Buzz Battle: Who Will Be the Next American Idol?

We're just hours away from meeting our next American Idol, and whether it will be Lauren Alaina or Scotty McCreery is anybody's guess.

We're just hours away from meeting our next American Idol, and whether it will be Lauren Alaina or Scotty McCreery is anybody's guess. Both have been favorites all season long, though Lauren has spent a little more time in the bottom three than Scotty has. The judges all but named Lauren the victor last night, though ultimately, it's America's votes that count. Fans of the show are forced to pick a side, and we've been picking your brains about your own predictions, based on the season and last night's final showdown. Unsurprisingly, readers have split the love between the two contestants, so check out the arguments for each side:

  • Point: "Scotty, the last song was simply amazing." — Anonymous
  • Counterpoint: "I am thinking Hayley's voters might turn into a few Lauren votes and we can finally have another female winner!" — care0531
  • Point: "Lauren had a better night, but I have a feeling Scotty will win." — ktc71
  • Counterpoint: "I love both of them but I feel that Lauren has got it!" — OoOThisIsMeOoO
  • Point: "I have to go with Scotty all the way. I wanted it to be Casey or James. But, since they voted out James, I genuinely hope it is Scotty." — Ramona Kelley Bishop
  • Counterpoint: "Lauren will win. Plus, they want a female winner this year." —TRH36

Buzz Battle: Who Should Win American Idol?

The time has come once again to crown a winner of American Idol.

The time has come once again to crown a winner of American Idol. What started off as a very promising season sadly lost steam along the way — but I still think we've got a pair of super-promising contestants on our hands. Tonight Lee and Crystal will show off their very different musical stylings for the last time, but who is more deserving of the crown? All season long, Buzz editor B has backed Crystal while Editor S is firmly on Team Lee. Check out their arguments for their respective candidates, and chime in with your own ideas about who should go home a winner!

  • Editor S: Lee is far and away this season's most improved. He's exhibited real growth and has learned how to be a better performer by listening to the judges and gaining stage experience. I like nothing better than seeing someone green — but with raw talent — slowly mold himself into an Idol. To me, that's what the show is all about.
  • Editor B: Mamasox has been a powerhouse all season long. I was blown away by her way back during the auditions round, thanks to her soulful voice and complete comfort on stage. She hasn't changed at all throughout the season. I agree that Lee has improved more, but Crystal has been a performer from the start — why mess with a good thing? When you watch her, it's like you're already seeing an accomplished musician.

Buzz Battle: Should Vampire Diaries's Elena and Damon Date?

It's been awhile since we've had a good Buzz Battle, but there just hasn't been anything particularly squabble worthy for the Buzz editors to dissect.

It's been awhile since we've had a good Buzz Battle, but there just hasn't been anything particularly squabble worthy for the Buzz editors to dissect. That is, until now. Over the weekend we stumbled up on this photo of Elena and Damon of The Vampire Diaries looking awfully cozy in an upcoming episode. The sexual tension has been mounting for weeks now, but will the writers go for broke and finally solidify this brotherly love triangle? Let's go over the facts. Editor B will argue the pro side, Editor S the con. And away, we go!

  • Editor B: Elena and Stefan make a cute pair, but Elena and Damon really sizzle. Damon gets under her skin and brings out her firecracker side. Plus, Damon can keep her on her toes — and that's what makes for great television. We may always root for Elena to end up with the nice guy, but she and Damon have way hotter chemistry, which will give the show a big boost.
  • Editor S Counterpoint: It's way too soon! The show is only in its first season, so it would be TV shark-jumping suicide if the writers let Damon and Elena get together now. Maybe in two, three seasons from now they can consummate that tension, but for now, they need to keep building up this foundation.

Buzz Battle, Sex and the City 2 Edition: Big vs. Aidan

For this edition of Buzz Battle, the fight over who Carrie Bradshaw belongs with isn't a heated debate between editors; it's among BuzzSugar readers.

For this edition of Buzz Battle, the fight over who Carrie Bradshaw belongs with isn't a heated debate between editors; it's among BuzzSugar readers. The results on this definitive Aidan vs. Big poll are split at almost exactly 50/50, and the division is clear in the comments. Check out the arguments for Mr. Big and those in favor of Aidan for Carrie's love in Sex and the City 2 and beyond!

  • User Khameel: "I love Aidan! Some people say that he's boring or too vanilla, but he's so sweet and kind and really loved her. He even forgave her after she cheated with Big! I'm not saying Big doesn't love her, but he could never commit to her (but had no problem marrying Natasha). Aidan had one of the sweetest proposals I've ever seen, and he even changed that tacky pear shaped ring into one that was more suitable for her. I could go on for days about why I love Aidan!"
  • User redchick152's counterpoint: "Definitely Big. It's always been Big. Carrie and Aidan just didn't have the crazy, passionate, irrational chemistry that she and Big have together."

Buzz Battle: What Is the Scariest Movie Ever?

We're almost at the end of our long battle to determine the Scariest Movie of All Time.

We're almost at the end of our long battle to determine the Scariest Movie of All Time. The two movies left standing are definitely among the classics of the horror genre: The Exorcist and The Shining. We've heard some pretty heavy arguments for each side, (particularly from my girl Fab, a horror aficionado who is on team Shining all the way) — and even the Buzz editors stand as a team divided. In today's Buzz battle, we'll give you our arguments on why each movie deserves the ultimate title.

Editor S will support The Shining while Editor B will make a case for The Exorcist. Don't forget to make your own pick after reading our arguments!

  • Editor S: As someone's who's long been a chicken about watching scary movies, I tend to get freaked out by a horror flick, and then eventually get over it. I have never gotten over The Shining. It's scary because it's more disturbing than anything; it's not a supernatural story like The Exorcist that you can choose not to believe in; cabin fever could realistically happen to someone — someone you know.
  • Editor B rebuttal: I will admit that I do think The Shining is terrifying, but it didn't haunt me the way The Exorcist does. That face? That voice? The imagery of a girl crabwalking backwards down the stairs is imprinted in my brain! You can't unsee that kinda stuff, though I wish I could. And cabin fever may be real, but The Exorcist left me believing that maybe possession is real too.

Buzz Battle: Are Spoilers Ruining New Moon?

With exactly one month to go until the much-anticipated (to say the very least) premiere of New Moon, the folks at Summit are still getting the Twi-hards' tongues wagging with a new clip aired last night and this latest batch of stills from the movie.

With exactly one month to go until the much-anticipated (to say the very least) premiere of New Moon, the folks at Summit are still getting the Twi-hards' tongues wagging with a new clip aired last night and this latest batch of stills from the movie. But has too much of the movie been revealed — both for those who never read the book and for those who did but still want to be surprised by the visual interpretation?

In today's Buzz Battle, editors S and B square off about whether or not the spoilers are already ruining the yet-to-be released movie.

  • Editor B: For my opening remarks, I will admit that I'm enjoying all the new footage. I'm always on the hunt for a hot new RPattz photo for my desktop background, and as someone who didn't know much about the Twilight saga this time last year, I've become a full-fledged fan. But like any TV or movie spoilers, the fun of the anticipation is never worth it if expectations are too high. I don't want to walk out of the theater saying, "Man, that was a boring and anticlimactic 2 hours, but the 12 months of hype leading up to it sure was exciting."

Buzz Battle: Kristin Cavallari as the New Face of The Hills

The editors here at BuzzSugar stand united in our undying love for all things pop culture, but we don't always see eye-to-eye on every topic.

The editors here at BuzzSugar stand united in our undying love for all things pop culture, but we don't always see eye-to-eye on every topic. After checking out the premiere of The Hills, this morning's water cooler discussion quickly evolved into a debate about whether or not the show can survive with Kristin in Lauren's place.

In corner number one we've got editor B, who is ready to cancel her season pass to the show after last night's episode. In corner number two, we've got editor S, who couldn't be more thrilled to welcome Kristin to the show. We've both compiled our strongest arguments, so check out both sides of the story and weigh in for yourself when you read more
