The Best Highlights From the 2013 Golden Globes!

The 2013 Golden Globes were full of excitement and emotion in LA on Sunday night.

The 2013 Golden Globes were full of excitement and emotion in LA on Sunday night. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kept the evening light with their jokes and antics, like Amy nuzzling with George Clooney in the audience and the two of them likening Kathryn Bigelow's short-lived marriage to James Cameron to "torture." Other stars also got some big laughs as well, including presenter Aziz Ansari, who pretended to be stoned from Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery's weed cookies. Sacha Baron Cohen gave a mini roast of his Les Misérables costars, when he joked about Anne Hathaway's infamous upskirt incident and sarcastically remarked that Russell Crowe's singing lessons in preparation for the film was "money well spent." Jodie Foster came out while accepting her Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, moving many attendees to tears.

The show was also full of some big, surprising wins. Ben Affleck nabbed best director for Argo after getting shut out of the category for the Oscar nominations on Thursday, and Argo also won best drama motion picture over Lincoln. Hugh Jackman picked up the best actor in a comedy or musical honor, beating out favorite Bradley Cooper. Most winners broke down into happy tears while accepting their awards, including Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and Lena Dunham. Lena got particularly emotional while admitting that she had looked up to her fellow best actress nominees when she was younger and that they helped her get through awkward moments. Always quick to add a joke, nominees Tina and Amy joked that they were happy they could get the young Lena "through middle school." Make sure to check out the full list of Golden Globes winners and weigh in on your favorite styles in our red-carpet fashion and beauty polls.

Movie Trailers

Epic Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Meets Some Tiny Forest Dwellers

An animated movie about a girl who gets magically shrunk down and embarks on an adventure in the forest sounds like a rollicking good time, but the trailer for Epic is more serious than you may imagine.

An animated movie about a girl who gets magically shrunk down and embarks on an adventure in the forest sounds like a rollicking good time, but the trailer for Epic is more serious than you may imagine. Amanda Seyfried voices Mary Katherine, the daughter of a scientist, who ventures out into the forest during a storm only to realize that she's been magically miniaturized. Now surrounded by foreign creatures, she meets a sassy slug (Aziz Ansari) and an army of leaf soldiers. Soon, she becomes immersed in an attempt to rescue the forest from destruction at the hands of Mandrake (Christoph Waltz).

It may be a family film, but putting Snow Patrol in this trailer brings an introspective — dare I say emotional? — vibe to Epic. I laughed out loud at Ansari's line, and I'm looking forward to hearing the many, many voices included on the roster — Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Jason Sudeikis, Beyoncé Knowles, Steven Tyler, and Pitbull are all lending their pipes to the movie. The movie is set for a May 24 release, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.

Breakups occasionally inspire a makeover, and that seems to be the case for John Mayer. He stepped out in West Hollywood last night with a fresh new haircut. John partied with pals B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling, and Hilary Duff at the Mondrian's Skybar to toast Mindy's upcoming Fall comedy series, The Mindy Project. While John caught up TV's finest, some 35 miles to the west, Katy Perry spent her evening dining at Disneyland's ultraexclusive Club 33. John and Katy split earlier this week after only a few short weeks of dating. Since news of the breakup came out, both have spent time in the company of friends. John and Katy share a mutual acquaintance in Hilary, who spent Friday night partying with Katy in Santa Monica.

Rihanna and Emma Watson reported to the set of The End of the World, Seth Rogen's directorial debut, last night in New Orleans. The girls were busy shooting an outdoor party scene along with many of their hilarious male costars, including Seth's Freaks and Geeks buddies Jason Segel and James Franco. The plot of the film involves the literal end of the world, which takes place during a celebrity-filled party at James's house. Rihanna, Emma, and company are all playing themselves.

Rihanna seemed to have a particularly good time with costar Kevin Hart. After they wrapped for the day, she tweeted, "Just leaving set! Kevin Hart clearly has childhood issues! . . . This has to be one of my favorite moments in life." Emma echoed the sentiments of having had a fun day. She wrote on Twitter, "Comedy is brutal . . . New Orleans is the best!" Emma will trade Louisiana, though, for California in the coming days. She's due in LA Sunday to attend this year's MTV Movie Awards.

The Sundance Film Festival has been jam-packed with parties, red carpets, and star-studded events since it kicked off witha rip-roaring, blizzard-filled opening weekend. The Bing Bar played host to everyone from Drake on Saturday night to Kristen Bell for her House of Lies happy hour on Sunday. Elsewhere in Park City, Emma Roberts partied with her cast of Celeste and Jesse Forever, while Joshua Jackson caught up with his Lay the Favorite costars. LTF was getting a lot of buzz coming into the festival and was completed just days before it premiered.

Aziz Ansari took advantage of Sundance to schedule some stand-up, and he actually acted as Drake's opening act at the Bing Bar on Saturday. During the show, Cuba Gooding Jr. stormed the stage when he thought people weren't giving Aziz the attention he deserved. Aziz also stepped out to support his Parks and Recreation costar Rashida Jones, who made her screenwriting debut in Celeste and Jesse. Lizzy Caplan and Kirsten Dunst's movie Bachelorette hits Sundance on Monday evening, but the girls caught up beforehand as well. On Sunday, Lizzy joined Allison Brie, Christina Hendricks, and her husband Geoffrey Arend all sat together to enjoy a relaxing dinner at Chefdance. Bradley Cooper rolled into town late, since his film The Words is one of the last to premiere at the festival. There'still the final weekend and Sundance awards to come, but here's all the latest party pics from all the awesome events!

Mindy Kaling Hangs With Nicole and Jon, Shares Her "Tongue in Cheek" Relationship Advice

Mindy Kaling hosted friends and costars at the Roosevelt Hotel in LA last night for a party to celebrate her book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, thrown by Glamour magazine's editor in chief Cindi Leive.

Mindy Kaling hosted friends and costars at the Roosevelt Hotel in LA last night for a party to celebrate her book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, thrown by Glamour magazine's editor in chief Cindi Leive. She was joined by The Office's B.J. Novak and Jenna Fischer, who were out showing support along with Nicole Richie, Busy Philipps, and Anna Faris. Handsome Men's club members Jon Hamm and Jimmy Kimmel also stopped by the celebration to toast Mindy, who looked lovely in a black and silver Hervé Leger cocktail dress. Mindy took a few minutes to chat with us about her memoir, dating, and how the men in her life have reacted to her advice. She said:

  • Mindy on giving relationship advice: "I think I'm always nervous, because I'm just a comedian and I've had like three boyfriends in my life. So when I dispense advice about relationships it's always like mostly tongue and cheek. I just think it's irresponsible [to give advice], but I love the idea of being like Ann Landers to somebody. But for me it's like more about the comedy essays and memoir."
  • Mindy on straying from the original title of the book, Contents of My Purse: "The Contents of My Purse is very blog centraled, and more about shopping, which is one of my great passions obviously. After I saw how much memoir it was and how many personal essays and comedy essays [were there], it didn't seem apt. Although, maybe i do have a book in me called Contents of My Purse somewhere."
  • Mindy's pick for outstanding men: "Clive Owen is a pretty awesome guy, Sacha Baron Cohen is pretty amazing, who else do I love, and Steve Jobs. Those are pretty universally loved men."
  • Mindy on great advice from her mom: "My mom has always said you have to be your own best friend. Which really means like no matter what, you have to be your own person giving you the tough advice when nobody else does."
  • Mindy on omitting the chapter about B.J. Novak: "It's very hard because I have a great working friendship and professional relationship with B.J. . . . and I would never want to jeopardize that. . . So maybe one day, maybe when he dies [kidding.]"
  • Mindy on how the men in her life have reacted to the book: "My advice is so general, if you really look at it, it's like, 'Offer to help doing the dishes,' and 'Own a pair of dark jeans.' Pretty low hanging fruit — so if you can't accomplish those things you're probably not someone I know."
