTunes App Store, Android Marketplace, and the Amazon App Store for $7, it's a must have for the holiday season!

Deck the Haus: Urban Outfitters Charlie Brown Tree

I've had a love/hate relationship with Charlie Brown ever since I was a kid.

I've had a love/hate relationship with Charlie Brown ever since I was a kid. In fact, if truth be told, I probably relate more to Lucy and her football than Chuck and his constant anxieties. Still, I can't resist this Charlie Brown Christmas tree $24. An exact replica of the tree from the cartoon, made of bendable wire branches and plastic needles with a criss-cross wooden base, the set comes with one red Christmas ball ornament, because that's how Chuck would want it. Granted it's a bit of a high price to pay for some plastic and wood bits, but the true Charlie Brown fan will love you for this gift.

TV Dinners: A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

As a child, one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving — besides the turkey, pie, and Macy's parade — was the annual viewing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

As a child, one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving — besides the turkey, pie, and Macy's parade — was the annual viewing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. I love the way that Snoopy and the gang had their own Thanksgiving without adults. Even though Peppermint Patty freaks out over the lack of turkey and pumpkin pie, I always thought it looked like a lot of fun. What child wouldn't want a a smorgasbord of treats — two pieces of buttered toast, pretzel sticks, popcorn, and jelly beans — while sitting around ping-pong table? Looking back on it now, I see part of the message is that it doesn't matter what you're eating, as long as it was made with love. So despite how your feast turns out — be it fantastic or forgettable — remember to take a deep breath and enjoy the day.

Cheers To Peanuts

On today's date in 1965, the characters of the popular cartoon comic strip, Peanuts, were on the cover of Time magazine.

On today's date in 1965, the characters of the popular cartoon comic strip, Peanuts, were on the cover of Time magazine. Peanuts was arguably the most popular of comic strips, and created solely by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. The year before the Peanuts gang graced the cover of the magazine, Schulz created one of television's most beloved specials, A Charlie Brown Christmas. In the Peanuts comic strip, when Charlie Brown's sister Sally was born, the characters celebrated by enjoying a round of chocolate cigars. Revisit Charlie, Peppermint Patti, and friends by enjoying a box of delicious chocolate cigars today. Oh and if anybody remembers Charlie Brown's favorite food, please tell me what it is, I've been going crazy trying to figure it out...

Also, in a semi-related note: Peanuts, the edible legume, are the most common food allergy in children and are found in many shapes and forms as a groundnut, eaten plain or roasted, in salted and unsalted varieties, as peanut butter and peanut oil.

Movie Night: Holiday Films For Kids and Adults

So many movies, so little time.

So many movies, so little time. Thankfully, BuzzSugar is here to help you sort through them all! Every Thursday, we'll choose a theme for a weekend Movie Night and feature three must-see movies in keeping with the topic.

This week's Movie Night: family holiday films that won't drive you nuts. If you often find yourself watching holiday movies with the youngsters in your family, it kind of kills the mood when you audibly groan and yawn. Here are three movies that will entertain the tots and keep you from nodding off in the corner like a granny.

Elf
Elf tells the story of Buddy (Will Ferrell), who was swept away to the North Pole as a boy and raised by elves. Despite the obvious physical differences between he and his elfin peers, Buddy considers himself one of them, until his foster dad (Bob Newhart) reveals the truth. Then it's off to Manhattan, where Buddy hopes to reconnect with his real father (James Caan). Dry-witted Zooey Deschanel stars as Buddy's love interest, who works as an elf at a department store. There is plenty of visual comedy that will appeal to the little ones, as well grown-up jokes to keep everyone in the room chuckling.
