This movie news is just delightful. I probably would have never thought to put together the names of these Hollywood folks, but now that I see it, I think it's pretty awesome. Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams (though she's still "in negotiations") will star in Morning Glory, a comedy that will be produced by JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot production company. Notting Hill director Roger Michell will direct. Here's more:
McAdams would play an aspiring news producer who tries to save a failing morning show by getting control of its feuding anchors. Ford will play one of the anchors, and the female thesp playing the other anchor will be set shortly.
There's still that other female anchor to cast, so is there any way to make this cast even better? I vote for Kristen Chenoweth (can you imagine her battling it out with Harrison Ford?!). Any other suggestions?

The Muppets seem to be having a bit of a resurgence lately, what with Jason Segel working on a new Muppet movie and maybe even an updated Muppet Show. But those projects are still a ways off, so while we're waiting, it might be worth checking out NBC tonight for a new Muppet holiday special, A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa.
In the special, which airs tonight at 8 p.m. (EST/PST), the Muppets accidentally intercept three letters that should be headed to Santa's mailbox instead. It's already Christmas Eve, so they must hurry up and make it to the North Pole before Santa takes off on his gift-dropping trip around the globe — or else three wishes will go unfulfilled. Of course, there are obstacles (Miss Piggy was planning on a tropical vacation), but in the end, I'm guessing that Christmas ends up happy for all.
The special is full of guests, including Uma Thurman, Jane Krakowski, Nathan Lane, and Whoopi Goldberg — but really, I'm just in it for Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, and the rest. There's singing and dancing, of course, and you can check out one of the songs, plus a behind-the-scenes clip from the special, if you read more
In theory, I think the premise for I Love You, Man is funny and cute: A guy (Paul Rudd) gets engaged to his lady (Rashida Jones — yay for her having more movie roles!) but he doesn't have a best guy friend so he basically goes on a manfriend-hunt to lock down a best man for the wedding.
The trailer features some funny folks (Jason Segel, Andy Samberg, Thomas Lennon) and people I just love seeing pretty much anytime (JK Simmons), and yet, it doesn't really make me laugh. Also (and I'm assuming this is explained in the movie), why doesn't he just ask his brother (Samberg) to be his best man, instead of asking his brother for tips on going on man dates to find some guy he barely knows to be his best man? Time will tell, I suppose. I do appreciate the use of the Pixies' "Here Comes Your Man" in the trailer, anyway.

That's just one of many hilarious rhymes found in Fox's little holiday gift to us, a "Happy Fringemas" video narrated by Fringe's own Walter Bishop (who, incidentally, is holding his own right now in my Best New TV Character of 2008 poll). The video essentially retells the story of Fringe's first season so far — including some of the gory Pattern cases, so, uh, put that breakfast or lunch down before you watch — in the style of The Night Before Christmas, with plenty of Walter's trademark humor along the way.
It's a pretty clever little video, and it just got me excited all over again for Fringe's return in January — the show had a couple of strong episodes right before its hiatus, including a pretty big cliffhanger that I'm excited to see resolved on Jan. 20. In the meantime, to spread the Fringemas cheer, just read more
It certainly doesn't take long for a song to get covered these days! It's only been a few weeks since we first heard Britney Spears's "Womanizer," and British star Lily Allen has just released her own, slightly slowed down version.
I was actually surprised by how faithful Allen's version (which apparently has gotten her in a bunch of trouble with her record label!) is to the original — a few fewer vocal effects, maybe, and a little more downbeat, sort of "Lily Allen sings 'Womanizer' in a piano bar." I could see myself listening to it, but at the same time, there's just that special Britney energy to the original. Take a listen to both versions and let me know: Which "Womanizer" wins?
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
