It's Official: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Will Star in a New Movie Together

The wait is over! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to star in By the Sea, a new drama Jolie penned and will direct, Universal Pictures announced on Friday. Speculation about the film started in May, when sources claimed the movie is about a husband and wife who take off on a vacation to patch up their troubled marriage. Jolie reportedly wrote the script several years ago. The project will mark Pitt and Jolie's first movie together since 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which has grossed nearly $500 million to date.

"I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna [Langley] and the entire Universal team as I finish Unbroken and begin work on By the Sea. They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker," Jolie said in a statement. Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures, also commented on the project. "Angelina continues to showcase her extraordinary storytelling abilities in front of and behind the camera, and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her on By the Sea," Langley said. "Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood's brightest talents, and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece."Source: Getty / Barry King
