We already gave you the initial info on the new pilots coming this Fall to Fox and NBC, but now we bring you the list from The CW. And it's good news! Five new hour-long series have been picked up by the network for the Fall TV season.

  • The Carrie Diaries: This highly anticipated series stars AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw in 1984, during her pre-Sex and the City high school days.
  • First Cut: As if being a new doctor wasn't tough enough, a recent med school graduate (Mamie Gummer) realizes that old crushes and enemies will be working alongside her at her first job.
  • Cult: After his brother mysteriously disappears, investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (Matt Davis) uncovers the underworld of a popular TV show and all its crazy fans.
  • Arrow: After being shipwrecked on a deserted island, a billionaire makes his way back home and does his best to integrate himself back into normal life and right his past wrongs. At the same time, he takes on a new persona called Arrow (the show is based on the comic-book series) and fights crime.
  • Beauty & the Beast: Kristin Kreuk stars as homicide detective Catherine Chandler, a strong-willed cop who witnessed her mother's murder when she was just a teenager. She would have been murdered too, but with the help of an outside force she could never explain, she managed to escape. She soon learns that her savior is a man who turns into a beast at night.

Audiences were looking for action in the theater this weekend, as the Mark Wahlberg-led new release Contraband won first place at the box office with $24.1 million. Following behind was the re-release of Beauty and the Beast in 3D, which earned $18.5 million, and was also a brand new entrant into theaters. In third place was the sequel Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, which added $11.5 million to its haul, while Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah's Joyful Noise was hot on its heels with $11.3 million. Rounding out the top five was Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows with $8.4 million.

Bring on the Popcorn: 10 Kiddie Flicks For 2012 (and One Just For Moms)

Sit back and get comfortable because mama may be spending a lot of time in the movie theater this year.

Sit back and get comfortable because mama may be spending a lot of time in the movie theater this year. While 2011 may have been the year of the 3D kiddie flick, 2012 shows no sign of putting the brakes on the trend! With the re-release of two Disney classics in three-dimensional form, the adaptation of a favorite Dr. Seuss book, and the introduction of a few new heroes, there will be plenty to keep tots entertained in the theater this year. Check out the kiddie flicks we're anticipating the most — and one that will specifically be for the mamas out there!

Should Wall-E Be Nominated for Best Picture?

Wall-E has been showered with praise from critics and audiences alike.

Wall-E has been showered with praise from critics and audiences alike. These kinds of accolades haven't really been heard since, say, There Will Be Blood, or I dunno, Juno — both of which were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars this year.

Now there's a a campaign afoot to get Wall-E out of the Best Animated Film category and into competition with the big guns. Vulture argues that Wall-E should be the second animated film (so far we've only seen Disney's Beauty and the Beast) to be included in this category because it's exactly the kind of movie that the Academy wants to consider for Best Picture: it's both well-reviewed and beloved by audiences.

Hollywood Elsewhere argues against this, stating that "the electric segregation fence must be respected and fortified" and that animation can't really hold a candle to the "unfettered dignity that comes from simply aiming a camera at real people and real locations and making it all sing."

Where do you stand? Do you think Wall-E deserves to be in the Best Picture category in February, or should everyone be happy with a Best Animation nod?

Disney Speaks Douche?

It was no secret that Gaston was badly hurtin' for Belle's affection in Beauty and the Beast, but our gal had enough douche-sense to repeatedly turn him down.

It was no secret that Gaston was badly hurtin' for Belle's affection in Beauty and the Beast, but our gal had enough douche-sense to repeatedly turn him down. So his posse of pals got together to massage his ego at the local pub. Give their little ditty a listen— all praise points to douche. (My fave piece of "praise" comes at 2:10.) Who knew that Disney had its finger on the pulse of the douchepidemic? Kudos! The children deserve to be warned.

What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays.

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to the below titles, family films The Astronaut Farmer and The Last Mimzy also come out on DVD today. As much as I adore Virginia Madsen and Rainn Wilson, however, I won't be talking about either of those movies in this post.

"Extras — Season 2
Recently named an Emmy finalist for a Comedy Series, "Extras" is the hilarious project of Ricky Gervais, the original creator of "The Office." Gervais plays Andy, a struggling actor whose aspirations greatly exceed his resume — not to mention his talent. He and cohort Maggie (Ashley Jensen, aka Christina-the-wardrobe-girl from "Ugly Betty") are barely making a living as extras in films headlined by A-list stars (like Kate Winslet and Daniel Radcliffe) who make cameos, poking fun at Hollywood culture.

As for special features, there's a behind-the-scenes documentary, and a "hilarious featurette that shows... how the 'Extras' cast handles the most outrageous moments on the set." Check out one of my favorite moments on the show in which David Bowie musically humiliates Andy.
