ABC announced today which B-listers will be taking the stage for the fall edition of "Dancing with the Stars." For the second season in a row, a former "90210" star — this time Jennie Garth — will be foxtrotting on the stage, along with former (and, I guess, current) Scary Spice Mel B., a member of the Disney Channel girl group The Cheetah Girls, and Dallas Mavericks owner/media mogul Mark Cuban, among others.
In all, a dozen celebrities have been picked for the show, which will premiere Sept. 24. For the first time, the stars will be split up into gender groups in the first round, allowing ABC to spread the premiere over three nights. On the night of the premiere, the women will dance; the following night, the men take the stage. One team will then be eliminated that Wednesday.

This is interesting: According to music blog I Am Fuel, You Are Friends, between the years of 1973 and 1975 (a period of time known as The Lost Weekend), John Lennon wandered around working with all sorts of various musicians, like David Bowie, Elton John and Mick Jagger. According to this blogger:
The track he laid down with Mick Jagger was, for a long time, just mythical. In 2003, a London record store owner put an unlabeled record up for auction which he claimed had come originally from Ronnie Wood (guitarist for the Stones) and contained a collaboration cover of Jagger singing the old Willie Dixon blues song, "Too Many Cooks" with Lennon on guitar. That unlabeled acetate (made directly from a master tape, and found in a stack of records) sold for £1,400, and Mick admitted that he had forgotten it existed for a number of years.
This October 2, Jagger is releasing a compilation album which will feature three previously unreleased tunes — including the "Too Many Cooks (Spoil the Soup)" on which Lennon may be playing guitar.
The song is a brassy, groovalicious tune with Jagger's big ol' voice letting loose in a soulful way. If this song doesn't get you swinging your hips, I don't know what will, so to check it out, read more
Every so often, a project comes along that's truly inspiring — and not in the treacly, Lifetime Movie sense of the word, but in the sense that I want to get up and do things and live a better life. Crazy Sexy Cancer, a documentary that premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on TLC, looks to be one of those projects.
The documentary tells the story of Kris Carr, a photographer and actress who was diagnosed at age 31 with a rare and incurable form of cancer. Carr turned her diagnosis into a creative outlet, filming each step in her process of coping, seeking conventional and alternative treatments, and talking to other women with similarly difficult diagnoses to see how they survived the day-to-day trials of living with a serious disease. The film's title takes its name from the subject line of the e-mail dispatches Carr sent to friends and family in an effort to prove that no matter what else cancer was taking from her, it wasn't stealing her sense of humor.
You all know I'm a sap, and I figured I would want to cry after watching the trailer. But instead, I felt motivated and even uplifted, truly awed by the approach Carr has taken to her life. Yes, it looks like Crazy Sexy Cancer will have its share of dreary moments. But in the end, the movie looks to be more about healing than sickness and more about life than death. There's more information and another preview if you check out TLC's site.
We may not be getting the crisp fall weather just yet, but we are getting previews for tons of movies opening in the fall. In preparation for this autumn and winter at the theaters, I've broken up the lengthy list of upcoming movies into many small themes for my Fall Movie Preview series. This way, you'll be in the know when the chillier months roll around, bringing a whole new crop of new films. Today's roundup features the movies that explore those fickle family dynamics.
Martian Child
Yes, that's John Cusack in what looks like it will be one of the fall's most endearing movies. Cusack plays "a recently widowed science fiction writer who adopts a young boy that claims to be from Mars. But the new father ignores some sage advice about the perils of parenthood from his sister and gets more than he bargained for when a series of strange occurrences lead him to believe the child's claim may be true." The trailer on the movie's website is adorable and heart-squeezy, so check it out before Martians land in theaters October 26.
In the weeks leading up to the 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards, I'll be looking at the nominees in some major categories and trying to predict who's most likely to win in these Emmy Breakdowns. Up today: Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Patricia Arquette ("Medium") — "Medium" isn't a show I regularly watch (er, I even suggested it should be stopped), but I do know that Arquette is a strong actress who really carries her show. She won in 2005 against a tough crowd that included Glenn Close, and she's certainly a threat in this strong category. But I think she'll be overshadowed by others this time around. Chance of winning: Moderate
Minnie Driver ("The Riches") — I'm thrilled to see this show get some recognition, and I thought Driver really grew into her character over the course of the first season. But the episode she submitted for Emmy consideration was the show's premiere — which I thought was some of her weaker work — and I think that will hurt her against such a tough field. She deserves to be here, but I doubt it's her time to win.Chance of winning: Low
For my thoughts on the other four actresses, read more

Are you sick of hearing about this movie before it's even begun production?
According to Variety, shooting starts September 10 in Los Angeles, so hopefully they will lay off all the castings once that date arrives. How is your saturation level for hearing about this movie that isn't even being made yet?
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
