Over the weekend, the New York Times ran a feature on CBS's NCIS, which has somehow become the most successful show on television. It's currently dominating two different nights (Tuesdays, when new episodes air, and Fridays, when it airs in repeats) and has also made a splash in reruns on cable.
This is all a little weird to me because — forgive me, NCIS fans — I've never really thought of the show as anything more than "CSI on a boat." To be TV's most-watched show, beating even the many CSIs? That seems crazy!
That got me thinking about TV shows that have risen to extreme popularity that you just don't get, no matter how hard you try. Are you baffled by your friends who arrange Thursdays around that sex-and-medicine show called Grey's Anatomy? Do you roll your eyes the second anyone says the words American Idol? Air your grievances below!

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!
The WB (remember when it was just the WB?) has given me so many earnest dramas to revel in, and Felicity sucked me in from day one. I loved the idea of a "college drama" that portrayed higher education the way I liked to romanticize it, which is to say: full of cozy sweaters, intriguing classes, BFFs and boys. And deep thoughts. And working at coffee shops.
So, who would you cast as the main character Felicity, originally played with a subtle spunkiness by Keri Russell? Then there are the two main men in her life: dreamy Ben, who she followed to NYU, and responsible resident adviser Noel. Who would you cast as her funny Wiccan roommate Meghan, and good friend Julie? I think we should recast Felicity's other friends Elena and Sean, too. Finally, let's think of someone to play Javier, Felicity's boss at Dean & DeLuca.
Leave your entry in the comment section below, and I'll pick one winner to feature Tuesday, Nov. 25, complete with a "new" cast photo. To see a list of characters to recast and a photo of the BuzzSugar t-shirt, read more

Alright, Buzz readers, you win. By popular demand (and, well, because I freaking love this show, too), I'm kicking off my rundowns of Privileged today! Prove your dedication to this sweet CW show by really chatting it up in the comments, OK?
So, on this week's show, things are heating up between Megan and Will, but the two of them don't seem to have an easy path ahead. Also, there's a scheming, bad-girl Baker twin in the house, and for once, it's not Sage. To chat about this episode, just read more
Welcome back to my Buzz Gift Guide series for all the entertainment lovers in your life. On Monday I dug up some gifts for the little ones in your life and today I'm brainstorming ideas for the teenage dudes in your world who are pop culture sponges.
If I had a teenage brother I'd insist he own a complete set of Indiana Jones DVDs including (but more importantly, not limited to) this year's fourth addition to the franchise. In regard to other franchises, I've noticed that some teenage guys (and by "some" I mean my younger cousins) are always quoting Family Guy and The Simpsons and might have fun with these characters to stick up on their walls.
For the wannabe rock star in your life there's always Guitar Hero World Tour which expands the game from a lone guitar player to a full band that includes drums (it actually looks like a lot of fun!). You may know a young lad who enjoys that Shaun White snowboarding video game, so he might like listening to the pretty cool soundtrack from it, and finally, I'm sure many teens would be stoked to own Iron Man.

Last time we saw Annie and Naomi, they were hurling insults at each other outside Annie's party when a handsome young man dressed in uniform approached and formally introduced himself as the son of Harry and Tracy. So on this week's 90210 we land right back on that doorstep, with both girls introducing themselves to the new guy as his sisters.

And if all the drama between Annie and Naomi weren't enough, we get some grown-up BFF drama from Brenda and Kelly, who are back on screen together and suddenly fighting (Brenda comes off extremely poorly in this episode, don't you think?). So while the ladies huff and puff and tear each other down, Dixon quietly broods and deals with the entrance of a new "brother" in his own way. Let's talk about it! Just read more

I loved the first couple of movies in the X-Men series (not so much the 2006 Brett Ratner installment, but hey, we all make mistakes), and I'm a big fan of Josh Schwartz's snappy TV writing, so this seems like it could be a perfect fit: Schwartz has signed on to write X-Men: First Class, a film focusing on a younger group of X-folk. Schwartz could also direct the movie, though he so far hasn't taken Fox up on the option.
According to Variety, the idea is to focus on the younger characters — Rogue, Iceman, Kitty Pryde, etc. — from the previous films, possibly also using elements from the X-Men: First Class comic series. There's no mention of Wolverine (aka newly crowned Sexiest Man Alive High Jackman), but maybe after his X-Men Origins movie hits theaters next Spring, he'll want to stop by.
If Fox wants an X-Men that will appeal to teens while keeping its geek cred, Schwartz seems like the man for the job: Gossip Girl and The OC prove he's got a handle on teen drama, while Chuck covers the nerdy end of things. Do you think he's got the chops to lead the X-Men franchise in this new direction?
