What to Expect From Ashley and JP's Bachelorette Big Day

It's official! The Bachelorette's Ashley Hebert and her pick, JP Rosenbaum, will be getting married on TV this December, ABC announced yesterday. And they're only the third couple to do so in the franchise's history. Back in 2003, 17 million viewers watched Trista and Ryan Sutter tie the knot, and Molly and Jason Mesnick wed in front of cameras in 2010 amid a downpour, in true Bachelor drama. Ashley and JP, a construction manager, both said they wanted to hold off on wedding plans until Ashley graduated from dental school, and it looks like the right time is now. Although no specific details have been released yet, there's already a lot we can expect from the couple's big day!

Lavishness
If Trista and Ryan's wedding is any indication, there's going to be one word to describe the event: lavish. Their wedding cost an estimated $4 million, featuring food flown in from 14 different countries and lots of pink, Trista's favorite color. Ashley's been known to keep things simple and stray away from bold patterns in her personal style, so we might see more of a neutral color palette — although we won't expect anything less than chic from the bubbly bride.

Magazine Covers
Even before her wedding, Trista was featured on at least six national magazine covers, appeared on Oprah, and was the first engaged celebrity to make it to the cover of Modern Bride. Ashley's following suit, already making headlines about her "dream wedding."

Celebrity Guest List
Ashley and JP are keeping mum on who will make the guest list, but we can be sure to expect some fellow Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants. Ashley's close with the other girls who competed with her for Brad Womack's attention; she even recently took a trip to Mexico with season 15 ladies, including Ashley Spivey, Britt Billmaier, and Lisa Morrisey. We can also count on her siblings to be there — including her sister, Chrystie Corns, who famously dissed JP on the show and said he wasn't the one for Ashley. Trista invited Bob Guinea, a contestant on her season, to the wedding, but we're not sure Ashley will do the same with any of her exes.

Sweets
Trista and Ryan might have opted for a $15,000 chocolate wedding cake, but our guess for Ashley and JP's wedding dessert? Cupcakes. Who can forget the adorable moment the night they met when she said she was going to marry a man who called her cupcake and he told her that was his nickname at work? Plus, the always-fit Ashley has said one of her weaknesses is a red velvet cupcake.

Designer Dress
Ashley donned some stunning gowns on her season, and we bet it won't be any different on her wedding day. Trista wore not one, but two white Badgley Mischka dresses, one of which was estimated to cost $70,000. But Ashley, who's having her gown custom made, has already left us guessing, saying her dress will not be white.

A-List Entertainment
Famous artists have provided music at the past two TV weddings: country music superstar Brad Paisley sang a song inspired by words Ryan wrote shortly after he met Trista, and Molly's favorite singer, Gavin DeGraw, performed at her and Jason's reception. Given Ashley's love of dancing, we wouldn't be surprised if she brought out some of her own moves to steal the show.

Roses
No Bachelorette wedding would be complete without roses. Trista and Ryan had 30,000 pink and ivory ones flown in from Holland and Ecuador, 12 dozen of which had Trista and Ryan photos printed on each petal. Rose overkill is acceptable given the situation, just as long as we don't hear Ashley say "Will you accept this rose?" any more.

With all the wedding fun to look forward to, there's even more that viewers can expect: Ashley and JP's bachelorette and bachelor parties will be aired, too. How appropriate!

Ashley Chooses J.P. Against Her Sister's Recommendation

On The Bachelorette last night, Ashley accepted construction manager J.P.

On The Bachelorette last night, Ashley accepted construction manager J.P. Rosenbaum's proposal despite a shaky start to the show's finale. Her sister, Chrystie Corns, told her in not-so-subtle terms that she didn't think Ashley and J.P. were a good match. Chrystie was honest about her reaction to seeing Ashley and J.P. together, saying she didn't think Ashley was being herself and that he didn't bring out her fun side, but Ashley followed her heart instead of her sister's rational opinion.

On one hand, I understand that your family knows you better than anyone else; on the other, a relationship is extremely personal, and it's ultimately between you and your significant other. At a viewing party of the show, two married gals said their parents made comments like "keep your options open" and "not my ideal son-in-law" when first meeting their future husbands, but the parents learned to love the guys over time. If it came down to your family's opinion versus the fella you're dating, who would you choose?

The Bachelorette Finale: Are You Happy With Ashley's Decision?

Ashley Hebert has made her pick!

Ashley Hebert has made her pick! Last night's finale of The Bachelorette had Ashley choosing between Ben Flajnik, a winemaker from northern California, and J.P. Rosenbaum, a construction manager from NY. When faced with two proposals, Ashley went with J.P. even after her sister met both and clearly favored Ben.

In the big moment, Ben got on one knee and said to Ashley, "Every second I spend with you makes me fall deeper in love with you. I want to thank you for allowing me to feel completely and utterly vulnerable and open with you," but it wasn't enough to win her heart. When it was J.P.'s turn he told Ashley that she is the one before popping the question. She was quick to accept the proposal in the gorgeous Fiji setting. Of her now-fiancé, Ashley said, "Today is the reason why I went through all the good times and the bad times, and I've been wanting to tell you how much I loved you for so long now. You mean the world to me and I do not want to be with anyone else forever." So tell us — are you happy with Ashley's decision or do you wish she had gone with Ben?

What Would Persuade You to Take a Guy Back?

On last night's The Bachelorette, Ashley hosted a surprise guest in Fiji when Ryan returned for a second shot at love.

On last night's The Bachelorette, Ashley hosted a surprise guest in Fiji when Ryan returned for a second shot at love. Unlike when this has happened in other seasons of the show, Ryan didn't leave on his own accord and then return, he was booted off middate and then made the ballsy (and possibly producer-encouraged) decision to try one last time to make it with Ashley. With his puppy-dog eyes watering, Ryan used these tactics when first approaching Ashley:

  • He wasn't afraid to show his desperation.
  • He brought up their first meeting out of the limo, saying "there was something there."
  • He made a grand gesture by flying to Fiji.
  • He complimented her on her looks.
  • He didn't pressure her to make a decision right then.
  • He showed he'd changed by saying in the past he would have let it go.
  • His nervousness showed he was sincere.
  • He said she'd been on his mind nonstop since he'd been home.

If you had broken up with a guy (or he with you), would these methods work on you? What could a guy say or do that would persuade you to give him another shot?

5 Reasons Ashley Needs Her Girlfriends

Watching Ashley last night on The Bachelorette was like watching a long, drawn-out car crash.

Watching Ashley last night on The Bachelorette was like watching a long, drawn-out car crash. Hearing her cry and sigh over her lost love Bentley, who we all know is a soulless jerk, was so painful that only a drinking game (drink every time Ashley mentions "Bentley") kept my friend and me from losing our marbles. While we sat there dismayed that she could be so clueless about the show's "worst villain ever," my friend said, "this is what happens when you're separated from all your girlfriends." Exactly! What Ashley really needs to help her process these relationship decisions are her girlfriends (sorry, Chris Harrison, you can't quite fill those shoes, er, heels). Here are five reasons the bachelorette needs her besties.

  • Tough love: She needs her girlfriends to knock some sense into her, and I don't mean in the boxing ring. Guess what, Ashley, Bentley is gone, move on. Are you really pouting about one guy who left you when you have 11 guys who are obsessed with you? Get it together. And her friends would be able to see Bentley for the scumbag he is — sometimes you need outside perspectives from the people you trust to see a bad guy's true colors.
  • Shoulder to cry on: Yes, Ashley needs to move on, but she also needs to allow herself to be sad about losing someone she cared about. Maybe if she had been able to talk through Bentley leaving with a friend and really get all those emotions out, she would have been able to get past it and start fresh with the other guys.
  • Fug radar: I'm sorry, but some of the fellas she's keeping around are a bit on the fugly side. We all have those friends, or have been them ourselves, who keep a guy around because he's nice, even though there's no sexual chemistry. She needs her friends to tell her straight up, "why are you keeping him around if you're not attracted to him?"
  • Loosen up: Ashley is so stressed out, I get anxiety just watching her. What she really needs are some gal pals around to laugh with and put things in perspective. She's taking everything so seriously right now and is so tightly wound she can't even enjoy the process. It's even causing her to make rash decisions like kicking off both Ben F. and William on the two-on-one date. A much-needed, girls-only venting sesh would help her relax and clear her mind.
  • Confidence boost: Why in the world is Ashley so down on herself? She is so self-conscious about the guys not liking her or wishing the bachelorette had been Emily (and that nightmare roast didn't help), she can't even see that these guys are head over heels for her. She needs her friends to give her a heart to heart about all of her strengths and how she's a great catch.

Who Would You Give the Rose To?

The drama on tonight's Bachelorette is nothing compared to last week.

The drama on tonight's Bachelorette is nothing compared to last week. I mean the most hated guy in the house is now Ryan, because he's too . . . happy? Ashley has some much-needed, confidence-boosting dates with Ames and Constantine, and she only boots one guy at the end, West. William seems to lay low after his foot-in-mouth incident last week, but her one-on-one fellas, Ben F. and J.P. (my personal fave), make some noteworthy impressions on the bachelorette. I'm curious, out of the remaining 11 bachelors, who would you pick?

Worst Bentley Quotes From The Bachelorette

Oh wow, did you watch The Bachelorette last night?

Oh wow, did you watch The Bachelorette last night? There were some unexpected douche-y moments, and they weren't all from this season's villain Bentley. But that doesn't mean Bentley didn't let his jerk flag fly; he still managed to squeeze in a lot of awfulness into the episode, even giving villainous Wes from Jillian's season a run for his money. Let's take a look at all the worst things he's said so far:

  • "I would literally rather be, like, swimming in pee than trying to plan my wedding with her."
  • "Talking to Ashley is one of those things that I'm not sure exactly how this is going to go, but there's no turning back. It's a trip dude. It's freaking with my head. I need to go poop it out."
  • "Like seriously, can we just bag this and go play blackjack?"
  • "She has a great body. Amazing butt. Rockin' legs. The competition makes it exciting, and competing for her and that's the extent, in terms of my interest. You know, I mean, she's just not my type."

Keep reading for the rest, and beware, spoilers ahead!

What Jokes About You Are Off-Limits?

On last night's Bachelorette the producers had possibly the worst date idea ever: having all the contestants "roast" Ashley, in front of an audience no less.

On last night's Bachelorette the producers had possibly the worst date idea ever: having all the contestants "roast" Ashley, in front of an audience no less. A few of the guys took the safe route by making fun of the other guys, but then the brave ones started making digs at the bachelorette, specifically, knocking her for having small boobs. I couldn't believe they'd go there — how old are these guys, 13? — but surprisingly, Ashley said her chest size was fair game and laughed along.

It wasn't until William committed the ultimate no-no, joking about wishing The Bachelorette was Brad's pick, Emily Maynard, instead of Ashley, that she wasn't laughing along anymore. Since she's in great dancer shape, body confidence isn't something she's lacking in, but after being rejected on The Bachelor, comparisons to "perfect Emily" are a different story.

Whether it's body issues or former flames, we all have sensitive subjects that hit a nerve when people mock them. I'm curious, what are yours?
