On this week's Private Practice, Addison dives in headfirst to her trust issues stemming from her marriage with Derek. Just as the good doctor is settling into a fun and easygoing relationship with her cute SWAT guy, he goes and says something that brings everything to an awkward halt. And while Naomi thinks Addison's hang-ups are clear as day to anyone with eyes, it takes a sweet elderly couple to reveal to her and Sam how to move on from the shambles of their marriage. There's all kinds of psychodrama going around once again, so let's not waste time — just read more

Neil Gaiman's story Coraline is coming to the big screen courtesy of The Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick and now we've got a deliciously whimsical, cute, surreal trailer for the February release. Dakota Fanning voices Coraline, a little girl who discovers an alternate version of her life — a way better and more interesting version. But when "Other Mother" (voiced by Teri Hatcher) tries to keep her forever, "Coraline must rely on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home."
I just love this style of filmmaking, and I think Selick has a real talent for bringing these other-worldly tales to life. To check out the trailer for Coraline, read more

A few weeks back, it was the circus that got a melancholy treatment on Pushing Daisies, and this week, it's magic. No cute bunny rabbits and white handkerchiefs here — just a whopping dose of death, daddy issues, and the dastardly Dwight Dixon. Ready to chat about it? Just read more

We all know that author Nicholas Sparks wrote The Notebook, which became a movie starring the sweet duo Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Before The Notebook Sparks's novel Message in a Bottle became a movie. Later came A Walk to Remember starring Mandy Moore, and this year his book Nights in Rodanthe arrived on the big screen towing Richard Gere and Diane Lane in its wake.
Now there are not one, but two more Sparks-induced movies in the works: Dear John and the recently announced adaptation of The Lucky One.
Sparks's writing is rather recognizable now for its combination of desperate romance and heartbreaking tragedy. Do you like these movies? Do you think they'll work if they have a good combination of actors (like Ryan and Rachel)? Or should we just stop with the Nicholas Sparks already?

Oh boy oh boy — another America's Next Top Model finale has come and gone, and once again we have a winner who's sufficient, in my opinion. No matter which way you slice it, the top three this year were all nice girls who came with unique strengths.

And I'm just going to say it: Tyra's hair during the first panel looked like a dead poodle. It was not good. But I digress. The night wasn't too heart-stoppingly dramatic, but a pleasant time was had by all. You can see the rest of the pictures from last night's finale and tell me if you agree with the winner, but first take the last (sob!) Cycle 11 quiz!

The unveiling of Turtle's real name on the most recent episode of
Entourage — it's Sal! — got me thinking about other nicknamed TV characters and the (occasionally even goofier) real names they hide. You can see some of my favorite nickamed characters, from Thirteen to Tootie, and learn their real names if you just hit "Start."
