Biggest Headline of 2010: Britney Spears's Big Year With Sean, Jayden, and Jason

We're almost done looking back at the biggest headlines of 2010, which we've been revealing all month long.

We're almost done looking back at the biggest headlines of 2010, which we've been revealing all month long. Here's one of the stories that created the most buzz over the past 12 months and don't miss the rest of our Best of 2010 coverage across the network!

Britney Spears rang in the year as a brunette amid predictions she would settle down and marry again this year. She spent time dealing with issues related to her conservatorship, though things in her personal life continued going well with Jason Trawick. She picked a sheer black number for one of their very public dates to the Grammys in late January, and she showed even more skin in her Candie's ads. She soon went back to blond in March and denied rumors that she had a new record coming out in June, though she picked up nominations at Canada's Juno Awards for her prior work.

She and Jason stuck together in the Spring to deny rumors of a split and public fights, though in May she announced that he was no longer her manager. Britney momentarily had the honor of having the most followers on Twitter, which she celebrated by attending the Toy Story 3 premiere. She then focused on her next project, which was collaborating on an episode of Glee. In July, she confirmed that her music was bound for the show along with some of her iconic fashions. She spent time on set in August to film her anticipated cameo. Her multitasking earned her the sixth place on Forbes celebrity power list and among entertainment's top-earning women, though she revealed hopes her sons Sean and Jayden don't follow her into show business. She and Jason then headed to Hawaii where Britney showed off her hot bikini body in yellow, teal, pink, and striped two-pieces. The duo seemed to be the picture of happiness while by the beach, sparking yet another round of engagement rumors.

Her Glee episode aired in September, and was full of her iconic looks. The show won record ratings, and her cameo helped top the Beatles with the most number ones from a non-solo act of all time. She, meanwhile, scored a People's Choice Award nomination. Brit then headed back to the studio to work on a new album rumored to be coming out next March. She and Jason headed back to Hawaii for even more fun in the sun earlier this month to mark her 29th birthday, before they headed off to wrap up their latest exciting year together.

What a year it's been for Jessica Simpson! She kicked things off as a single girl, but was linked to guys including Billy Corgan, Dane Cook, and Jeremy Renner within the first few months of 2010. She opened up about exes when she went on Oprah to reveal hurt feelings about John Mayer's Playboy interview and scored the cover of Allure with an interview that touched on Tony Romo. In March, Jessica focused on work as she started promoting The Price of Beauty with her best friends and costars CaCee Cobb and Ken Paves.

She posed for a no-makeup spread in the April issue of Marie Claire but was back to being dolled up in May when she attended the White House Correspondents Dinner. She switched gears from her award-winning work with POB to launch her denim line in June. Less than one month later Jessica was spotted celebrating her 30th birthday with the new man in her life Eric Johnson. The duo couldn't keep their hands off each other during a July trip to Italy, and they were still inseparable when they returned to the states.

He became a fixture by her side as she showed off her Jessica Simpson Collection, and she wasn't shy in sharing her happiness about the new relationship. The couple spent a short time apart while Jess visited Navy troops in October, but soon they surprised everyone by taking their six-month relationship to the next level. Jessica and Eric shared the surprising news of their engagement in November! She shared details about the ring while promoting her Christmas album and spent her first Thanksgiving with Eric in NYC with his family. On top of Jessica's whirlwind romance that landed her on our favorite new couples of 2010 list, her clothing line raked in almost a billion dollars, and her singing career was on track, making 2010 an awesome year for the mogul. Whether 2011 brings wedding bells or they decide to wait, we're excited to see what's next for Jessica!

We're looking back at the biggest headlines of 2010, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December.

We're looking back at the biggest headlines of 2010, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December. Here's one of the stories that created the most buzz over the past 12 months and don't miss the rest of our Best of 2010 coverage across the network!

It was a year full of celebration for Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, starting with the new year spent perfecting their tans in St. Barts. She was soon called back to the beach for a Victoria's Secret swimwear shoot, and Orlando also resumed work and began filming The Good Doctor in LA. Orlando, who clinched TrèsSugar's biggest teen heartthrob of all time award, then jetted off to Paris to spend a romantic May weekend with Miranda.

Rumors soon began to circulate about an engagement, and the duo confirmed their plans to wed in June — it didn't take long for her to show off her sparkly new ring. The pair began making preparations for their ceremony, but also took on new projects with him scoring a Hugo Boss campaign and her doing a Prada shoot. Despite their busy schedules, Orlando and Miranda still managed to find time for spontaneous moments of PDA.

The couple wed during July in a secret ceremony, and their short engagement led some to think Miranda could be expecting. She then confirmed her baby news to Spanish Vogue, and shortly thereafter showed the first signs of her bump. The parents-to-be then headed to Germany for Orlando to shoot The Three Musketeers, though they took a detour to Paris so Miranda could hit the catwalk for Balenciaga during Spring Fashion Week. She put her modeling skills to good use with a naked pregnant appearance in W, and later flaunted her stomach more in the pages of Vogue Australia. Their obvious excitement about becoming parents, in addition to their adorable matching good looks, makes Miranda and Orlando one of our favorite celebrity couples of 2010.

2010 Biggest Headline: New Fall Shows Disappoint

Fall TV season is one of my favorite times of the year.

Fall TV season is one of my favorite times of the year. All Summer long, I look forward to the month when my nights will be filled once more with the return of my favorite shows, along with a batch of brand-new series to get excited about. After 2009 brought in hits like The Vampire Diaries, Glee, and Modern Family, I couldn't wait to sift through the pilots and see what was in store. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to get excited about.

Along with many other TV critics, I quickly pinpointed Lone Star as one of the top five new shows to watch. Unfortunately, no amount of acclaim could help James Wolk and Jon Voight, and the show opened to abysmal ratings. It was on death row after the first episode, and canceled after the second.

To rehash some of the other shows that have kicked the bucket, just keep reading.

Lauren Conrad kicked off the year by celebrating her 24th birthday and launching her second book, Sweet Little Lies, with a party in Las Vegas. In February, She hit the road to promote the best-selling novel with stops across the country. She wrapped up the tour in time to toast the season finale of The Hills in June and enjoyed a little downtime with boyfriend Kyle Howard over the Summer.

By Fall, LC had announced her return to reality TV, which wasn't much of a surprise given her previous small screen success. She started filming the new series in October, while she was in the middle of her second press kick of the year, this time for Sugar and Spice and Lauren Conrad Style as well as Sugar and Spice. While production continued on her show, LC also got in front of the cameras to shoot a big screen cameo in BFF and Baby in November. As she wraps up her landmark year, we can't wait to see what's next for LC!

When James Cameron unleashed his 3D epic Avatar, he went big in every way possible. The film's visual effects impressed critics and audiences, and it paid off at the box office. With excitement for the movie already in place, the film opened in Dec. 18 of 2009 and began a number one streak on top that lasted for seven weeks.

Its first weekend victory raked in $73 million, followed by a second weekend that broke box office records at the time. In week three, the totals pushed it over the $1 billion mark.

The Year in Experimental Eating

Aside from setting the tone for a brand-new decade, 2010 was a monumental year for so many other reasons: it produced one of the deadliest earthquakes in history, a riveting Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, a shocking win by the Spanish at the World Cup, and a miner miracle in Chile. But more importantly, it also begot experimental, highly contentious foods like breast milk cheese, pizza cones, and meat munchkins. Every time a newfangled gourmet idea surfaced, we asked you — our readers — if you'd try it, and we got a healthy mix of reactions. 2010 Biggest Headline: Eclipse Casts Its Shadow

It was just around this time last year that we were making our list of movies in 2010 that we were most excited about, and not surprisingly, one of the films at the top was Eclipse.

Promotion for Twilight's third installment started early with a teaser back in March, followed by a full trailer which debuted before Robert Pattinson's other big film of 2010, Remember Me. We were all too happy to dissect every little snippet of footage from the movie in anticipation for its arrival, but there were plenty of other juicy sneak peeks to keep us satiated leading up to the film's release. New photos seemed to come out daily, including a few steamy ones of Pattinson and Kristen Stewart getting close (no wonder you voted them as one of your favorite movie romances of the year). The actors appeared together on the film's poster (which of course, you loved), but it wasn't until Summer that the Eclipse mania really picked up speed.

Courteney Cox

Biggest Headline of 2010: David and Courteney's Shocking Split

We're looking back at the biggest headlines of 2010, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December.

We're looking back at the biggest headlines of 2010, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December. Here's one of the stories that created the most buzz over the past 12 months and don't miss the rest of our Best of 2010 coverage across the network!

David Arquette and Courteney Cox were picture perfect in January when they made the rounds at the Golden Globes and hit the afterparties. Nothing was out of the ordinary as she went on a bikini-filled Mexican vacation with Jennifer Aniston the next month amid rumors they'd star together in Scream 4. Jen, who joined Courteney and David for June's Crystal + Lucy Awards, ended up not being in the movie, though the couple did spend the Summer in Michigan reuniting with Wes Craven and Neve Campbell. Once filming wrapped, Courteney and David went back to LA so she could focus on the new season of Cougar Town. Her time on screen with fellow star Brian Van Holt led to rumors that the pair was more than friends in real life, though Courteney seemed to indicate things were fine with David as recently as three months ago.

However, in October, Courteney and David announced that they were separating after 11 years of marriage. She was soon spotted without her wedding ring, and David had a foot-in-mouth episode by sharing too much about their split and his single sex life while talking to Howard Stern. Both David and Courteney showed their dedication to daughter Coco, even reuniting to watch one of her horse riding competitions. David embarked on a whirlwind bachelor tour that saw him grinding with a brunette in LA and making the party rounds in NYC. Courteney, meanwhile, continued shooting alongside Brian while getting support from pal Jen. David and Courteney seem to be keeping things civil despite their separation, and posed together at a charitable event in October.

2010 Biggest Headline: 127 Hours Causes a Fainting Epidemic

James Franco's acting has earned him praise many times before, but this year, his performance in 127 Hours knocked some people out — literally.

James Franco's acting has earned him praise many times before, but this year, his performance in 127 Hours knocked some people out — literally. When the movie, a dramatization of Aron Ralston's hiking accident, started making the film festival rounds, the action was not all onscreen: the film's climactic arm amputation scene was making audience members pass out.

Reports of fainting incidents started coming in at the first screenings. At the Telluride Film Festival in early September, two viewers needed medical attention, while three passed out at the Toronto Film Festival, though it was never enough to quiet the film's acclaim at the events.

As news of more people passing out rolled in, the movie was officially released in November, allowing a larger audience to see what all the fuss was about. Personally, I enjoyed the film and didn't think the amputation scene was so bad.

At the movie's premiere, we asked Franco himself what he thought of the fainting reports, and though he said he'd heard that people had passed out, they still wanted to see the rest of the film as far as he knew.

The press has hardly deterred 127 Hours's critical reception; it's already beginning to garner nominations including a Golden Globe nod for James Franco. But will the film be better remembered for its sensationalism?
