The drama of Mad Men has leaped from the screen to a real-life dilemma. After we heard last week that the show may not return until 2012, AMC has released a statement that confirms the push, saying, "While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, Mad Men will be back for a fifth season in early 2012." Negotiations continue between AMC and series creator Matthew Weiner, who has been asked to cut two minutes off of the running time and eliminate two series regulars. Weiner contends that both changes would make Mad Men "a different show," and I have to agree. However, if the cast does get trimmed as a necessity, then I think we should take a look at each regular character and vote on which member of the ensemble the show could stand to lose.

You never know what to expect from the hookups and breakups on Glee. It seems like every week a new couple is getting together or calling it quits, and the pairings are sometimes unexpected. While the show takes a breather this week, I think it's the perfect opportunity to assess some of the series' romantic duos. I've already shed my tears over the fact that the next Jason Bourne film, The Bourne Legacy, won't star Matt Damon. But plans for the next movie continue, and though there are no plans to recast someone as Bourne (really, no one can replace Damon), a lot of names are now rumored to play the lead in Legacy. Plenty of hot actors are on the list, and some aren't surprising, while some are definitely more unexpected choices. Scorching sexual tension is a TV show mainstay, and our favorite series currently have plenty of pairs who are keeping it platonic, even though they just might belong together. Now that Henry Cavill has been cast as the new Superman, the next question is obvious: Who will play his Lois Lane? The iconic love interest is a hot role to fill, and according to rumors, several young actresses are being considered. The love on The Vampire Diaries is sort of all over the place right now. Central couple Elena and Stefan are currently off due to Katherine's manipulations, and Damon is in love with Elena but not ready to pursue her. But all romantic hope is not lost; the writers seem to be planting seeds for new couples to emerge. Check out a few pairings I've sensed some heat between, and tell me if you'd like to see them get together!

Regardless of the rollercoaster of cancellations and pickups for new TV series, there's still a stable of mature TV shows that have been running for a long time (over four seasons, to be precise). It's time for you to weigh on which shows are still thriving, and which shows should be put out of their misery.

Glee returns for its second season on Sept. 21, and before we get to see the gleeks performing with Britney Spears and the other fun stuff in store, Fox has just released new character pics! I love seeing the old familiar faces and think it's the perfect opportunity to poll you on each of Glee's characters. Time to show your loyalty: are you Team Finn, Team Rachel, Team Schue? Weigh in!
