The Price of Anja Rubik's Jeweled Heels

Anja Rubik donned a playful, feather-covered Pucci minidress and hot pink bejeweled heels for the amfAR Gala in Cannes yesterday.

Anja Rubik donned a playful, feather-covered Pucci minidress and hot pink bejeweled heels for the amfAR Gala in Cannes yesterday. While the outfit looks like an innocent — and very fun — party outfit, it's actually a seriously expensive endeavor: Chopard and Guiseppe Zanotti partnered to create Anja's shoes, which were covered with $180,000 worth of jewels. The heels, boasting diamonds, pink sapphires, rubies, and russellites, were auctioned off for $200,000 at the Gala. While we're not sure what Anja wore after her shoes were sold to the highest bidder, we're optimistic the leggy model still looked party-ready.

Rosario vs. Naomi: Who Has Sexier Legs?

Rosario Dawson gave modeling a try with a trip down the catwalk for Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief fundraiser show in Cannes.

Rosario Dawson gave modeling a try with a trip down the catwalk for Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief fundraiser show in Cannes. We were wildly impressed with her legs, which were rivaled only by Naomi Campbell's endless legs. Both wore dresses with thigh-high slits, which is a recurring theme in evening gowns these days. In your opinion, who has sexier legs, Rosario or Naomi?

Love It or Hate It: The Sheer Dress Trend at Cannes Film Fest

After seeing a crop of sheer dresses on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, we wonder: is less more?

After seeing a crop of sheer dresses on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, we wonder: is less more? First Rachel McAdams wore a red and nude Marchesa dress, then Penelope Cruz chose a lavender Marchesa gown for her Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiere, and model Candice Boucher pushed the sheer envelope in this black beaded dress that leaves little to the imagination. What do you think of this trend? Is it super sexy or terribly overexposed?

Karl Lagerfeld Says Dresses at amfAR's AIDS Gala Are Better Than "Fake" Fashion at Oscars

Actor Alan Cumming hosted amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS 2010 benefit gala at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes, France last night.

Actor Alan Cumming hosted amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS 2010 benefit gala at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes, France last night. Actresses, movie moguls, philanthropists, fashion designers, and supermodels showed up (and dressed up) for a great cause—with Carine Roitfeld, Tom Ford, Georgina Chapman, Constance Jablonksi, Peter Dundas, Karl Lagerfeld, Naomi Campbell, and Dree Hemingway (above in Valentino Haute Couture) representing the best dressed fashion contingent.

Mary J. Blige and Patti Smith performed during the event, and the year's auction raised 7.5 million euros in three hours. Karl Lagerfeld, in white jeans, noted it was a better-dressed crowd than what he's seen at the Oscars. “The fashion is fantastic tonight,” he said. “At the Oscars, it’s fake. People wear what they think they should wear. Here, people wear what they like, not because they are obliged.” Click through our favorite looks from the evening in the gallery below.

Quote Of The Day: Red Carpet Fashion And Cannes

Over the past few years in the United States, the pressure to look picture perfect during awards season has largely resulted in women wearing gorgeous gowns that quickly fade from memory for their lack of creativity.
Over the past few years in the United States, the pressure to look picture perfect during awards season has largely resulted in women wearing gorgeous gowns that quickly fade from memory for their lack of creativity. The industry built up around event dressing, with stylists and publicists clothing actresses and celebrities in beautiful but boring ensembles, has also reduced the personal connection many stars once had with fashion designers. And the weight of the “one-night-only” Oscars has tipped the sartorial scales toward the safe.

Not so at Cannes.
