First Look: ABC's New Dramas

In addition to the four new comedies ABC announced at its Upfront presentation this week, the network also laid out plans for six new dramas, three for Fall and three for midseason.

In addition to the four new comedies ABC announced at its Upfront presentation this week, the network also laid out plans for six new dramas, three for Fall and three for midseason.

Flash Forward, The Forgotten, and Eastwick are the first three we'll see, with Flash Forward taking Ugly Betty's old time slot on Thursdays and Eastwick anchoring the all-new Wednesday night lineup.

Later in the season, we'll meet The Deep End, Happy Town, and the network's remake of V. But there's no need to wait to get a glimpse of these shows. To see photos and video clips for all six, just read more

First Look: ABC's New Comedies

Get ready, because Wednesday nights on ABC this Fall are going to look a lot like the clips below.

Get ready, because Wednesday nights on ABC this Fall are going to look a lot like the clips below. At the network's Upfront presentation today, ABC announced four new comedies as part of its 11 new shows: The highly anticipated Cougar Town starring Courteney Cox, Hank with Kelsey Grammer, The Middle with Patricia Heaton, and the mockumentary-style Modern Family. The four shows will air back-to-back on Wednesdays this Fall, leading into the new drama series Eastwick.

How do they look? Well, I think Hank and The Middle look an awful lot like shows that could have aired during ABC's family-friendly TGIF lineup back in the day. I can't get a good read on Modern Family yet from the clips. It's nice to see Courteney Cox doing comedy again in Cougar Town, though I'm not quite sold on the show yet — but I'm holding out hope.

ABC's Fall Plans: Betty on Friday, 5 New Shows on Wednesday

ABC kept Upfronts going on Tuesday by announcing nearly a dozen new shows for next TV season.

ABC kept Upfronts going on Tuesday by announcing nearly a dozen new shows for next TV season. In total, the network picked up six dramas, four comedies, and a new reality series for Fall and midseason.

Among returning shows, the biggest news is the move of Ugly Betty to Fridays at 9 p.m. In its place on Thursdays is Flash Forward, which has already gotten a big push with some teaser ads during Lost.

Meanwhile, Wednesdays will be all new — and that includes two hours of comedy. Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton get the night started with back-to-back shows Hank and The Middle. Then it moves to the mockumentary-style Modern Family and Courteney Cox's Cougar Town. The night ends with the drama Eastwick, based on the movie The Witches of Eastwick.

Scrubs and Better Off Ted will take over an hour on Tuesday once Dancing with the Stars ends its Fall season, while Castle stays put after Dancing on Monday.

I'll be back with more thoughts, pictures, and video later in the day, but for now, you can check out the full schedule and ABC's descriptions of its shows when you read more
