5 Reasons You Don't Need to See G.I. Joe: Retaliation

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is out in theaters this week after a bit of a delay, presumably to improve the movie, but after seeing it, I wonder how bad it was before. Filled with tanks, explosions, buff bodies, and 3D (the newest must-have accessory for action flicks), the sequel to 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has all the elements of a great action movie. Unfortunately, it's a barrage of unintentionally hilarious dialogue from stars Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, unbelievable gadgetry, and plot holes. Thankfully, there is some standout action, and yes, Channing Tatum appears, but it's not enough to constitute a trip to the theater. Here are my reasons for why you can skip this sequel.

  1. There's not enough Tatum. Don't be fooled by the trailer or the pictures, Duke (Tatum) is only on screen for about 20 minutes. Maybe it's because we know the film was held for a year in order to add more Tatum, but his scenes feel obviously shoehorned in. I felt robbed.
  2. There's not enough Bruce Willis, either. When the soldiers are cornered, they turn to one of their own: the retired General Joe Colton (Willis). Willis is allowed to strut around and enjoy the fact that, after years in the suburbs, Colton's skills — and his arsenal of weapons hidden in kitchen cabinets — are needed. I just wish he had more (and longer) scenes.
  3. The plotholes are too wide to overlook. This time around, the team is ambushed by an enemy posing as the president, and only three soldiers remain. Abandoned in the desert halfway around the world, Roadblock (Johnson), Lady Jaye (Palicki), and Flint (D.J. Cotrona) find their way back to the states. Presumed dead by the government, they lie low in Roadblock's old neighborhood and somehow acquire an entire stock of state-of-the-art technology, the kind that allows you to put a hair in a lipstick tube and have its DNA code analyzed and matched within seconds. You know, just the gadgets you have lying around.

Adrianne Palicki Shows Off Her New Wonder Woman Costume

Adrianne Palicki sprung into action on the set of Wonder Woman in LA last night.

Adrianne Palicki sprung into action on the set of Wonder Woman in LA last night. She was showing off a different suit than the one we saw a couple of weeks ago, and the costume was apparently toned down since fans weren't digging all that shiny spandex. Personally, I'm liking this new version much better, though we'll have to wait until next Fall to see Palicki on the small screen (assuming David E. Kelley's pilot is picked up, that is). In the meantime, you can vote on which superhero movie you're most excited to see!

First Pics: Adrianne Palicki Jumps Into Action on Set as the New Wonder Woman!

Adrianne Palicki sprang into action on the set of Wonder Woman in Hollywood last night. She looked hot in the classic costume, which has undergone a more modern overhaul. When we got the first glimpse at her new suit, fans weren't loving it, but perhaps this will help convince them. The Friday Night Lights star has a lot to live up to as she takes on the iconic role, but show runner David E. Kelly has complete faith in Adrianne. We were rooting for her last pilot, Lone Star, which met an early demise last year, and we're excited to see both Adrianne and her cute costar James Wolk tackling highly anticipated new pilots.

First Peek at Adrianne Palicki as TV's Wonder Woman: Love It or Leave It?

NBC's Wonder Woman is without a doubt one of the most anticipated up-and-coming pilots to watch for this Fall.

NBC's Wonder Woman is without a doubt one of the most anticipated up-and-coming pilots to watch for this Fall. I've been keeping my eye on it ever since I first heard about the TV reboot, and most of you were pretty excited to see the final result too. So feast your eyes on this: the first photo of the new Wonder Woman, Adrianne Palicki, in full costume! (Click here to see a bigger version.)

While Linda Carter's Wonder Woman always showed skin (e.g. her signature starred hot pants), this amps up the sex appeal. Palicki is really cinched in (and pushed up) in her spandex. Is it just me, or does it kind of look like a Halloween costume? I was hoping for something a little more fresh, but what's your take on the outfit?

Adrianne Palicki Is TV's New Wonder Woman

Adrianne Palicki's latest turn on TV may not have lasted long (R.I.P.

Adrianne Palicki's latest turn on TV may not have lasted long (R.I.P. Lone Star!), but the Friday Night Lights actress is about to burst on to the small screen again in a big way.

Palicki has been cast in the coveted role on NBC's new Wonder Woman. The David E. Kelley series will reportedly follow the DC comic heroine as she tries to balance her superhero fighter persona with her real-life job as a successful corporate exec. The majority of you said you're excited for the reboot, so what do you think — is Palicki a good fit for the Amazonian princess?
