Fruitvale Station Trailer: A Violent True Story Comes to the Big Screen

Since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, indie drama Fruitvale Station has been generating a lot of positive buzz, and we've finally got a trailer to go along with the rave reviews.

Since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, indie drama Fruitvale Station has been generating a lot of positive buzz, and we've finally got a trailer to go along with the rave reviews. Michael B. Jordan stars in the true story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old San Francisco Bay Area resident who was fatally shot by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) police in the early morning hours of New Year's Day 2009. Even from this small clip, the tension in the film is palpable as a fight breaks out on the train headed from Oakland toward San Francisco. Octavia Spencer also stars as Oscar's mother.

In real life, Grant's tragic death was highly publicized, having been captured on multiple cell phone cameras — a detail included in the trailer. I've watched Jordan in both Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, and he's one of my favorite up-and-coming actors, so I'm excited to see his turn on the big screen, as heart-wrenching as his role may be. Fruitvale Station opens in limited release on July 12, but definitely watch the gripping trailer after the jump.

Seth Meyers Will Officially Host Late Night — Love It or Leave It?

Seth Meyers had already been rumored to be next in line for the Late Night throne, and over the weekend, it was officially confirmed.

Seth Meyers had already been rumored to be next in line for the Late Night throne, and over the weekend, it was officially confirmed. Meyers will be replacing host Jimmy Fallon once Fallon takes over The Tonight Show in February 2014. Both veterans of Saturday Night Live, Meyers and Fallon have a similar background, having both served as anchors of the show's "news" segment, Weekend Update.

I've been a fan of Meyers for a while, and I think it's a terrific move on NBC's part. He's pretty well-known, and he's been SNL's head writer for eight seasons, meaning he already knows how to write for late-night television. Do you think it's a brilliant idea, or were you hoping for someone else?

Fox Fall Schedule: Two New Comedies Join New Girl and The Mindy Project on Tuesdays

On the heels of NBC's Fall lineup announcement, Fox has announced its pilot-heavy Fall schedule.

On the heels of NBC's Fall lineup announcement, Fox has announced its pilot-heavy Fall schedule. Some exciting new additions to Fox's lineup include dramas Almost Human and Sleepy Hollow on Mondays. Comedies Dads and Andy Samberg's Brooklyn Nine-Nine join the Tuesday night comedy block before returning hits New Girl and The Mindy Project, as well as army comedy Enlisted in the late Fall.

Fox has a year to determine when new midseason series Gang Related, Surviving Jack, Us and Them, and Murder Police will figure into its schedule. The other big news? Fox chairman Kevin Reilly also confirmed that 24 will be back, running in a "limited series" of 12 episodes in the Summer of 2014.

Revenge: Ranking the Biggest Scandals From the Season Finale

Revenge's second season has come to a close with this week's two-hour season finale, which is basically Revenge: The Full-Length Movie.

Revenge's second season has come to a close with this week's two-hour season finale, which is basically Revenge: The Full-Length Movie. Seriously, there is a lot crammed into this double episode, beginning from the moment Carrion is activated and the lights go out in Manhattan. The show has been muddled this season by subplots and superfluous characters, but I appreciate how the finale closes out a few lingering story lines (turns out The Initiative isn't quite what we were led to believe . . . or is it? And — hold for dramatic pause — somebody dies! Not a dry eye in the house, as Conrad would say.

Yes, death, explosions, tears, and screaming: everything we've been missing from Revenge lately turns up in the finale. The final moments also contain a huge reveal. Sure, it's something we already know, but Jack Porter sure doesn't. To go over the biggest scandals from the last great episode of an otherwise so-so season of Revenge, just keep reading.

NBC's New Fall Schedule: Parenthood Moves to Thursday, Along With Three New Comedies

NBC has announced its Fall 2013 schedule, and while The Voice will dominate a lot of the network's weekly primetime slots, several new series will be moving into the coveted Thursday-night lineup. Welcome to the Family, Sean Saves the World, and The Michael J. Fox Show will all be following Parks and Recreation on Thursday evening — a night that will now be capped off by returning family drama Parenthood. You'll also see that Community is missing from the schedule, but rest assured that it's been renewed, but NBC hasn't figured out when it will air just yet.

Midseason additions include About a Boy, an adaptation based on Nick Hornby's popular novel, which is moving into a Tuesday-night spot, followed by The Family Guide. John Malkovich's pirate series Crossbones will inhabit the Friday-night spot come Winter, and three new series will take over Sunday nights once football season ends.

Gravity Trailer: Sandra Bullock and George Clooney Are Lost in Space

George Clooney and Sandra Bullock provide a gripping two-man show in the breathtaking trailer for Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity.

George Clooney and Sandra Bullock provide a gripping two-man show in the breathtaking trailer for Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity. The two play astronauts who become stranded in space after their shuttle is destroyed by debris. That's right, they're stranded . . . in space. Let that sink in for a minute. The trailer, though simple, feels like a very real nightmare. At first everything is all peaches and cream and beautiful views of the sun coming over the Earth, the next minute they're essentially space orphans.

This already reminds me of Open Water, another movie that had me feeling claustrophobic even when the main characters are surrounded by open atmosphere, only without the sharks. My main question is: are Clooney and Bullock really the only actors in the movie? If any duo in Hollywood can carry a film, I believe in them, but that's still a pretty tall order. The movie hits theaters on Oct. 4, and until then, you can watch the trailer after the jump.

Glee-ful Highlights From the Season Finale: "All or Nothing"

Another season of Glee has concluded, ending with more than one big fat question mark.

Another season of Glee has concluded, ending with more than one big fat question mark. I have to say, I do not have a sense of resolution after watching "All or Nothing." So much has been set up over the past few episodes: Blaine is dead-set on proposing to Kurt, Rachel has her big audition for Funny Girl, and Ryder has been dealing with a mystery computer messenger for months. We get a few answers, but far more questions are left hanging in the air, and a bunch of stuff happens (Regionals) in between that feels like filler. We also bid adieu to one of Glee's originals, a goodbye that prompted my only tears of the evening.

Among all the lukewarm plot points, a surprise wedding takes place! It's the one twist I didn't see coming, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's shocking. Find out more about the season finale of Glee — and get a Spotify playlist of all of this week's songs — after the jump.
