First Look: The Return of Greek

Can March 30 come a little sooner, please?

Can March 30 come a little sooner, please? That's when Greek returns to ABC Family for the second half of its second season, and I wouldn't be lying if I said it was literally marked on my calendar. There's just something about this sweet little show that always gives me a pick-me-up, so it seems appropriate that it'll be coming back just as Spring is dawning.

The mid-season finale in the Fall left the show in a crazy place, with a ton of power in the hands of Rebecca Logan. I'm curious to see what will happen with that, especially considering this big spoiler about the fate of one ZBZ sister (seriously, don't click if you don't want to know). Meanwhile, the show is plus-one in the cute factor after adding Jesse McCartney to the cast to play a freshman jock who will be hotly pursued by both Kappa Tau and Omega Chi.

Anyone else ready for all the fun to start up again? You can check out a promo and a clip from a McCartney video with even more scenes if you read more

Buzz Interview: Amber Stevens Speaks Greek

There's a whole bunch of exciting TV on this week, but amid all the season premieres and big second episodes, I'm excited to cozy up with a new installment of my darling Greek.

There's a whole bunch of exciting TV on this week, but amid all the season premieres and big second episodes, I'm excited to cozy up with a new installment of my darling Greek. Recently, I got to join a group of TV reporters in a chat with Amber Stevens, who plays Casey's stalwart best friend (and shopaholic), Ashleigh. We talked a little about her friendship with Casey, her hopes for the show, and her favorite Ashleigh moments. Here are the highlights:

What surprises can we expect during initiation and Hell Week coming up this season [Oct. 28]?
Ooh, well, we do have a special surprise — well, I guess it’s not a surprise anymore — that LC will be on the show in that episode. That’s something to look forward to. It’s kind of a really exciting episode because it’s what you’ve been waiting for the whole time; you really want to see how Rusty handles it. There’s a huge surprise with the ZBZ initiations. I can’t go into detail, but it’s really exciting and it shocked all the actors on the show. We got the scripts and we were calling each other, freaking out, going, "Oh, my God! What is this?"

Ashleigh’s had a lot of wackier antics on Greek over the past couple of years, including the flip flop incident. I’m wondering if you have a favorite Ashleigh plotline that’s been the most fun for you to play.
I really, really liked [the episode] when Ashleigh becomes the tour guide. Gil Younger directed the episode, who directed our pilot and our first two episodes of the show ever, and I just had a lot of fun working with him. He came up with the whole thing where I’m giving the tour, and we’re walking, and we’re walking, and I had to take the whole group through and then introduced my friends. I just thought that was hilarious. She gets to be the leader for once, and kind of tell people what’s cool around campus and she just has fun with that.

TV Tonight: The Greek Finale

OK, confession time: Greek has gone from a guilty pleasure of mine to something bordering on obsession.

OK, confession time: Greek has gone from a guilty pleasure of mine to something bordering on obsession. I love to hate (and not just sort of dislike, but hate) Rebecca, I'm wary of Frannie, I love-love-love Ashleigh and I get a kick out of every time Casey goes "Yay!" in that forced-enthusiasm way she has. I have a huge crush on Cappie (while also understanding the frustrations of actually dating guys like him), I think Evan is smug and manipulative, Rusty is endearing and Dale is hands-down one of the funniest and most well-realized characters on TV right now. Finally, I love that ABC Family features a gay character — a gay frat boy, no less — and actually gives Calvin some meaty storylines (as opposed to watering him down to a depressing stereotype). I genuinely crave Greek episodes. It's entirely possible that I will TiVo tonight's episode and watch a few minutes per day this week, just to make it last. See what I mean about obsession? Right. Moving on. . .

You might've guessed that I'm saddened by tonight's season finale. Titled "Spring Broke," the synopsis is as follows: "The gang hits the beach for Spring break! Casey leaves all her emotional baggage back at school for some fun in the sun. While Rusty realizes that the beach bum lifestyle isn't for him and reunites with old friends on his way back to CRU."

Are you as hooked on this show as I am? Maybe just a little bit? To check out a featurette with the adorable Amber Stevens (who plays Ashleigh) giving a tour of the Spring break beach set, as well as see a preview of the episode, just read more
