I don't know about you, but my Wednesday could use some perking-up. Luckily, I have just the prescription: Alphabeat, a Danish pop band whose upbeat tunes seem sure to have you doing the desk-chair wiggle in no time.
Frankly, these kids are just so cute — check out that adorable pixie cut on the female lead singer! The band's six members — 50 percent of whom are named Anders! — are all originally from Denmark, but they've since relocated to the UK, where their debut album, This is Alphabeat, just hit stores this week. The album's 10 tracks combine a dash of '80s kitsch, a pinch of Devo's danciness, and a whole lot of good, old-fashioned pop.
Sadly for us US residents, the album's not out here yet — but at least an import version will be available June 24. In the meantime, thank goodness for the Internet: The band's MySpace page has samples of several songs, and they've got a whole "Alphabeat TV" thing going on over on YouTube. You can also check out their music videos, which I think show off the band's charms best; to watch the video for "Fascination," which I've truly had in my head for a solid week, just read more
Oh, he'll still have his sidekick Dr. John H. Watson and his pipe will most likely make appearances, but the Sherlock Holmes for the new millennium will also "be more adventuresome and take advantage of his skills as a boxer and swordsman."
Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct the movie which will be based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book, Sherlock Holmes. As Variety reminds us, "Arthur Conan Doyle's stories about Holmes, written in the late 19th century, emphasized the detective's intellectual brilliance and power of deductive reasoning. The pipe-smoking character has been portrayed in more than 200 film and TV shows."
So, let's talk casting. Who should play this new, boxing, sword-wielding Holmes?
And no, multiple viewings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show doesn't really count. I'm talking about the movies that so captivated your imagination you just had to go back for more. Or the movies that were such a fun event, you piggiebacked along with different friends and family members to keep the party going all weekend.
Just this past weekend, I know there were plenty of girls' nights out. . . and then girls' afternoons out and girls' Sunday evenings out for the Sex and the City movie. When the first Spider-Man came out, I couldn't get enough and may have seen it four times in the theater. I've also heard some mom friends talk about how many times they escorted their kids to Enchanted over the holidays. And um, I might have known someone, who — ahem! — may have seen The Cutting Edge several times in the theater when it came out in 1992.
What movies have you seen more than once in the theaters?
We've talked a lot about music for a rocking wedding reception, but what about the ceremony? The days when "Bridal Chorus" (aka "Here Comes the Bride") were the only options for the walk down the aisle have passed, and I've heard of weddings where the bride walked to everything from folk tunes to jazz standards to string quartet versions of Coldplay songs.
So I'm wondering: If you're married, or planning a wedding, did you go classical or contemporary with your ceremony songs? And for the non-marrieds out there, what do you imagine your wedding sound to be? (Don't forget to check out more wedding goodies on IDoSugar.com)
After this strike-afflicted TV season, it would be excusable to think that Summer TV would be even worse than normal. And, to be fair, there are a bazillion vaguely awful reality series — from Wipeout to Brooke Hogan Knows Best — on the docket. But you can safely ignore all of those and still stock your TiVo well this Summer: Cable networks are shaping up to have some of their best months ever, and a few network shows look like they'll be must-sees, too. So, without further ado, I present my second-annual Top 10 Reasons to Keep Your TV On This Summer. Just hit "Start" to see them.
Puppy. Running along a beach. "Chariots of Fire." And. . . my morning is officially awesome. Does this video show anything substantial about the movie Marley & Me? No. But it's a pretty cute taste, anyway.
An adaptation of the book by John Grogan, Marley & Me stars Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson as the owners of a spirited dog named Marley who teach them "important life lessons." To check out the new teaser trailer for the film (opening Christmas Day), read more

Who plays Judy Shepherd in Jumanji?
Jenna Dewan walked down the street in Beverly Hills looking extremely chic and poised. Her structured white blazer framed her body perfectly, and paired well over her draped fringe Haute Hippie halter, denim leggings, and over-the-knee brown boots.
